The Despised Luna's Comeback
Heidi had been in the hospital for the past few days, frequently calling Caden. Even though he had remained indifferent, I couldn't shake the discomfort I felt. I could tell Heidi hadn't given up on him at all. Caden had even assigned his werewolf bodyguard to keep a close watch on her, ensuring she didn't wander around. It was the only reason I had managed to enjoy a few peaceful days. I had a gut feeling that Heidi, that hypocrite, wasn't going to let things go so easily. She was probably plotting something big to deal with me! While I was lost in my thoughts, Caden came back over an hour later. "Here." He stepped in, taking out a few Ivernia dishes from the takeout containers and placing them in front of me. His expression remained cold. If it hadn't been for those messages, I would have never guessed that he'd run through countless red lights just to bring me my favorite dishes. "Thanks." I looked into Caden's eyes, feeling a surge of gratitude. Caden pointed to the steaming dishes, his gaze softening slightly. "Eat while it's hot." I nodded and dug in. Thanks to Caden driving to get them himself, these dishes tasted as fresh as if they'd just been made. I felt completely satisfied. Caden kept watching me, constantly reminding me, "They're all yours. Take your time." "Today's meal is the best I've ever had," I said with a playful smile, a hint of meaning behind my words. "Really?" Caden's lips curled into a faint smile. I nodded but suddenly remembered something. "Next time, don't do that for me. Running red lights like that ... if something happens, I can't afford to lose you." After finishing the last bite, I leaned back on the sofa, satisfied, and lazily looked at Caden. Caden's POV:Rosaline looked like a lazy little kitten, so cute it made my heart skip a beat. Without thinking, I moved closer, unable to stop myself from kissing her soft, red lips. Rosaline was lounging lazily on the couch. As she saw me move toward her lips, she quickly pulled back. "What are you—" Before she could finish, I silenced her with a kiss. Our lips met, and Rosaline let out a soft, instinctive moan. Her moan ignited a fire inside me, and without thinking, I deepened the kiss. It was a passionate kiss, fierce yet tender, falling like a storm and leaving no room for Rosaline to catch her breath. The temperature in the living room slowly rose and kept rising ... I had no idea how long it lasted before I reluctantly ended the passionate kiss. I lowered my head and rested my forehead against hers, gazing deeply into her eyes. "Rosaline, promise me you'll come back to me, okay?" "I ... " Rosaline was breathless from the kiss. Just then, my phone rang abruptly. The melodic ringtone shattered the intimate atmosphere between us. Rosaline snapped back to reality and shoved me away. "Your phone." I glanced at my phone and saw it was Yale calling. Sh*t! I cursed under my breath. Why not call earlier or later? Why now ... I answered the call and asked coldly, "Yale, what's going on?" "There's a senior management meeting at the company today. You need to come in," Yale said, his voice uneasy on the other end. "I'm not going," I said, my lips barely moving to utter those two words. Rosaline was still sick, and I couldn't leave her."But ..." Yale started to protest, but I hung up on him. "Is there something going on at the company?" Rosaline asked. "Nothing," I replied, turning to give her a sideways glance. "You still haven't answered my question." "Yawn." Rosaline averted her gaze, trying to change the subject. "I'm tired, I need to rest. You should head to the meeting. As for your question ... I haven't figured out my answer yet." A sense of heaviness settled in my chest as I thought for a moment, then reached out to pull Rosaline into my arms. "Are you sure you want me to go?" "Of course. Just don't disturb my rest," Rosaline said quickly, pushing me away and escaping my embrace. She yawned on purpose and stood up, heading to her room. I watched this woman, the one I loved so deeply, and spoke softly, "Rosaline, don't make me wait too long." Rosaline paused for a moment, pretending not to hear me, then hurried upstairs. Rosaline's POV: Once I returned to my room, I lay down on my cozy bed and quickly drifted off to sleep. I had a dream. In the dream, it was like I was back in my childhood. My parents took me to the park, bought me ice cream, and took me out on a boat. We were all so happy together. But no matter how hard I tried, their faces remained blurry. "Mom, don't move, let me see your face," I begged, pulling at her. But my mom kept avoiding my gaze. Splash! I fell into the cold lake water. So cold ... I vaguely heard a splash and felt a bucket of ice water being poured over me, waking me up with a shiver. When I opened my eyes, I saw Eleanor and Queenie standing in front of my bed, their faces full of arrogance and anger. How did they get here?
