The Despised Luna's Comeback
Heidi's voice jolted me back to reality. Her sweet, delicate tone might have sounded pleasant to others, but to me, it was grating. "Stayed up all night ... must be exhausted ... " It didn't take much imagination to figure out what she and Caden had been doing. "Caden, try this. I made this coffee just for you." Heidi sauntered gracefully to his side, offering the cup with a soft smile. I had no intention of staying a second longer. Grabbing the Azure Bay project files, I said coldly to Caden, "I'll head back to work now. I'll go over the Azure Bay project in detail." Just as I was about to leave, Heidi suddenly spoke up. "Rosaline, wait." I ignored her completely and walked out of the office without looking back. The moment I stepped out, my phone buzzed with a message from Anthony, "Wilda, I found some basic information on Heidi." A surge of excitement shot through me. I immediately replied, "Send it to me." Within seconds, an email arrived. I opened it and scanned the contents. "Heidi, female, 21 years old. "Height: 5 feet 2. Weight: Unknown. "Father: Eric Tessford, a taxi driver in Rivemon, an Omega. Injured in a car accident two years ago, now has difficulty walking. "Mother: Jenny Lovell, unemployed, an Omega, stays at home farming. "Family was impoverished. Had an older brother who passed away at the age of eight. "The Tessfords strongly preferred sons over daughters. Around the age of four, Heidi was kidnapped by traffickers. After that, there was a long gap in her records. Roughly in her teenage years, she was adopted by a werewolf family in Aurion, rising to Beta status under their influence. She eventually settled in Aurion. "Six months ago, Heidi returned to her biological parents and started working as a resident singer at Chroma Lounge."Aurion? Aurion again?! How could it be such a coincidence? I stared at my phone screen intently. The information Anthony sent about Heidi was limited to just this much. Hah! So Heidi was the real Omega all along. I thought for a moment and sent Anthony another message, "Can you find out who adopted Heidi? Also, I need details on her life in Aurion." Anthony replied promptly, "Nothing yet, but I'll keep digging. Give me some time, Wilda." I responded with a single word, "Hurry." Something about Heidi didn't sit right with me. Where had she been all those missing years? Why was that period completely erased, even from Anthony's reach? Was she Tessa? And most importantly, what was she hiding? I pondered for a moment, then sent Anthony another message, "Look into Baxter Pty Ltd as well." "On it!" Anthony responded instantly. Baxter Pty Ltd's CEO was an Aurion immigrant, and Heidi had been raised in Aurion. Could there be a link? Or was it all just a coincidence? After all, Aurion was a massive place. I could only hope the truth would come to light soon. Heidi's POV: Watching Rosaline walk away without even acknowledging me, a wave of hatred surged in my chest. That lowly Omega had deliberately ignored me.I took a deep breath, pushing down my resentment, and turned back to Caden with a soft smile. "Caden, what was that Azure Bay project Ms. Sinclair mentioned?" "It's a new real estate project," Caden replied absentmindedly. My eyes flickered with curiosity. I hesitated, then asked tentatively, "Can I be a part of it?" Caden glanced at me and said indifferently, "Tessa, you just joined the company. I'd recommend starting with simpler projects first." "Caden, I've been studying every day. Wouldn't it be better if I gained some hands-on experience?" I clung to his arm and pouted. "Please?" Faced with my relentless persuasion, Caden hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Alright, you can join the project." "You're the best, Caden!" I beamed and, on impulse, leaned in to press a quick kiss on his cheek. It was so sudden that he didn't have time to react. Perfect. Just the effect I wanted. By the time he did, I had already stepped back. "I'll head back to work now. Don't forget to drink your coffee." Feeling pleased with myself, I strutted back to the secretarial office in my heels. Rosaline was engrossed in the Azure Bay project files. I walked up and deliberately blocked the light from her desk. Only then did she look up at me briefly before returning to her work. I sneered inwardly. Looking down at her, I said with a smug smile, "Rosaline, Caden just told me that I'll be working on the Azure Bay project with you. Brief me on the details." Rosaline met my gaze with mild exasperation. "Is that so?" "Of course." I lifted my chin proudly. "Sorry, but Caden didn't mention that to me." She brushed me off and resumed her work. I clenched my fists. How dare she ignore me? Fine. Let's see how she handles this. I pulled out my phone and called Caden. My voice dripped with feigned innocence as I spoke, "Caden, didn't you say I'd be working on the Azure Bay project? Rosaline said I'm not qualified. Can you tell her yourself?"Caden's voice came through the line. "Got it."
