The Heiress' Savage Comeback
Gavin glanced at the bottom of the cliff once again, his eyes filled with despair. Finally, he let out a silent sigh, withdrew his gaze, and reached for Miranda's hand as they walked back. This is fate. Despite Elaine's exceptional ability, Miranda still manages to push her off the cliff. I can only assume that the heavens also dislike her and want her dead. About five meters above the cliff, there was a cave. Elaine sat at the entrance of the cave, wearing a cold smile, and listened to the fading sound of footsteps. They want me dead, huh? Well, too bad. It's not my time to die yet. Elaine was not oblivious to Miranda's approach, nor could she not predict her intentions. She was confident in her ability to survive even if Miranda were to push her off the cliff. That was why she allowed Miranda the opportunity. Having stayed at the edge of the cliff for a while, she had already surveyed the situation below. Even without the cave, it would have been impossible for her to fall off the cliff due to the number of trees. The sound they had just heard was from the rock she had thrown down. The reason she had allowed Miranda to shove her off the cliff was to let Gavin witness Miranda's vicious nature.Yet, his foolishness was beyond redemption, and he had easily fallen for Miranda's excuses. Fortunately, I have severed all ties with the Grant family. Otherwise, I might cry from having such a foolish brother. Elaine composed herself and walked further into the cave. I'll just consider this as an adventure since it's boring to do nothing. The sky began to darken. Janice, Jett, and Xavier had been waiting for a long time, but Elaine did not return. Janice kept gazing in the direction of the forest and said with concern, "It's getting late. Why hasn't Elaine come back yet? For the past few days, she would return when the sun began to set. It's almost dark, so why hasn't she returned? Could something have happened to her?" Xavier replied, "I'm sure she's fine. She's so skilled that even the monkeys obey her." Jett added, "She probably found a good spot and had fun until she lost track of time. Let's wait a little longer." Miranda and Gavin were sitting not far from them. A sneer appeared on Miranda's lips as she listened to their conversation. Elaine will never come back! No matter how long you wait, it's pointless! Miranda took out the rose myrtle she had gathered and shared it with Gavin. She even turned to the trio with a half-smile. "You guys won't have any food if Elaine doesn't return, right? I have plenty, and I'm willing to share if all of you apologize to me for last night." Janice and the others glanced at her briefly and then looked away. It was clear that they had no intention of apologizing. Miranda sneered. "Hmph! Let's see how long you can be tough!" Elaine won't be coming back anyway. I'm sure they'll come crawling and begging me for food in a few days. I can wait. Meanwhile, the viewers of the livestream were wondering why Elaine hadn't returned. Viewer A: Where is Elle? Where did she go? Since she walked out of the camera's range this morning, I haven't seen her again. Viewer B: Gavin and Miranda went with her, but they've already returned. So why hasn't Elle come back? Viewer C: Did Miranda and Gavin kill her? Viewer D: Impossible! Miranda and Gavin are no match for Elle! Even if there are ten of them, they still can't beat her! Viewer E: What happened to Elle? Did she encounter some wild animals and get attacked? The production crew did not expect one of their guests to venture so far away, so they did not set up any hidden cameras there. No one knew where Elaine went, nor did anyone see Miranda push her off the cliff. The director had assumed that a group of spoiled celebrities would only explore half of the forest at most. The cameras they had installed around the mountains beyond the woods were already an extra precaution. However, Elaine had exceeded their expectations. If they had known Elaine would venture so deep into the forest, the director would have ordered more cameras to be set up. As Elaine was out of the shooting range, there were significantly fewer people watching the livestream that day. The audience, which had been in the hundreds of millions, dropped to hundreds of thousands because Janice and the others were simply sitting and doing nothing. It was not interesting to watch. The hundreds of thousands of viewers kept asking when Elaine would return. They were all waiting for Elaine's appearance. A few impatient ones posted on Twitter, asking the remaining viewers to notify them when Elaine returned. When the director saw that Miranda and Gavin had returned but not Elaine, he immediately contacted the staff lurking in the forest. "Search for Elaine! Hurry! She hasn't appeared on screen for nearly ten hours. Find her quickly." He was worried that something had happened to Elaine, but he did not say it out loud for fear of jinxing it. "Huh?"Suddenly, he spotted a familiar figure in one of the footages. It was Elaine, who had been missing for nearly ten hours. She's fine! She has appeared! The director's voice trembled with excitement as he ordered, "Cancel the search. Elaine has shown up! Well, what did I say? Elaine has exceptional self-defense skills. She even has the upper hand in a fight against a troop of monkeys. I'm sure even a tiger wouldn't dare to mess with her if she encountered one! Stay in position and protect the guests without being noticed. Only reveal yourselves if the situation requires it!" He hung up the phone immediately and pulled up the footage of Elaine on the livestream. Elaine was retracing the same path she had taken in the morning. She stopped when she reached the bottom of the mountain occupied by the monkeys. The sky had turned dark, and it was difficult to navigate through the forest. She did not plan to return that night and decided to spend it at the foot of the mountain. There was a large patch of grass there with a beautiful view. It was also much cooler at the foot of the mountain. Elaine placed her bag down and called out to the mountain, "Alpha, are you there?" A loud howl came from Alpha in the mountain. The sound of trees rustling followed. Soon, a troop of monkeys arrived at the base of the mountain and surrounded Elaine. Elaine noticed that a few monkeys were missing from the group, and several were injured. Alpha's left elbow appeared dislocated, distorting the shape of its arm. "What happened? How did you guys sustain such serious injuries?" Elaine frowned, slightly displeased. The monkeys began shrieking, seemingly complaining to her about what had occurred. She even noticed the righteous indignation and anger on their faces. Unfortunately, she couldn't understand monkey speech. "Have you been attacked by other animals?" Elaine speculated. That's really the only possibility in the wild. It's unlikely Gavin or the others are responsible since they're no match for the monkeys. Alpha nodded. Elaine promised, "It's too late today. Take me to them tomorrow. Come closer. I'll see if I can treat your injury." Alpha's eyes sparkled. Elaine sat on the grass, and Alpha obediently approached her. She turned on the flashlight and had one of the monkeys next to her hold it, shining it on Alpha's dislocated arm. She reached over and gently manipulated Alpha's left arm. Alpha cried out in pain. After a while, Elaine made a quick move. Crack! Alpha stopped screaming, and a confused expression replaced its agonized one. It looked down at its left arm and realized it had returned to its normal shape. It attempted to move it. There was still slight pain, but its arm could move properly. It howled with joy and leaped around Elaine, as if expressing gratitude. The rest of the monkeys also cheered, their eyes filled with admiration. Elaine explained, "Your arm was dislocated. I've helped you put it back in place, but be careful not to strain it too much. Also, avoid swinging from branch to branch for a while to prevent it from dislocating again. Once it fully recovers, you can do whatever you want." She didn't know if Alpha understood her advice because it continued screeching. Elaine turned to examine the other monkeys. "All the injured ones, come over and line up. I'll take a look at your injuries." Alpha shouted something at the other monkeys, and the few injured ones walked over to Elaine, patiently waiting for her to examine them. There were a total of ten monkeys with injuries of varying severity. Some only had bite marks on their faces, so it wasn't necessary to treat those. However, some were seriously injured. One monkey had its tail cut in half, and another had a patch of skin torn from its flesh. A few had deep bite marks. The wounds were extensive, leading to a slower healing process and a higher risk of infection. One misstep and the monkeys could lose their lives, especially the one with an abdominal wound. Its skin was completely torn, and its organs were visible. If left untreated, that monkey definitely wouldn't survive. Elaine's expression turned serious. "The injured ones, stay where you are. Alpha, come with me and bring a few monkeys." She stood up with a flashlight in hand and began searching the area. Soon, she plucked a couple of herbs and handed them to Alpha. "Find a few more of these for me." Alpha reached for the herbs, sniffed them, and took a bite. The rest of the monkeys did the same.Afterward, they scattered across the area and started their search. Around ten minutes later, Elaine and the monkeys returned. The monkeys placed the gathered herbs before her while she carefully examined the plants. She noticed that all of them were an exact match for the one she had given as a sample. She gave the monkeys a thumbs up. "You guys are amazing! I only need to say it once for you guys to understand! Remember to look for this herb whenever you're injured. Crush it and apply it to your wounds. It can prevent infection. Even if your wounds are infected, this herb can still be used as long as the infection isn't too severe." Elaine reached into her bag, threw the herbs into a pot, picked up a stone, and began crushing them. Once the herbs were mashed, she applied them to the monkeys' wounds, except for the one with the abdominal injury. Then, she took out a small medical kit from her bag and retrieved the thread and needle from the box. She approached the monkey with the abdominal injury. The monkey trembled with fear. Elaine instructed Alpha, "Ask two strong monkeys to hold it down. Don't let it move. Actually, get four monkeys. Have them hold down its arms and legs." Alpha immediately shouted the command.Soon, the injured monkey was restrained. Elaine first disinfected the wound with iodine, then proceeded to suture it using a needle and thread. The circumstances in the forest were far from ideal. Despite the absence of anesthesia, she had no choice but to proceed with the suturing. The monkey wailed and screamed in pain. Fortunately, the four other monkeys held it down. Otherwise, it would have broken free and escaped. Elaine's hands moved swiftly and precisely. In a matter of moments, she had expertly placed over twenty stitches along the length of the wound. She then disinfected the wound again before applying the crushed herb to it. "Don't move at all until the wound heals, or you'll reopen it." Elaine began packing her things and said to Alpha, "Send a few monkeys to gather some fruits for me. I don't feel like cooking dinner tonight."
