The Heiress' Savage Comeback
"What did you just say?" Elaine looked at Miranda with amusement in her eyes. With a gracious expression, Miranda repeated gently, "I said I'm willing to share half of my tent with you, and you can sleep in it with me tonight." Smirking, Elaine drawled, "Say that again. Whose tent is it?" The smile on Miranda's face froze, and she flushed bright red with anger. "Since Miranda has already taken the initiative to offer you an olive branch, stop being so calculating!" Gavin interjected in displeasure. "Stealing something of mine and offering to share half of it with me is an olive branch? Are you all out of your minds?" Elaine retorted. "Does the ownership of the tent really matter? The fact that Miranda is willing to share half of it with you shows her kindness. Why must you be so calculating? Can't you be more generous like her?" Gavin rebuked angrily. Elaine rolled her eyes in response. She didn't want to waste her breath on someone so brainless. She looked at Miranda coldly and said, "I'm going to count to three. Return my things to me immediately. Don't make me take action myself, because you won't be able to handle my anger."Without hesitation, she began, "One." Miranda bit her lip and argued resentfully, "Even if you were the one who brought all this, they're in my hands now. Therefore, they're mine. Don't even think about taking them away!" She couldn't return the items to Elaine, as she needed them to spend the night in the forest. In fact, she had completely claimed ownership of everything. "Two." Miranda turned her gaze to the other three people and barked angrily, "Why are you all just standing there? Get ready quickly and stop her!" Xavier, Jett, and Janice immediately snapped out of their enjoyment of the situation. They quickly got to their feet, each grabbing a wooden stick for self-defense. They had picked up the sticks on impulse, and it turned out to be useful in that moment. "Don't oppose us any longer, Elaine. Apologize to Miranda, and we can join forces. It's dangerous for you to be alone in the forest at night," Xavier urged. Jett added, "Although I dislike you, I don't want you to die in the forest. If you apologize, I'll agree to you joining our team." "We were only beaten before because we were caught off guard. Now that we're prepared, you won't stand a chance against all of us. Stop causing trouble and admit your mistake!" Janice huffed.Despite having been beaten by Elaine, the trio didn't believe that their combat skills were inferior to hers. They were convinced that they were unprepared back then, and she only managed to defeat them by catching them off guard. As long as they remained alert, they were sure that she couldn't overpower them. "Three!" As soon as the final number rang out, Elaine lifted her leg and continued forward without wasting any more time. With wooden sticks in hand, Xavier and Jett blocked her path. "Stop being stubborn, Elaine. We don't want to fight a woman. Don't make us take action against you," Jett growled. "It's not shameful to admit your mistake. Just apologize!" Xavier insisted. Elaine sneered, "My mistake? What did I do wrong? The ones in the wrong are you blind and shameless scoundrels! You stole my things, yet you're forcing me to apologize! Nine years of mandatory education produced people like you? What a bunch of idiots!" "How dare you!" Xavier and Jett roared. *Bam!* *Bam!* "Ahh!""Ahh!" Elaine swiftly kicked both of them, sending them flying. They fell to the ground in pain, crying out in agony. Janice was so frightened that the wooden stick slipped from her hand. Seeing Elaine's murderous expression, she dared not step forward and quickly moved out of the way. With no one stopping her, Elaine headed straight for Miranda. "Gavin!" Miranda shrieked. Gavin immediately spread his arms and shielded her behind him. "E— Ahh!" Before he could finish speaking, Elaine kicked him as well. Miranda was so terrified that she quickly relented, "I'll return everything to you! Please don't hit me!" "It's too late now!" Elaine sneered. *Slap! Slap! Slap!* She relentlessly slapped Miranda across the face with both hands. Miranda was slapped so hard that she couldn't even scream anymore, her head whipping from side to side rapidly. It felt like her brain was being shaken out of her head. When Elaine finally stopped, Miranda's face was swollen beyond recognition. Meanwhile, Elaine had a layer of powder coating her hands. "Tsk-tsk." In disdain, she wiped the powder from her hands onto Miranda's clothes. Then, she tossed Miranda aside as if she were throwing away trash. Dazed from the beating, Miranda remained in a daze even when she was thrown to the ground. Not in the mood to deal with her, Elaine began packing her things. She gathered everything from the ground and stuffed them into her hiking bag. When she noticed that only half of her bottle of mosquito repellent was left, her anger flared up. *Does Miranda have no common sense? A little bit of this would've been enough for one application. Yet, she used up half the bottle at once. Does she even have a brain?* Elaine was so furious that she couldn't resist kicking Miranda again before leaving with all her belongings. "Damn it! If murder weren't a crime, I would really open your head and see if there's a brain inside. Not only are you dumb, but you're also selfish. You're a useless piece of trash!" Gavin was furious. "Stop while you're ahead, Elaine! You've already beaten Miranda badly, yet you refuse to let her go! Why are you so evil?" "Shut up! You're no different, you useless piece of garbage!" Elaine kicked him in anger. "Ahh!" Gavin was sent rolling on the ground and hit his head against a rock. He fell into a daze. Elaine snorted coldly and returned to her base with her belongings. She set up the tent and air mattress again, then went inside and lay down comfortably. Throughout the ordeal, comments flooded in. Someone wrote: "Elle is amazing! She defeated five opponents effortlessly!" Another comment read: "Hasn't Xavier, Jett, and Janice figured out the situation yet? Why are they involved in this mess?" Someone else criticized: "Gavin and Miranda are completely brainless. They stole someone else's things and still acted self-righteous. I've never seen such shameless people!" Yet another person remarked: "Elle let them off too easily. She should've taught them a lesson!" Following that, someone objected: "No, that wouldn't work. If Elle had killed them, she would end up in prison too. It's not worth it for people like them!" Then, somebody else complained: "Elle has gone to bed, and I can't see her anymore. I miss her beautiful face!" The subsequent comment read: "Let's all go to sleep and wake up early tomorrow to continue admiring Elle's beauty!" Suddenly, a person typed: "Holy cow! The others are plotting something evil again! They never change! Miranda is truly revolting. She has stolen Elle's identity as a wealthy heiress and is now targeting her. She's just as wicked as her mom. What does the Grant family see in her?" Another person agreed: "Elle was right, the entire Grant family is foolish! They don't deserve to be her family. She's perfectly fine on her own!" Someone else commented: "I can't wait for the show to end and for them to learn the truth!" The ensuing comment echoed: "Me too! I can't wait to see Miranda's reaction when she finds out her image is destroyed. Haha..." Meanwhile, Miranda regained her composure shortly after Elaine left. She burst into tears. "Gavin!" She threw herself into his arms and cried. "It hurts so much, Gavin. Elaine has gone too far. I treated her so well, but she brutally attacked me. She even disfigured me! I've never felt so humiliated and aggrieved in my life. You have to avenge me, Gavin!" She sobbed bitterly. Listening to her cries, Gavin was heartbroken. He hugged her tightly and promised solemnly, "Don't worry, Miranda. I won't let you suffer in vain." Tears streaming down her face, Miranda whined, "Then go and avenge me!" Gavin's expression stiffened imperceptibly. "I can't avenge you right now. Elaine is acting like a lunatic, getting physical over a few words." "More importantly, I'm no match for Elaine. If I were to seek revenge now, I would only end up getting beaten up." Miranda's wails grew louder. "I promise you that I will definitely avenge you when we get back. You are the apple of the Grant family's eye, and we won't let you suffer any injustice!" Gavin swore. Still, Miranda continued to cry in anguish. Gavin hugged her and gently patted her back, coaxing her, "Don't cry anymore, Miranda. Your tears are breaking my heart." Under his consolation, Miranda's sobs gradually subsided. At the same time, comments kept pouring in. One read: "Pfft! Why are you playing the victim when you're the thief?" Someone typed: "Miranda is a habitual thief. She stole Elaine's identity as a wealthy heiress and even took her tent and luggage. I wonder how many of Elaine's things she has stolen without us knowing! She's getting off easy with just a beating. She should've been punished more severely!"Another person commented: "How ironic. Miranda has always been portrayed as kind, fragile, and innocent. Yet, she's now instigating Gavin to seek revenge on Elle. Is this what it means to be kind, fragile, and innocent? I've learned something new!" The subsequent person scoffed: "Innocent? More like vicious and malicious!" Someone else agreed: "Both of them have no morals. I don't want to see them on TV after this show ends!" Another comment read: "If they continue to be on TV, it's the failure of the viewers!" A person then typed: "Ugh, I'm leaving. They sicken me! See you tomorrow!" Somebody else followed suit: "I'm leaving too. I'll be back to see Elle tomorrow!" As Elaine disappeared from the camera, the number of viewers in the live broadcast visibly dropped. Almost half of the initial 120 million viewers vanished in less than half an hour after she went into the tent to sleep. And the numbers kept declining. In the end, only a few hundred thousand viewers remained. It was still an impressive number, but compared to the peak, it was a significant difference. James stared at the number of viewers and fell into deep thought. After thinking for half an hour, he suddenly slapped his thigh and ordered, "Arrange for someone to steal Elaine's tent tomorrow." To ensure the safety of the celebrity guests, special forces had been stationed in the forest to protect them from wild animals and other dangers. Stealing Elaine's tent would be as easy as pie with their help. The staff members were confused. One of them asked, "Why do we need to steal Elaine's tent?" "If she sleeps in the tent, we won't be able to capture her on camera. The number of viewers dropped, so she needs to show her face more," James explained. "Um... Could it be that humans need sleep, and they might have just gone to bed as usual? Even if she were to be on camera all the time, they would still go to sleep when the time comes," the staff member suggested. James gave him a sideways glance. "Look at the time now. Do you go to sleep at this hour?" The staff member checked his phone. "Huh? It's only half past eight now? Has she gone to sleep so early?" "She doesn't have her phone or any other entertainment gadgets with her. It's only natural for her to go to sleep when it gets dark. It's only half past eight, and it's the peak time when netizens are most active. However, the drop in the number of viewers in the live broadcast is significant. It definitely has something to do with her going 'offline', so we have to come up with a solution," James reasoned."Understood. I'll contact the others and have them find an opportunity to do it tomorrow!" the staff member replied. In order to improve ratings, they ultimately chose to be deceitful. The next day, Elaine woke up just as the sky was starting to brighten. Stepping out of the tent, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath of the fresh air outside. Instantly, she felt rejuvenated. "The air here is wonderful." With everything she needed to wash up in her hands, she went to the river to quickly freshen up. Then, she performed an ancient set of Eight Brocades in front of the tent. The exercise had been taught to her by an elderly man when she was still wandering around. It was said to have the ability to cure any illness. But she wasn't entirely sure if that was true, as she had never been sick all these years. In fact, she had never even caught a cold before. She wasn't sure if it was because she had a naturally strong constitution or if her health had improved and prevented any sickness because she had always been practicing it. Comments started pouring in. One read: "Whoa! What a coincidence. The moment I entered the live broadcast, I saw Elle coming online!"Someone exclaimed: "It's only half past five now. Yet, Elle has already gotten up? How early!" Another person countered: "Elle went to sleep at half past eight last night, so it's not surprising that she woke up at this hour." Somebody else agreed: "That's true. Without a phone or watch, she can't tell the time and can only sleep when it's dark and wake up when it's light." A person typed: "What kind of martial arts is Elle practicing? Her movements look very fluid. I wonder how long she has been doing it." The subsequent comment read: "I know the answer! That's Eight Brocades. My grandpa practices it daily and has been doing so for more than ten years. He's now ninety-nine years old, and he's still very healthy. This exercise can improve one's health. I never thought that Elle would also be practicing it at such a young age!" Someone commented: "Wow! Elaine is just too beautiful! She still looks so graceful with just a few simple moves. What a treat for the eyes!" Soon, a trending tag appeared on Twitter about Elaine going online, urging all fans to join the live broadcast quickly. As the trending tag gained popularity, the number of people in the live broadcast started to skyrocket. By six o'clock, the number of viewers in the live broadcast had already surpassed thirty million from the initial two hundred thousand. The staff members monitoring the statistics were all astonished. "Wow! Elaine is really the key to gaining traffic?" "It's only six o'clock now, but there are so many people watching the live broadcast. This is simply unbelievable!" "If this wasn't my own show, I would suspect that someone is manipulating the statistics!" "We must remove Elaine's tent! Anything that can obscure her face needs to be eliminated!"
