I Married My Ex's Billionaire Uncle

Chapter 288

Henry scratched his head in confusion, muttering to himself, “Gavin, why are you acting so secretive? Wait… Did I just see a naked woman?” “Naked?!” Gavin’s Adam’s apple bobbed as his gaze sharpened. Liza froze for a moment before realization dawned on her. The “naked woman” Henry was referring to was her. She glanced down at herself and shouted indignantly, her voice hoarse, “You call this naked?” Gavin said nothing, his expression unreadable as he carefully wrapped the towel more securely around her. Only when he was satisfied that not a single part of her was exposed did he open the door. Without hesitation, he grabbed Henry by the collar. Caught off guard, Henry panicked, flailing his arms. “Brother! Wait, what are you doing? I didn’t see anything! She was wearing a towel, okay?” He emphasized the last part, as if that would absolve him. Truth be told, Henry had been itching to visit Longwan Residential to swim for a long time, but Gavin never allowed it. This time, he thought he had finally gotten lucky. “Liza, are you really going swimming?” Henry asked, trying to steer the topic back to safer ground. Gavin’s cold gaze didn’t waver. Unbothered, Henry suggested cheerfully, “Why don’t we all swim together? Let’s have a race! The loser has to grant the winner a wish.” The mention of a competition immediately piqued Liza’s interest. She grabbed Henry’s arm, ready to head to the pool without hesitation. But as her towel began to slip, Gavin quickly pulled her back. His expression darkened as he turned to Henry. “When’s your birthday?” Henry blinked, momentarily thrown off by the random question. Then he grinned smugly. “April 1st, of course! You don’t even remember? It’s April Fool’s Day!”His grin widened. “It’s still months away, but you can start planning my gift now. How about the latest sports car?” Gavin’s lips curved into a sarcastic smile. “Oh, I know it’s April 1st. I just wanted to remind you.” Henry raised an eyebrow, looking at his brother like he was crazy. “Why would I forget my own birthday? Are you feeling okay?” Liza’s instincts told her that Gavin was far from okay. She knew him well enough to sense that his patience was wearing thin. Gavin’s voice dropped into a low, dangerous tone. “Have you forgotten the ‘gift’ I gave you on your last birthday?” At first, Henry waved it off casually. “Oh, that? No big deal. Wait a second…” His expression shifted dramatically as realization struck. “Are you talking about when you beat me up?! Why would you even bring that up now? I’m your younger brother! You’re so heartless!” But before Gavin could respond, Henry dashed past him toward the backyard. Without missing a beat, he leaped into the pool with a loud splash and resurfaced with a cheeky grin plastered on his face. “Too late, I’m already swimming!” he called out, his voice full of mischief. Henry swam leisurely in the pool, splashing playfully as he called out, “Liza! Come on! Let’s have a race!” Liza’s competitive spirit flared. While she knew her swimming skills weren’t on par with Henry’s, the idea of splashing around in the water filled her with excitement. She turned to the man beside her, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Gavin, I’m going for a swim!” Her tone carried a hint of warning, daring him to stop her. Gavin’s expression darkened. If he had known this would happen, he would have insisted on buying her a more modest swimsuit. Who could have predicted Henry’s sudden appearance? Now, the thought of Liza wearing something so revealing in the pool—especially with Henry—was driving him mad.Couldn’t she see he was already fuming? A pang of jealousy gripped him as he watched her laugh with Henry, their playful energy irritating him to no end. The pool wasn’t that large; the thought of them swimming in such close proximity made his jaw tighten. Without a word, Gavin reached out and firmly grabbed her arm. “No,” he said sternly. The joy on Liza’s face evaporated instantly. Her excitement dimmed as she stared at him, stunned. Gavin’s expression remained resolute as he pulled her away from the pool. His grip was firm, his demeanor unyielding. Seeing his unwavering stance, Liza didn’t put up a fight. She huffed in annoyance and stormed back to her room, slamming the door shut behind her. Gavin watched her retreat, the corners of his lips curling into a faint smile despite himself. “Butler,” he called out.The butler approached promptly, waiting for instructions. “Once Henry leaves, drain and clean the pool,” Gavin ordered coldly. “The water will be dirty after he’s been in it. I don’t want Mrs. Stone using it afterward.” The butler nodded, but Gavin wasn’t finished. “Also, set up two foldable beds and umbrellas beside the pool, along with fresh towels,” he added. He recalled how Liza’s face had lit up at the mention of swimming. For someone who had once been terrified of water, it was remarkable. Meanwhile, in the bedroom, Liza flopped onto the bed, still fuming. She snatched up her phone and dialed a familiar number. “I can’t believe this!” she fumed into the receiver. “There’s a pool at home, but Gavin won’t even let me use it! Sister Helen, please check if he’s gone bankrupt or something. He won’t even let me have a little fun in the pool!”On the other end, Helen, who was enjoying a slice of cake during her afternoon tea, chuckled softly. “Liza, what happened now?”
