I Married My Ex's Billionaire Uncle

Chapter 11

Liza’s POV I pushed open the hospital ward and stepped out, with a satisfied expression on my face. Victoria saw me and stalked towards me immediately followed by Mr. Sinclair. His sharp eyes narrowed with suspicious as they landed on me. “You didn't do anything to your sister, did you?” A faint smirk played on my lips at his show of concern. “Worried, are you? If you're so concerned, why don't you go check on her yourself?” Rage filled his expression and I let out a short laugh, my voice carrying a hint of amusement. “Relax. Even criminals get a chance to turn themselves in. I wouldn't deal with you all in one go.” He frowned in dissatisfaction. “What's gotten into you?” He demanded with a tone laced with frustration. “It's only been a day since we last saw you, but you're already speaking like this. And what's this nonsense about marriage that you brought up on the phone?” Instead of answering, my lips curled into a mysterious smile. “Don't worry, you'll find out soon.” “Apparently, it's all bullshit. It's a charade to throw us off the track. Liza is not married because if she was, she’d have come here with him.” Victoria yelled, throwing her hands up in the air. “That's true. I am your father and there is no way you could get married behind my back unless…” “Unless what?!” I cut him short, as I felt a wave of adrenaline. “Unless you are presented as my father? What happened to court marriages these days? I don't need you to get married and it's honestly not my problem if you believe it or not. When the time comes, you'll know who my husband is.” “Liar! That's what you are. That's all you've been feeding us with and now you think you can get us again? No man would marry a woman like you so get that into your skull.” I smiled and turned on my heels and walked to the elevator. “Liza!” Mr. Sinclair called but I was done with them. I wasn't here for them anyways. I was done with what I was here for. Just as I got to the elevator and pushed the button, another familiar male voice rang sharply from behind. “Eliza!” I stopped in my tracks and turned around to come face to face with Brandon. He stood a few steps away, his face etched with displeasure. “What kind of attitude is that?” “What attitude?” I demanded with indifference. “Come on,” he snorted. “Don't tell me you don't know what I'm talking about.” I shrugged nonchalantly. “What kind of attitude were you expecting?”“Liza!” He snapped at him, his tone rising. “Why are you like this now? Look at yourself! You're nothing like the Sinclair family's eldest daughter anymore. You act like the whole world owes you something. But you shouldn't forget you are responsible for the loss of Serena’s baby. You're the reason why she lost the baby so don't try to make this about us, we're not the ones who wronged you!” “Who did, then?” I asked him. He looked confused as he exclaimed loudly. “What?!” “You just said you’re not the ones who wronged me, then who did?” He suddenly seemed speechless. I was really curious to know what he thought. If none of them had wronged me, then who did? Eventually, he muttered. “You're the one who wronged us, Liza. First you wanted to take me away from Serena. You betrayed your parents, even after they took you in, cared for you and…” I forced out a short laughter, interrupting him from going further. I should have known that would be his reply. Brandon is dumber than I thought. “If I were you, I'd go check on Serena first before jumping into conclusions so fast. When you see her you'll definitely know how ridiculous you sound right now and if I am truly the one who wronged you or the other way round.” Brandon’s brows shot up in confusion and curiosity. “What's that supposed to mean?” The elevator dinged open. Without a response to his question, I stepped in. I folded my arms around my bosom with confidence as soon as I was inside the elevator. Brandon was still outside, staring at me with the usual look of disdain. I stared at him. “The truth doesn't matter to you, does it? You only care about who benefits you the most, right?” For a brief moment, my words hung in the air like an accusation. For a moment, I wanted to tell myself that Brandon didn't really love Serena and he was doing all of this because he had more to benefit from all of this. But on second thought, I decided it was none of my business. Whether he loved her or not, whether all he wanted was the shares or not didn't matter. He opened his mouth to speak but the elevator suddenly began to slide shut as I watched his face disappear.
