Chapter 400 Leg Wound

Jocelyn’s p.o.v. Is this Wolf serious? Does he think he can beat us? Well, I got some bad news for him. No fucking way in hell. There are twelve Wolves in front of us and I have no idea how many Wolves there are at the front of the convoy. Not that I am going to worry about it at the moment, right now Erylis her mind is on the Wolves in front of her. She releases a mighty roar to warn them off, but I think they have a hearing problem. She snarls at them for good measure, before she barrels straight into the Wolf in front of her and knocks him into the Wolf next to him. Griffin is right beside her and both of them grab the nearest Wolf, yanking his flesh from his bones. Signaling the rest of the Warriors to attack and all I can do is keep an eye on our surroundings, hoping to warn anyone of danger. It takes me a minute or two to understand that everyone’s Human is eyeing their surroundings and I turn my attention back to Erylis and Griffin. “Ahh-woooo.” Erylis howls out in pain, one of the attackers has managed to bite down on her hind leg. It doesn’t stop her from fighting, no it only fuels her anger and determination to defeat the attackers. She drops herself to the ground and thank the Goddess he didn’t have a good grip on her hind leg or she would have lost a chunk of flesh. Griffin jumps over Erylis and bites down on the Wolves side, while Erylis rolls over to bite down on his throat. She gets back up and charges at a Wolf that has his jaws clamped down on one of our Warriors. She knows it will leave him injured, but at least he will survive and that is all that she cares about at the moment. Erylis doesn’t stop to look how the Warrior is doing, she wants to make sure the attacker gets what he deserves and she slashes his throat with her claw. “Noooo.” We hear Joey scream and Erylis moves towards the convoy without hesitation. Three males are near the SUV that holds Jenna, Faye and Christian, one of them has ripped the door out and is about to reach inside. Erylis opens her mouth and grabs the male in his side, pushing him away from the SUV. She shakes her head as she clamps her jaw and manages to pull a chunk of flesh, she turns back to the others as she spits out his flesh. She is out for blood, because no one touches what is ours and even though the other two try to run, Erylis won’t allow them to live a minute longer. One of them stumbles and she bites his head of as she runs past him. She jumps into the air to land on the other male, pushing him face first in the dirt and bites down on his neck, breaking it in the process. “That was the last one, Erylis.” I hear Inti say in my head and Erylis howls in victory, not caring who might hear. She slowly turns around to look at the SUV and Joey is smiling at her, giving her two thumbs up. “Damn, that Idiot got me good.” Erylis growls in my head and I shift back to Human form, scaring the shit out of Joey because I collapse from the pain. “Jocelyn.” He calls out as he jumps out of the SUV and runs in my direction with a dress in his hand. He puts the dress over my head and helps me to get my arms through, before he pulls it down. Joseph is there to support me and I can make the short stretch to the clearing by SUV. We didn’t lose anyone, but we have many seriously injured Wolves and Doc patches up to the best of his abilities. He hopes that we can continue the journey tonight, but that depends on our recovery. “Alpha, almost everyone with injuries has a Mate and they will help them heal. Jocelyn is a different story, I am afraid she won’t be able to run or fight tonight.” Doc says. Doc is right, only a Mate can help a Shifter heal faster and it doesn’t matter if it is from a chosen bond or a true Mate-bond. I don’t have a Mate and that means Erylis has no one to rely on, while she is healing my wounds. I am placed on a sleeping bag and Indigo places Faye on my chest, while Joey sits down next to me with Christian in his arm. Jenna sits down next to my head, caressing my hair. A smile slowly creeps up on my face, this is my family and I enjoy having them around. This is what it feels like to be home, it isn’t a place, it is the people with you. Every hour a nurse checks on my bandages, making sure that they don’t get stuck to the wound and cleaning my leg every single time. Joseph has joined us and he helps me to sit up straight to get some lunch, because I barely ate any breakfast. Griffin is close to the surface and he softly growls every time he sees the wound on my upper leg. No one gets a good look at it, because the nurse is making sure that Jenna and Joey can’t see the wound. After the same nurse has checked my wound for a third time in two hours’ time, I am starting to get a little nervous. Indigo gets up to take Faye from me and a second later I am left alone with Joseph, but after a moment I see Inti and Doc walking our way. I look at Joseph, but he doesn’t seem to understand that something is going on and I patiently wait until Doc and Inti sit down. “Jocelyn, I don’t have any answers and trust me I have tried to find them.” Doc says and I feel my heart plummet, the wound is getting worse. “You are healing faster than you should and that can only mean one thing. Erylis is exhausting herself to get you healed up, but it also means that she will be out for at least twenty four hours.” Doc says. I turn into myself to have a conversation with Erylis, but she doesn’t seem exhausted at all and I ask her what is going on. “Remember Mom’s lessons on family.” Is all she says, before she goes back to healing my leg wound. I softly sigh as I remember Mom’s voice and I know where Erylis got the energy from to heal me, she had a lot of help.
