Chapter 399 Good Memories

Joseph’s p.o.v. I help Jocelyn get everything ready for the next part of our Journey and if we keep going at this pace, it will take us two more nights and two more days. We will be arriving at White Mountain Pack late in the evening of our seventh travel day, maybe even after midnight. Mom will be waiting for us at the gate and Dad will be pacing the ground behind her, April will probably ask every five minutes if someone can hear us coming. Yeah, I can already picture how my homecoming is going to be and Inti will probably have the same welcoming committee. “Joseph, why is Inti moving his entire Pack to White Mountain Pack?” Jocelyn asks and I realize that she is unaware of my childhood. “Inti and I grew up there, the Alphas are my parents and Inti’s mentors.” I say, before I tell her my life story and I don’t leave out a single detail.I want Jocelyn to know me in a way no other female does and I can feel that she really wants to know everything about me. “My Sister, April, will probably apologize a hundred times to me when we get home, she called me an Idiot for moving to Little Crescent pack. I know she loves me and was scared that I might get hurt, so I never held it against her. I think her biggest issue might be that she didn’t say goodbye to me.” I tell Jocelyn. For a moment she just stares at me, “I thought for a moment that you were kidding, that you were trying to test me or something.” She finally says. I tell her about April and my two younger Brothers, we always had fun together and we were all protective of one another. She laughs as I tell her about the pranks we would pull on each other, how it would drive Mom and Dad nuts. We talk about the tradition we had for the days of the Full Moon, a tradition Mom finally moved to our Christmas parties. “You do realize that Christmas is only five nights away, four if you are big on celebrating Christmas Eve.” Jocelyn states. I do the math in my head and realize that she is right, that leaves us with little time to get presents. “Don’t worry, there are numerous businesses in the territory. Mom and Dad had to expand a lot after combining their Packs and our Pack-members like that they can contribute to the Pack.” I say with a smile on my face. I think my first stop will be to a very special female, Aunt Eos’ Mom. She has a small shop, where she sells her paintings and from time to time she shows her assignments. Pups have gathered around us as we are talking about the territory, each of them curious about the territory we will be living in soon. “Okay, in the SUVs. Gamma Joseph will continue his stories in the morning, right now we need to get moving.” Jocelyn says and instead of protesting, they all quickly move into the SUVs. “I think that they want to hear more stories and the faster we get moving the faster it will be morning.” I hear Jocelyn say. Like every other night, the first part of the journey will be in a higher pace and after midnight we will slow down to a better pace for the dark. Jocelyn and I keep up with the convoy in our Human form, she asked if she could run for a few hours and I thought it would be good for anyone that wanted to join her. She is singing softly, “You’re in the arms of the Angel, may you find some comfort here.” I know the song and I have always paid attention to the lyrics, not a very happy song but beautiful none the less. She keeps humming as we keep up with the convoy and every now and then she sings along with those that are humming, Griffin is curled up in the back of my head and enjoys the sound of her voice. After an hour or so, someone changes to humming Christmas songs and I can even hear voices coming from the SUVs. It makes the time pass quicker and after another hour the sound from the SUVs become less and less. If I had to guess, I would say that most of them have fallen asleep and the rest is just being thoughtful. As the convoy starts to slow down, those of us that are still in Human form shift and let our Wolves run for the rest of the night. We won’t be getting anywhere near another Pack again along the way, but there are two more locations that are great for setting up an ambush. One will be shortly before we reach our next stop and the other we will reach tomorrow evening before midnight. We have already instructed our Youngsters and anyone that can’t fight knows what to do, so we are well prepared. Let’s just hope that no one is waiting for us and that we can continue the remainder of the journey in peace. Griffin and Erylis are staying close together and it feels as if the pull between us is getting stronger with each passing day. I think I need to talk to Mom about this, because it makes no sense to me at all and Griffin is of no use either. “Herold, showtime.” Inti calls through the mind-link and I see him break our formation, making a beeline for the tree line with six Wolves hot on his tail. The sun is slowly coming up and if we are lucky it will be another half hour until the clearing, but we will wait for Herold to give us the all clear. “Joseph, someone is approaching from the rear.” Jocelyn states and a second later we hear Herold through the mind-link. “Ambush.” It is all he calls out, before shutting the mind-link and I turn just in time to see a Wolf lunging towards Erylis. She doesn’t give him a chance to connect with her, she rolls in my direction and successfully manages to dodge the attack.
