The Replacement He Never Wanted

Chapter 469 Misunderstood

Mike couldn't figure out what he had said wrong, so he silently sat in his seat, hoping the car would reach the Johnston Residence quickly. Hosting the Divine Healer was no easy task. Mike had been a lawyer for many years, handling numerous difficult cases and dealing with tough clients. Yet, he felt more pressure sitting next to the Divine Healer than he ever had before. He took a deep breath. ... The car ride was tense, but they finally arrived at the Johnston Residence. Mike was eager to get out of the car. He couldn't wait for it to come to a complete stop before he quickly got out. Standing outside the car, he collected himself before walking over to open the door. "Let me help you out; please take your time and be careful." He assisted Matthew, carefully helping him out of the car. As soon as Matthew got out, he began to examine the house. The house, built against a hillside, wasn't luxurious. Instead, it had a serene, modest feel. He thought this style suited "Lance" well. Refined, indifferent to fame and fortune, living in seclusion. Matthew felt a slight stir in his heart. Marilyn had just finished preparing the last dish and was about to leave the kitchen when she saw Lana running over. "Mrs. Marilyn, the Divine Healer seems to have arrived!" "Really?" Marilyn excitedly walked toward the door, squinting as she looked outside. "Wait a minute, that car isn't Lance's." "Isn't it?" Lana also squinted. She had just seen a car driving in and instinctively thought it was Lance's. Now, looking closely ... "It isn't. Could it be a guest?" Marilyn quickly waved her hand. "We're only hosting the Divine Healer today. No other guests."Lana, go check it out. Whoever it is, ask them to leave and come back another day." Lana quickly walked over to the car. "Sorry, the Johnstons are expecting a guest today and are not accepting any other visitors. Please come back another day." Mike was stunned by her words. Whatdidshemean? Didn't Lance askmetopickuptheDivineHealerfromtheairport? Whyam I beingaskedtoleave? Wasn't I supposedtobringtheDivineHealertotheJohnstonResidence? Seeing that Mike wasn't leaving, Lana repeated herself with a stern expression. "The Johnstons are expecting a guest today. Please come back another day if you have business." As she spoke, she started to push Mike away. Mike stepped back and glanced at Matthew, who was looking around. "Erm ... Wait a minute. "Is there a misunderstanding? Lance entrusted me to bring the Divine Healer here."You don't want to welcome the Divine Healer? "Isn't Steven still in bed waiting for the Divine Healer's treatment? Why wouldn't you welcome the Divine Healer now?" "The Divine Healer?" Lana was shocked. Though she hadn't fully processed it, she instinctively opened the door, indicating for Mike to enter. "I'm sorry, I misunderstood! I'll go inform Mrs. Marilyn." Mike finally breathed a sigh of relief. He walked over to Matthew. "Let's go inside."
