The Replacement He Never Wanted
It was probably Lance's. Addison paused for a moment but eventually crouched down to pick it up. "You dropped something." Lance turned around and noticed the pink note. With sharp eyes, he immediately saw what was written on it. The note had only one thing on it—his name, written in pen, along with a bold pink heart beside it. The entire paper was covered in pink bubbles. He raised an eyebrow, thinking, Is this a loveconfession? Lance stared meaningfully at Addison. She immediately caught the playful glint in his eyes and felt a sudden unease. She lowered her gaze to examine the note more carefully and finally noticed the handwriting. It was his name, neatly written, and a pink heart next to it. Her eyes widened, and then it hit her—the implication of Lance's look earlier."Hey, don't get the wrong idea." Startled, Addison almost dropped the note. "I didn't write this. It's yours. You dropped it." The note felt like it was burning her hands. She regretted picking it up. Lance stayed quiet, his gaze intense and unreadable. "If you don't want it, I'll just throw it away." Addison was perplexed by Lance's thoughts and unable to decipher his mind. She decided to toss the note back onto the ground. Just as the pink note was about to leave her fingers, he finally said, "Hand it over to me." Without a second thought, Addison tossed the note into his hand. Lance appeared unresponsive. His hand slipped and caught the small piece of paper but failed to maintain his grip on the thermos cup he was holding. The thermos cup dropped with a loud clang, causing the ground to tremble and roll a considerable distance. Addison was startled and instinctively bent down to retrieve the fallen thermos cup. The quality of the thermos cup was excellent, as it hadn't even chipped despite its fall from such a height. It was clean and new. Just as Addison was about to return it to Lance, she accidentally noticed the sleek black thermos cup—the remnants of glue were particularly evident. Something was missing from it. Addison suddenly realized the origin of the pink note. The note had been written by Virginia! It was attached to the thermos cup but had unfortunately been blown off by the wind. Addison exhaled in relief and handed the thermos cup to Lance. "Virginia wrote this for you. "It was supposed to be stuck to the thermos cup and got blown off by the wind." Luckily, she noticed it, or it could have led to a misunderstanding. "Written by Virginia?" Lance's expression noticeably fell as he took the thermos cup."Hey, why did you grab the thermos cup so forcefully?" Addison felt like her arm was nearly yanked off by him. "Are you coming or not? Stop wasting time." Lance seemed distant, displaying a cold demeanor. "It's not me ... " she mumbled. He was the one wasting time, lingering with Virginia, reluctant to leave.
