The Replacement He Never Wanted
Addison continued to stare at her soaked dress. The alcohol trickled down from the bottom of the dress, exposing her chest. Her body already carried the scent of alcohol, and now an entire glass had been spilled onto her. The scent grew even more intense. Anyone who didn't know her might assume she was a heavy drinker. Addison glanced at her dress. It was completely drenched, no longer fit to wear. Her mood was worsening. Standing nearby, Lance felt a sense of guilt as he watched her wrist. It was becoming red and slightly swollen. He suddenly realized he had been too rough with her. "Are you alright?" Lance's expression was tight with concern. Before Addison could respond, he spoke again, "Let me take you to treat that wound first." He reached out to grab her wrist, eager to tend to the wound. In his rush, he accidentally touched the slightly red area on her. Addison let out a sharp "hiss" sound. Lance immediately noticed something was off. He turned his head and realized he had grabbed the wrong spot, quickly releasing his hold. "I ... " He still wanted to help. Addison didn't appreciate it at all. She didn't even glance at Lance. "I don't need your help." With that, she swiftly pulled his large hand off her wrist without a second thought. Lance's hand was pushed away, his expression showing a mix of emotions. A brief, awkward silence hung between the two of them. Meanwhile, Georgina on the side was completely oblivious to the tension between them. From her point of view, Addison and Lance were still tangled up, unable to pull apart for even a moment. She thought Addison pretended to shake off Lance's hand. How disgusting. What's the point of pretending? When Georgina saw Addison's face clearly, her expression shifted instantly from a hint of apology to cold indifference. She had been looking for her, and it seemed even fate was on her side, guiding her right to her. The accidental spilling of wine felt like a small win. Although she hadn't done it on purpose, the satisfaction was undeniable. However, just spilling a little wine on her didn't feel like enough. She thought that Addison had gotten off too easy. She had originally planned a few much harsher ways to teach her a lesson, far worse than just spilling wine. This time, Addison was simply lucky! Thinking this way, Georgina cast a disdainful glance at Addison, who was focused on adjusting her dress, acting as if she was just an onlooker. It was as if the spilled wine had nothing to do with her. Luckily, Addison wasn't the type to hold onto grudges, and after Georgina bumped into her, she quickly offered an apology. Because of that, Addison chose not to press further, treating the incident as an accident. Addison gazed at her dress, feeling torn. No matter what she did, she couldn't fix the dress. Wearing something stained in such a setting would be extremely disrespectful. If you showed up in a place like this wearing a stained outfit, people would think you have an attitude problem and form a negative opinion about you. On top of that, the stain is in an especially awkward spot, right on her chest. At this point, the only thing left to do is find a way to change into something else. With that in mind, she looked up, searching for a spot to call Gordon and ask him to bring over another formal dress from Pendomium Heights. However, as soon as she glanced up, she locked eyes with Georgina. She noticed Georgina's gaze, which seemed to hold a smile, but there was clear mockery and disdain in her eyes. Her heart skipped a beat. She had been too focused on adjusting her dress and only now realized that it was Georgina who had bumped into her. When Georgina saw Addison staring at her, she feigned an apology, saying, "Ms. Daves, I truly apologize." But the apology felt fake, lacking any sincerity. It's Georgina who had bumped into me? Something about this situation didn't sit right with her. Her instincts told her that it was probably intentional, not an accident. After all, since Virginia had finally found a wealthy benefactor, she would definitely be unwilling to let go and would cling tightly to Georgina. Yet, here was Georgina, appearing alone and "coincidentally" splashing her with wine. What were the odds of such a coincidence happening? Even if it were, Addison couldn't help but doubt it. However, with more pressing matters to attend to, she didn't have the energy to look into whether Georgina was truly at fault. Addison gave a slight nod, accepting her apology without further comment. Then, she carefully lifted her dress and began walking away from the platform. Lance, concerned, wanted to follow her, saying, "Your wound ... " After all, Addison's dress was soaked and her hand was injured because of him. Without glancing back, Addison said coldly, "Stay away from me." She had no desire to see him. Georgina observed the scene with an indifferent expression. Oh, still tangled up here and unable to part ways? She had no interest in watching them perform some dramatic "breakup" here. The more she watched, the more pity she felt for Virginia. How could someone trust their genuine feelings to a man like him? She gently grabbed Addison's arm and spoke gently, "Ms. Daves, I accidentally spilled the wine on you. Your clothes are soaked. Let me assist you." Addison smiled politely and replied, "That's alright. No need." However, before she could respond further, Georgina casually held her hand and led her away without explaining. Rather than allowing Lance to escort Addison, she decided to take her herself. She wouldn't give them any chance to be entangled. "Wait ... what are you doing?" Addison asked in confusion, trying to pull away. She wasn't close to her, so why was Georgina acting like this? Seeing her resist, Georgina assumed she preferred Lance's help, which made her even more unwilling to let go. I didn't expect Addison would be so sly. Though she appeared to turn Lance down, she secretly seemed to want his assistance. Her actions were definitely sending mixed messages. Georgina didn't let her hesitate, leaning in and whispering near Addison's ear, "Lance isn't someone who can truly help you. Let me handle it! "My mom is the top designer in the country. She can help you find stunning outfits! "Come on!" Addison sighed in defeat, but when compared to Lance, Georgina didn't seem like a bad choice. She gave a slight nod. "Alright, let's go." Lance remained where he was, silently watching Addison, his thoughts unclear. Noticing his hesitation, Georgina secretly rolled her eyes. She turned back and said, "Mr. Johnston, I can handle things with Ms. Daves, so you don't need to worry."Lance stayed quiet. Georgina raised her tone. "Mr. Johnston, aren't you forgetting someone important?" "Who?" Lance asked in confusion. "Obviously, it's Virginia! "You brought her along, yet you've completely disregarded her and are busy flirting with other women. "Mr. Johnston, you certainly seem to be enjoying yourself!" Georgina didn't hold back, her tone sharp and full of criticism.
