The Replacement He Never Wanted
Georgina stopped smiling, her face now serious as she looked at the woman in front of her. Addison nodded slightly and said, "That's right." Georgina let out a cold snort, her sharp gaze fixed on Addison. "Just because you say I've been deceived, does that mean I have been?" Her expression clearly showed doubt about Addison's claim. Virginia was such a delicate, kind-hearted girl—how could she possibly deceive her? Besides, Georgina had saved Virginia's life. Surely, anyone would feel gratitude for someone who saved their life, right? No one would repay such a favor with betrayal. This woman was clearly speaking slander. Perhaps she was an enemy of Virginia, trying to stir up trouble. Addison raised an eyebrow at Georgina's defensive reaction but didn't respond. She had already anticipated that Georgina wouldn't believe her. If Georgina had believed her easily, it would have been surprising. It would suggest that Georgina's thoughts were far too simple. "If you don't believe me, then fine. I'm just giving you a heads-up, so you know where you stand." Addison took a seat and sipped her tea, the calmness in her manner making it clear she had no intention of elaborating further. She had said what needed to be said once; there was no use repeating it. Addison simply wants to stop Virginia from continuing to cause trouble. Georgina waited for a rebuttal, but Addison simply sat back down and dismissed her. This reaction surprised Georgina further. Wasn't this woman supposed to argue more, point out Virginia's mistakes, or fabricate lies to slander her? Why had she given up so easily and told her to believe it or not? Georgina couldn't understand."Is that it? Aren't you going to say more?" She couldn't believe Addison had just said that and left it at that. Addison said nothing. She didn't even look up, merely taking another sip of her tea in a graceful, composed manner, as though she hadn't just made a bold statement. Georgina, still unsatisfied, pressed on. "How can I trust you with just that one weak sentence? Don't you have anything else to say?" "No," Addison replied, not even lifting her gaze. Georgina, her mind racing with all the retorts she had planned, was left speechless. She felt disappointed. This wasn't how things were supposed to go. She still had so much to say! The silence stretched between them. Unable to stand it anymore, Georgina pulled out a chair and sat down, waiting for the saleswoman to arrive. But no one came. She waited and waited, growing increasingly curious about the woman in front of her. Finally, Georgina asked, "What's your name?" Addison raised an eyebrow and set her teacup down. "Name?" Georgina nodded, serious. "I never asked for your name, so I don't think I owe you mine either." Georgina was momentarily at a loss for words. Annoyed, she raised her voice, "You're so sure that Virginia is lying, but you won't even tell me your name?! "How can you talk about others when you don't even have the courage to say your own name?" At last, Addison reacted, her eyes betraying no particular emotion. Just as she was about to speak, the door swung open. "Ms. Daves, your car is ready outside!" The saleswoman, unaware of the tension in the room, cheerfully approached Addison.Addison silenced herself, nodding. "Thank you." Without another word, she stood up, opened the door, and walked out, leaving Georgina alone in the room. "Hey! You haven't answered me!" Georgina called out, but Addison ignored her, walking straight out. She had started to regret speaking out of turn. As she stepped outside, she bumped into someone. Startled, she shifted to the side, looking up to see Virginia staring at her. "Addison?!" Addison looked up at the sound of her name. "It really is you?!" Virginia exclaimed, having thought she had mistaken who she saw earlier. Now, there was no doubt. Virginia's eyes were full of shock and barely concealed disgust. Addison could see the suppressed emotions in Virginia's gaze, but her face showed no extra expression. She remained as indifferent as ever. She only glanced at Virginia for a moment before walking past her, not bothering to look back. She couldn't be bothered to interact with Virginia. "Are you following me on purpose?" Virginia called after her. What a coincidence that Addison was here as well. Could she know something? Was she here to mess up Virginia's plans? The faster Addison walked, the more anxious Virginia became. Maybe Addison knew about her hiring someone to kidnap her, and now she was here for revenge? A thousand possibilities flashed through Virginia's mind, making her feel uneasy. "Ms. Dolton!" A clear, cheerful voice snapped Virginia back to reality. She turned to see Georgina, who was blinking at her and waving, signaling her to come over. Virginia glanced one last time at the door, but Addison's figure had already disappeared, along with the salesperson. Addison had vanished as quickly as she had shown up, as if she had never been here. Virginia took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, and walked over to Georgina. "Ms. Hamilton, do you know Addison?" "Huh? Addison?" Georgina asked, her expression puzzled. "Who's Addison?" Virginia pointed to the door. "The woman who just left." "Oh, so that's Addison?" Georgina furrowed her brow. "I asked her for her name earlier, but she wouldn't tell me." She hadn't told her before, but now she knew. Virginia watched Georgina's expression closely, sensing something had happened in that room just before. "What did you two talk about in there?" She asked carefully. Georgina nodded casually. "She warned me that you were deceiving me and told me not to trust you too much." What?! Virginia's heart raced. She hadn't been mistaken—that b*tch had come here to exact revenge. There was no way she would let Addison succeed. Virginia quickly controlled her expression and spoke in a soft, gentle voice, "Ms. Hamilton, you don't believe her, do you?" Georgina smiled and said, "Of course not. "I believe you completely!" Virginia let out a relieved sigh. "Ms. Hamilton, I was worried you wouldn't believe me." "How could I not believe you?" Georgina replied, offering Virginia a cup of tea for comfort. "I don't just believe whatever some random stranger says." Virginia lowered her head to take the cup, her face showing a mix of emotions. She didn't feel any more at ease just because Georgina trusted her."But why would Ms. Daves want to slander you? Did you offend her?" Georgina asked, her curiosity piqued. Virginia immediately looked hurt. "Ms. Hamilton, your trust means so much to me. "This is a wound deep inside my heart that I never wanted to reveal to anyone. But because you trust me so much, I'm willing to tell you." Virginia bit her lip, as if making a painful decision. "Ms. Daves is Lance's wife." Georgina was shocked at the revelation. Lance's wife? "I was in a relationship with Lance first, but I had to leave the country to care for my mother when she fell seriously ill. "During that time, Addison took advantage of the situation, using her resemblance to me to seduce Lance." The more Virginia spoke, the more aggrieved she became. "Now that I'm back, Addison refuses to let me get back together with Lance. She's done everything to stop me, even tried to kill me." Georgina was stunned into silence.
