The Replacement He Never Wanted

Chapter 213 Virginia Kidnapped

The next morning, Addison woke up, following her usual routine. She stepped out of her room and saw Leon already seated at the dining table, dressed and eating breakfast. "Uncle, you're up early today," Addison said, surprised. Her uncle was never one to wake up at such an hour. "Got plans for today?" Leon turned to her with a small smile. "I'm hosting a medical consultation at Westgate. Want to join me?" "A consultation?" Addison blinked. "I was looking for cases on my own, but it was too much of a hassle. So I thought holding a session would be easier." "I see," Addison nodded. She pulled out a chair and sat down to eat. It wasn't a bad idea at all. However, her car had been nearly destroyed in yesterday's chase, and she had planned to scout for a new one today. Just as she was about to refuse, the housekeeper entered, bringing breakfast. "Breakfast is served. Have it while it's hot." Addison nodded her thanks, and Leon quietly accepted his meal, focusing on it. "Is the venue ready?" Addison asked, looking up from her plate. "Everything's good to go," Leon replied without looking up. Addison nodded and took a bite. "What's the size of the place?" she asked casually. "Well ... " Leon thought for a moment. "It's pretty big. I managed to book some land from the Zimmers for the event." "The Zimmers' land?" Addison froze. That land in Westgate was prime real estate. Many in Halton had tried to rent it, but it was hard to get."How did you manage that?" Leon grinned. "I didn't. Ryan helped me out." "Ryan?" Addison blinked, feeling slightly frustrated. "Why is Ryan always involved, but you never ask me for help?" "Ryan knew about this consultation before I did." "Am I your family? Feels like you're closer to Ryan." Leon laughed. "Don't pin this on me. Do you really think I'm that careless?" "Ryan practically insisted on helping. Before I could even ask, he had everything arranged. I couldn't just turn him away," Leon said, shrugging casually. Addison didn't know how to respond. She knew Ryan well enough to understand that his eagerness was the kind of thing that could easily lead him to act without a second thought. "So, Ryan took care of the venue too?" she asked, trying to make sense of it. Leon gave a small nod. Addison sighed. After Ryan had failed with her, he'd gone straight to her uncle for help. The Zimmers' land wasn't easily available to just anyone, yet Ryan had managed to get it without any trouble ... Her eyelashes fluttered. She remembered seeing Ryan at the Zimmers' place. She could've chalked it up to coincidence back then, but too many things were lining up now. Ryan's situation wasn't as simple as it seemed. She lost herself in her thoughts. Just then, Leon set down his fork, stood up, and made his way to the door. "I need to leave now, or I'll be running late." "I'm coming with you," Addison decided, changing her mind. Since Ryan had helped with the event, it made sense for her to go and see what was happening. ...Addison arrived at the venue with Leon. The space was huge, equipped with everything needed. Several doctors were already busy with patients. The place buzzed with activity. Many patients had already arrived, some specifically seeking out the Daves doctors, drawn by their well-known reputation. Addison looked around. The crowd was diverse—young, old, in pain, and grieving. Every person seemed to carry their own burden. She'd seen suffering before, but never so much in one place. The entire atmosphere felt heavy, as if the pain of everyone there was pressing down on her. Without hesitation, she and Leon changed into lab coats and masks, ready to get to work. Meanwhile, Virginia entered the consultation room, dressed in a dark coat with a soft cashmere scarf around her neck. Her makeup was flawless. As she stepped inside, she immediately frowned. The room was full of people dressed in plain clothes, some of them looking unkempt. The air was thick with the scent of illness and poverty, and Virginia couldn't hide her displeasure. Virginia wrinkled her nose in disgust, inhaling deeply. She kept reminding herself why she was there: to make Addison pay. In her mind, she repeated that if she wanted Addison to face the consequences, she would have to endure the discomfort. Forcing back her repulsion, Virginia began scanning the room for any sign of Addison and Leon. She wasn't even sure if Addison would be there that day, so she frantically searched the row of doctors in consultation, determined not to miss anyone. Surely, Dr. Daves, being the most important person there, would be in an obvious spot. Virginia thought this as she looked around, but no one stood out. All the doctors wore the same uniforms and sat in the same position. There was nothing that indicated one of them was more important than the others. This frustrated Virginia even more. She had not done much research before coming, so she had no idea where Leon might be. The venue was so large that if she kept looking aimlessly, she'd waste too much time. She hesitated briefly before grabbing the sleeve of a well-dressed girl passing by. "Excuse me, do you know where Dr. Daves is seeing patients? Yes, the one from Kreshill." "Dr. Daves?" The girl immediately pointed to the southeast. "The area with the most people—that's where Dr. Daves is." Virginia's face brightened. Without even saying thank you, she quickly wiped her hands and hurried in the direction the girl had indicated. As she got closer, she was shocked by the size of the crowd. There were so many people surrounding Dr. Daves. Determined, she pressed on, but then nearly collided with an elderly patient. Perhaps because of his poor eyesight, he was stumbling toward Virginia. Seeing him coming, Virginia instinctively stepped aside, afraid he might dirty her clothes. Her quick movement saved her from the old man, but she was immediately stepped on by a woman following behind him. A sharp pain shot through her foot. "Watch where you're going! Do you have any idea how much these shoes cost?" Virginia snapped, her patience running thin. Her voice was loud enough to draw the attention of those around her. Samuel, who was scanning the crowd with a group of men, heard her outburst. As a worker, he had little tolerance for the arrogance of the rich. He felt his annoyance grow. He turned to see where the voice came from. The woman stood in a coat, her fair skin and attractive features making her look like someone from a privileged background. Wait ... can it be? Samuel narrowed his eyes, studying her carefully. She was frowning, impatient, and carried herself with an air of superiority. Though she didn't have the same elegant aura as in the photo, her face was unmistakable. To be sure, Samuel pulled out his phone and looked at the picture again. The lighting was poor, and her face wasn't clear, but he could still recognize her. Yes, it's her! A cold smile spread across Samuel's face. He had always disliked arrogant rich people, and now he had a chance to whoop her *ss. Plus, it would provide him with the chance to exact revenge on his teammates. Without hesitation, he made his way toward Virginia.
