She Was Reborn 10 Minutes Before the Apocalypse… What Happened Next Shocked Everyone

Chapter 14 Join Forces To Fight For Food

Jasmine had eavesdropped near the stairs that morning for a while—a girl staying on her own had suffered forced entry and harassed in turn. The culprits could not be identified as they all had masks on. "You and Levi have to watch out too. This level's no longer secure." There had been some commotion the night before, and Jasmine's ignorance of it confused Nadia. However, the marks on Jasmine's neck cleared everything up immediately—she had overexerted herself and slept like the dead. What could a couple get up to other than such activities when they did not have water, an electric or gas supply, or pastimes? With frequent natural disasters, survival was difficult enough already and would be worse for someone expecting a baby. However, Nadia had never done it before and did not know how to bring it up. She beat around the bush due to her awkwardness. "Jasmine, you have a competition next month, don't you?" "Yep," answered Jasmine somewhat sadly. "The unrelenting weather is going on forever which have delayed my training, so I can only do it without guidance in my room. I could not help but make Levi my punching bag yesterday." Jasmine was still dreaming of joining the competition and would have gotten protection, so Nadia thought she might tell the couple once they accepted the world was ending. While returning to her place, Nadia shot a glance at the tightly shut 1801. ... Jasmine was already knocking on the door before the invaders could come up early that morning and was fighting them hand to hand already when Nadia opened her door, while Levi had a knife. The resident from 1801 opened at the same time. The culprits were originally cowed at the simultaneous appearance of the 18th-level residents but became bolder and threatened, "Whoever can read the situation properly should give up your food. Don't fault my knife for its cruelty otherwise."Nadia argued coolly, "Who said that?" "How ridiculous. Why put in a door if you don't?" The leader waved his knife, "You're cunningly stuffing yourselves behind your doors while we starve, ignoring our wellbeing. How cruel! Don't b*llshit us and hand it over now to save your lives." Nadia had actually eaten to 80% fullness every meal, with her energy worn away by heavy training without interacting unnecessarily with anyone. It was obvious that the rest were hungry and lacking nutrition which had driven them to losing their morality. Using logic against them would be ineffective.. Nadia did not want to play around. "Whatever. Come fight us for it if you're daring enough." She glanced at Jasmine; despite there being just a few attackers, who knew how many were lying in wait. Without making their stance clear, people would continue doing this. Jasmine got her meaning and involuntarily pushed Levi behind her.The audaciousness of the 18th-floor residents encouraged the attackers to kick the stainless steel door open hard and storm the place with raised blades. However, Nadia avoided her attacker and attacked the leading man with a knife. Meanwhile, Jasmine had been depressed after witnessing the suicide of the mother and both her kids, so she was already ready for combat against the invaders. She dodged each attack swiftly and punched one man in the abdomen so hard that he crashed down the staircase and into a door, lying still. The man from 1801 stood where he was and cut off his attacker's arm. The screams on the floor echoed continuously, particularly eerie and chilling in the darkness of the night. Nadia slashed continuously, sending blood splashing everywhere terrifyingly even if she had avoided all vital parts. There were six in total, including three with cut wounds and the others with arms cut off. Jasmine had beaten them all close to unconsciousness as well without allowing Levi any chance to attack.Nadia stood above the staircase with her bloodied knife. "You want sustenance or to live?" The leader of the men moaned furiously while covering his continuously gushing arm, "Murder is a crime!" "A crime?" Nadia tugged down their masks, having seen them all before despite not able to name them all. A couple of them had even actively participated in the community and lived flashy lifestyles, yet they were now committing crimes while masked. Retrieving her phone, she photographed them all. "Call the police then. See who they will take into custody." The thugs had not expected the 18th-floor residents to unite and could not even counterattack, so they had to humble themselves. "We didn't see any other way to live and was forced to do this. You lost nothing anyway, please release us like nothing actually occurred." They were all such cowards now after all that arrogance and now begged for mercy on their knees. Had Nadia been the only target, quietly getting rid of them was enough. but their united front was to scare everyone off. She considered the resident from 1801 and Jasmine, who both didn't object. "You got off easy today, but not necessarily after this. F*ck off!" All the noise scared everyone else in the building into not opening their doors. Nadia and her companions did not clean the blood away and merely shut the door before heading back up. After seeing how nimble the resident of 1801 had been, Levi hoped to get closer to the latest neighbor. "Hi, I'm Levi and just moved here several days back. Your talents ae amazing. What's your job?" Harrison returned expressionlessly to his doorstep, "Take a guess." Levi had no words, but Jasmine read the situation at once and tugged at Levi. "Let's go." Harrison did not look like a gang member but probably had a complex origin, so trying to pry mught cause trouble. Their fight was detering enough to stop anyone from approaching the stairs to their floor. Nadia pulled her curtains open early to see the typhoon still howling and running wild against the windows, giving the feeling of the building shaking. The typhoon had come earlier and showed no signs of abating even after 15 days. Her worst expectations had come true—not only had things gotten worse, but it was unknown when it would stop. However, they still had to survive on a daily basis. Snowball's tummy was enormous and it had a terrifying appetite. Nadia found blood on the cardboard as she used a vegetable to tease it and felt its tummy, discovering how anxious it was as if close to birth. These new lives within the disaster could be turned into a roast, a steamed dish, salad, stir fry, stew, and so on, making her salivate in anticipation. Soon, the first baby rabbit was born, which was a mere several centimeters, extremely tiny, and no larger than a baby mouse. By the time Lily visited, Snowball already birthed six cubs and she retrieved a couple of shriveled cabbage leaves from a pocket. "Snowball, you're having babies. Come on and eat." There was a total of ten cubs, meaning there was twelve rabbits to feed, so Nadia fretted over feeding them. Feed was not enough, yet the vegetables on her balcony had wilted after half a month of the typhoon and rains. They would have died long ago if she hadn't used her space to cheat. Her plants flourished within the space and relaxed the atmosphere, and she had not resisted the urge to pick some vegetables to go with her pasta—home-grown food tasted really good. Two of her fruit tree shoots were growing as well, especially the old persimmon tree which had developed sprouts. Nadia convinced herself that everything was going well; caring for her rabbits, exercise, reading, and lazing around made life quite fruitful. She also got a new habit of observing the winds after upon rising, making her quite the expert in identifying the details. By the eighteenth day, the rhythm seemed somewhat strange.
