Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
"Raelynn, you're finally back at work! That's great. You’ve been gone for so long—I thought you were seriously ill!" Taylor spotted me and immediately came over, her tone dripping with fake concern. "Aiden's been by your side this whole time, barely even working. I've never seen him act like this before." That smug, fake expression of hers made me snap. "Taylor, do you ever get tired of playing games?" After everything I’d just been through, I had no patience left to deal with her. "Raelynn, don't be mad. I was just making conversation. If it upset you, I’ll stop," she said, lowering her head like she was about to cry. Right on cue, our coworkers jumped in to defend her. "Ms. Raelynn, Taylor’s just concerned about you. Don’t take it the wrong way." "Yeah, she’s been great lately—we all really like her." I gave a cold snort. I knew exactly what kind of person Taylor was. I ignored her and went to my desk—only to find all my piles of documents completely gone. Frowning, I turned to a nearby coworker. "Where are my files?" These were things I’d spent ages collecting, and the reports were halfway done. How could they suddenly vanish? The coworker gave me a timid look. "Taylor took them. Since you were gone for so long, she finished everything for you." She what? She just took over the work I’d been doing, finished it, and passed it off as her own? How shameless could one person be? I took a deep breath, ready to confront her, but she showed up first. "Taylor. What’s going on?" "Raelynn, don’t be upset. I really did do the work, but I did it for your sake. You wouldn’t want the project delayed, right? No one knew when you’d be back, and if everything fell behind because of that, you wouldn’t be able to take responsibility for the consequences."I let out a cold laugh. "I know exactly where the project stands. No need for Ms. Taylor to worry herself." "Raelynn, I’m doing this for the Eclipse Pack. Maybe it’s fine if you don’t show up, but some of these projects are team efforts. You’re holding everyone back—do you really not feel guilty about that?" She was trying to escalate the situation to make me look like the problem. I looked around the room. "If anyone feels that I’ve held up Ms. Taylor, speak now. That’ll save me from asking each of you one by one." Taylor’s face stiffened. "In any case, you don’t need to be so upset. Even though I completed the work, I uploaded it under your name. So you have nothing to worry about." I stared coldly at her. As if she would ever be that kind. Sure enough, that afternoon I got a call from the investors. They said there was a problem with the design files—some of the data didn’t match up at all, and the prototype couldn’t function properly. I let out a bitter laugh. Just as I’d thought. "Good thing I ran a test before full-scale production. If we’d gone all in, this would’ve cost us a fortune." On the other end, the investor sounded irritated. "Don’t worry," I said quickly. "I’ll revise the design right away and send you an updated version tonight." After calming him down, I opened my computer—only to discover that all my backups had been wiped. Taylor again? I was seething. But I couldn’t waste time blaming her. What mattered now was fixing it. I reviewed the original planning documents. The investor had requested a design that was elegant and seductive. Elegant immediately brought the moon to mind. But seductive? I started sketching aimlessly, letting the lines form freely. And then, a shape appeared—one that sparked an idea. A silver wolf walking under the moonlight, its eyes long and enchanting. The eyes would be inlaid with blue gems, with a single fine diamond set at the top of each. Around the moon, strands of silver thread would form a misty veil—giving the entire piece a dreamy, ethereal look. Silver Wolf Beneath the Moon. Even the name came to me. I completed the design and sent it to the investor. As expected, they were thrilled. "Ms. Raelynn, you’re truly on another level. Only you could’ve come up with something like this." They sounded elated. "It was worth the wait. I’ll greenlight full production. I hope this new design breaks all our sales records." "Thank you," I replied. My designs had always sold well. That’s why the investor had partnered with me in the first place. On the first day of launch, as soon as the design went live on the website, it sparked a flood of praise. “Oh my god, this is gorgeous! I knew Raelynn would deliver something breathtaking again!” “I’m obsessed with Silver Wolf Beneath the Moon. Her past designs were all for couples, so I never got to buy one. But this—this is stunning!” “Anyone who says Raelynn’s designs aren’t good is getting blocked. I’ll fight them myself!”
