Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
I carefully avoided the doctor, not making a sound. The doctor grabbed a folder of documents, walked out, and shut the door behind him. Only then did I step out from behind the bookshelf. There were over a dozen file cabinets in the records room, and I had no idea where Raelynn’s mother’s information might be. After rummaging through a few drawers, an entire hour had passed. At this rate, the odds of finding the file were slim to none. I let out a sigh and was just about to consider another method when I noticed something about the filing system. The first ten cabinets were organized alphabetically in English, while the last ten were sorted numerically. A lightbulb went off in my head—I knew where to look. But even after checking all the likely cabinets, I still came up empty. If my hunch was right, the file had to be in Andrix’s office. Thinking back to the way Andrix looked at me earlier, I realized he probably already knew what I was planning. I put all the drawers back exactly as I found them and left the records room. I headed to Andrix’s office and began to search thoroughly. Time flew. In the blink of an eye, two hours had passed. And I still hadn’t found Ruby’s mother’s hospitalization records. “You’re looking for this?” A voice came from above me. I looked up, startled. Andrix stood there with a faint smile, holding the file between his fingers. “…Yeah.” I withdrew my hand, met his gaze, and frowned. “Andrix, I’ve already told you. I don’t like you. Stop making this harder than it has to be.” “But you’re the only one I want.”Andrix set the file aside and walked over, pinning me against the desk. His sudden move caught me off guard. “Andrix, this isn’t very gentlemanly of you,” I said coldly, locking eyes with him. His eyes darkened. “Oh? So if I’m not a gentleman, then who is? Aiden? That cold-blooded bastard?” His hatred for Aiden practically oozed from every pore. It wasn’t just dislike—it ran deep, bone-deep. What the hell happened between them? “Aiden’s not who you think he is…” I said with a frown. “Of course you’d say that. You’re all under his spell, completely obsessed with him. So obviously you can’t see the truth.” Andrix released me. While he was distracted, I took my chance. I raised my foot and stomped hard on his. “Argh!” He stumbled back in pain, and I snatched the file from his desk and bolted. “Raelynn, you’re mine. Sooner or later, you’re going to be mine.” His eerie voice echoed behind me. I didn’t look back. I ran straight to my hospital room. To be safe, I locked the door behind me, opened my laptop, and got to work. Transferring the data went shockingly smoothly. So smoothly, it made me suspicious. The moment I finished, I called Ruby. “Start packing your mom’s things. We’re transferring her to another hospital. Be ready to move at any moment.” Ruby sounded confused, but she trusted me. After all, I’d saved her mother’s life. To her, I was beyond trustworthy. Soon, the opportunity came. I checked the hospital’s system and saw that Andrix had another surgery scheduled. I immediately let Ruby know the time and told her to prepare for the transfer during that window. But just as I was on my way to her room, my phone rang. It was Ruby. “Raelynn, something’s wrong!” She was sobbing uncontrollably on the other end. “My mom—she suddenly started vomiting blood. She’s unconscious!” “What? Did you call the nurse?” “I pressed the call button ten minutes ago! No one’s come yet. Is my mom going to die?!” My mind went blank. This wasn’t part of the plan. Everything was spiraling out of control. I instinctively pulled out my phone to call Andrix and demand an explanation—but then I remembered, he was in surgery tonight. His phone would be off. I rushed to the doctors’ offices and grabbed the first one I saw. “Where are the surgeons? Where’s the surgical team?” “I… I don’t know. I’m just in outpatient care, not surgery…” I asked around, but all the doctors who could perform surgery had mysteriously disappeared tonight. Out of options, I called the nearest hospital to ask them to send an ambulance. They refused. They said they couldn’t accept patients from another facility without knowing the full situation—and they wouldn’t take responsibility. In the end, I had no choice. I called Aiden. In Varken, Eclipse Pack held the most power. If anyone could fix this, it was him. “Stay where you are. I’m on my way.” He rushed over as soon as he heard what was happening, straight from Madam Salvatore’s room. “We’ll head to Ruby’s mother’s room first,” he said. “I’ll get her to the nearest hospital myself.”
