Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
The cheating incident was finally over. The werewolf police took David away, and also took the advisor who had covered for him. The principal apologized profusely to both me and Adrian and personally saw us out of the school. As we walked, Adrian kept looking like he wanted to say something. It wasn’t until we got in the car that he finally whispered a soft “thanks.” Seeing how awkward he looked, I couldn’t help but laugh. “What was that? You sound like a little girl.” “What little girl! I was just thanking you, okay?” Adrian’s face turned bright red. After a moment of hesitation, he added quietly, “Raelynn, thanks for helping me out today.” “You’re welcome.” I smiled and reached over to ruffle his hair. “Just make sure you study hard.” Adrian stared at me for a while, then let out a long sigh. “No wonder Aiden likes you…” I froze for a second and let out a helpless laugh. “Aiden already has someone he likes. Don’t you know that?” Adrian looked surprised. “You mean… Geraldine? That was my brother’s first love, but he’s long over her, okay?” “You just don’t know,” I said blandly. “A few days ago, your brother dropped a major business deal just to rush off and see her.” Adrian looked totally confused. “What do you mean, see her? My brother’s been buried in work these past few days. He hasn’t been near any woman, okay?” I was stunned. Had everything really just been a misunderstanding? Suddenly, the car came to a stop. A luxury car pulled up on our left. The door opened. Aiden’s face appeared through the window, looking grim as he glared at Adrian. “Cheating? What the hell happened?” Adrian scratched his head, a little embarrassed. “Aiden, it’s all handled. Thanks to Raelynn, or I’d be branded a cheater and kicked out of school by now!”Only then did Aiden turn his gaze to me. After a long pause, he finally said, “Thanks for helping Adrian.” His tone was cold, like he was talking to a stranger. I already knew I might’ve misunderstood him, but that kind of icy attitude still made me feel awful. I gave a quiet, flat “You’re welcome.” “Uh… Aiden, Raelynn, maybe I should get out?” Adrian coughed lightly, clearly looking for an excuse to escape. I saw right through him and spoke first. “If there’s nothing else, you two go on ahead. I’ve got something to do.” “Where are you going, Raelynn?” Adrian asked, confused. Aiden cut in indifferently, “Mind your own business.” I rolled my eyes internally, forced a smile, and jumped out of the car without another word. As I walked down the street, the more I thought about it, the more wronged I felt. Sure, I’d misunderstood him—but didn’t Aiden also jump to conclusions about me and Randall first? Who gave him the right to treat me like that? The longer I dwelled on it, the angrier I got. I suddenly had no desire to return to Eclipse Pack. Seriously, I was so done. Maybe I should just move out. That way, I wouldn’t have to see Aiden ever again. Out of sight, out of mind. Perfect. “Raelynn!” Someone called my name behind me. I turned and saw Adrian rushing up, panting hard. “What’s wrong?” Adrian caught up to me and looked uneasy. “Raelynn, are you and Aiden having a cold war?” “No. You’re overthinking it. Aiden and I don’t have that kind of relationship to begin with. You can’t call this a cold war.” I smiled faintly.“Don’t say that. I know something’s off between you two lately, but why can’t you just talk it out instead of being all passive-aggressive?” I sighed. “You wouldn’t understand, Adrian…” Adrian cut me off. “I’m only two years younger than you. And I know Aiden. Yeah, he talks to you like an ice cube, but he really cares about you.” “I’ve already decided to move out of Eclipse Pack, Adrian. You don’t need to say anything else.” Adrian was shocked. “Move out of our house? Why?” Looking at his stunned face, I explained, “Like you said, things aren’t good between me and your brother. Living under the same roof just makes things more awkward.” “You like Aiden, don’t you?” I immediately shook my head. “No.” Adrian laughed softly. “Then why are you avoiding him? The Raelynn I remember never backed down from someone she didn’t like.” I froze, unable to come up with a response. “If you like him, just admit it. I mean, even I can tell—he’s got a thing for you.” I didn’t say another word and fell into silence. I didn’t even notice when Adrian left. After thinking about it for a while, I ended up heading back to Eclipse Corporation. Whether or not things between me and Aiden had to end so badly… maybe I needed to think it through more. But as soon as I walked into the company, I saw a familiar figure I hadn’t expected. Taylor?!
