Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 61 Head-to-Head

I nearly laughed out loud. After a beat, I countered calmly, “Tell me, does the government hand out cash rewards for good Samaritans?” Sonny’s smile twitched. “Of course, and the rewards aren’t small either.” “Then let me ask a follow-up. When exactly is the money disbursed?” Her face stiffened. “Well… I’m not exactly sure about that.” I feigned confusion. “Huh? Didn’t you just say you could answer anything I asked? How come you don’t know this? Are you new to the job or something?” “I…” Sonny was speechless, her fair skin flushing with embarrassment. “The reward for acts of bravery? One thousand per case. You think I’d stage a public rescue just for a measly thousand? Please—I don’t need the money.” I gave her a pointed look. “Ms. Sonny, I suggest you do your homework next time before walking into an interview. You wouldn’t want to make a fool of yourself on live TV.” Then I turned to the cameraman, brow arched. “Be sure to cut that part—no need to embarrass Ms. Sonny like that.” Sonny shot to her feet, her expression darkening to a stormy gray. The cameraman looked like he wanted to melt into the floor. “Um… this is actually a live stream. Not recorded.” “Oh?” I blinked. “Then why haven’t you shut it off yet? Can’t you see how red Ms. Sonny’s face is?” Sonny blinked, then quickly composed herself. “Apologies for the brief interruption. There was a small error during the live broadcast. I hope our viewers can forgive the misstep. That concludes today’s segment. Thank you for your time, Ms. Raelynn. See you next time.” She threw the cameraman a sharp glance, signaling him to shut everything down. I stretched casually. “If that’s all, I’ll be getting back to work.” “Wait!” Sonny hissed. “Why did you humiliate me on purpose?!” I raised my brows, surprised she still had the gall to play the victim. “You should be asking yourself that question, Ms. Sonny.” Her smile dropped. “So, you’re not as dumb as you look. Fine, then I won’t beat around the bush. Stay away from Adam. Consider this your one and only warning.”I tilted my head. “Adam and I are just friends. You’re overthinking it.” “Liar! Friends don’t shoot couple campaigns together. Stop playing innocent. If I ever catch you near him again, I swear I’ll ruin you.” My eyes flicked toward the camera. With a sly smile, I said, “Oh, one more thing—I forgot to tell you earlier. That camera of yours? Pretty sure it’s still on.” Sonny froze. Two seconds later, she spun around in horror—and saw the glowing red recording light. Her face went paper white. Everything she’d just said—her possessive rant about Adam, her threats toward me—had been broadcast live. Thousands of viewers had seen her lose it. Panicked, she lunged forward and switched the camera off. Then she whirled on me with fire in her eyes. “You did that on purpose, didn’t you?! You knew the camera was still on!” I didn’t answer. Just smiled and opened the livestream on my phone. Sure enough, thousands had been watching. And the comment section was already blowing up: “So this is the sweet little Sonny everyone likes? Yikes.” “Manipulative, petty, obsessed. Ew.” “Ugh. Just seeing her makes me lose my appetite. As if Adam would ever want her.” “Okay but can we talk about how badass Raelynn was? That ‘I don’t need the money’ line? Iconic.” Humiliated, Sonny wiped her eyes and fled the office, dragging the cameraman along behind her. I watched her retreating figure and shook my head. Beautiful, yes. Smart? Not so much. Of course… I don’t count. With that farce finally over, I gathered some documents and went to find Aiden for a signature. Work, after all, couldn’t be delayed over something as silly as a jealous host.“Aiden, I—” I stepped into his office mid-sentence—and froze. His phone was sitting on the desk, screen still open to the livestream. I pointed and burst into laughter. “Ha! You were watching me! Aiden, were you that curious about how I did?” He calmly swiped his screen closed and glanced at me. “It popped up on its own.” Oh? Not going to admit it? “Well then, Mr. Aiden,” I said, grinning as I stepped closer, “What did you think of my answers?”
