Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
Something clicked in my mind. Witchbane? That herb was a poison unique to witches. It carried a distinct fragrance, rare and hard to come by; no ordinary werewolf could get their hands on it. Simon leaned in. “Raelyn, about the security footage you asked me to check—I did, but the corner where Tammy was standing turned out to be a blind spot. No cameras; no suspicious figures either.” My eyes narrowed. That meant the poisoner had to be someone from the crew—someone who knew exactly where the cameras were, and how to avoid suspicion. The picture sharpened in my head. I walked over to the director. “Director, no one left while I was gone, right?” He nodded. “That’s right. The moment you stepped out, the police locked down the set.” “Good. Then I need your help—gather everyone here.” The director blinked. “Why?” I smiled faintly. “Because I know who poisoned her.” His face lit up, and he immediately ordered his assistant to round up the staff. When the group had assembled, I swept my gaze across them, my tone ice-cold. “I’ll ask one last time, who poisoned her? Step forward on your own, or if I have to find you myself, you’ll regret it.” The crew shifted uneasily, trembling; but a full minute passed and no one moved. “Fine. Everyone, hands out.” Obediently, they extended their hands. Most of the crew were women, their hands pale and delicate like polished jade. I examined each pair carefully until my gaze halted on one particular female werewolf. “What’s that scent? What perfume are you wearing?” She smiled. “It’s just a peach fragrance. I don’t like florals.” I gave a thin laugh before snapping, my tone turning razor-sharp. “It’s you. You’re the one who poisoned her.” A flicker of panic flashed in her eyes. “You’re slandering me. What proof do you have?”I leaned in, inhaling deeply, then spoke low and cold. “Whoever hired you told you Witchbane has a pleasant fragrance. But they didn’t warn you that when its scent mixes with perfume, it produces something strange—and it can’t be washed away.” Her face drained of color. “And wouldn’t you know—it just so happens peach brings that odd note out even more. So… still going to deny it?” Other women stepped closer, sniffing the air around her. Their expressions shifted one by one. “She’s right. There’s a weird smell—so strange.” The werewolf collapsed onto the floor, terrified. I crouched down, eyes locked on hers. “Who’s behind you?” Her lips parted. “I don’t know.” My eyes narrowed. “Don’t know? Then who told you to poison her?” Pale as paper, she stammered, “Just some stranger. She said the herb would only cause diarrhea—that it would delay filming. I never thought it would be real poison…” I chuckled darkly. “And how much did she pay you?” “13,000 dollars. Cash.” That’s it? Geraldine really was cheap. “What’s your name?” She hesitated, then finally mumbled, “Romina.” I sighed, shaking my head. “I already called the police. You’d better turn yourself in—might shave a few years off your sentence.” At the mention of prison, she broke down completely, wailing on the floor. I had no patience for her sobbing. Pulling out my phone, I dialed Aiden. “What is it?” His voice was as cold and distant as ever. “Do me a favor and tell Geraldine this, if she ever dares to mess with my interests again, I won’t let her off.” My voice was sharper than his, colder too.Something in my tone made him falter. For the first time, I heard a ripple in his voice. “What did she do this time?” I let out a low laugh. “She knows perfectly well what she did. Just make sure she gets the message.” Aiden was silent for a moment before replying, “I’m sorry. Whatever damage she caused, I’ll compensate.” Disappointment sank heavy in my chest. “Aiden, you’re not her father. Why do you keep cleaning up her messes?” He didn’t answer my scorn, but I could feel the weight in his silence. “Fine. Protect her all you want.” I ended the call and immediately rang Jackson. “Jackson, check Geraldine’s recent transactions, or those of the people around her. Flag any that hit 13,000 dollars; the recipient’s name should be Romina.” “Raelyn, that woman tried to go after you again?” Jackson’s voice bristled with anger. I gave a cold laugh. “Yeah. She’s really something, isn’t she?” “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure she pays,” Jackson growled before hanging up.
