Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 264 Who Poisoned Her?

The werewolf officer gave Adam a brief smile before his face hardened. “Mr. Adam, I’m only doing my job. If you were the suspect, I might let you go out of respect for the Eclipse Pack; but this young lady doesn’t seem to be one of yours, does she?” Adam froze. The officer wasn’t wrong. Tammy wasn’t a member of the Eclipse Pack; he feared the Pack, but Tammy held no sway over him. Should I bring up the name of the Midnight Barpack? I wondered. As I hesitated, another voice suddenly rang out from the doorway. “What about the Storme Pack? Does our word carry any weight here?” Randall strolled in with a smile. I stared at him in surprise. “Why are you here?” “Of course I came. I heard about it from people on set. I invested in this show too, didn’t I? Naturally, I have to check in.” The werewolf officer’s expression changed instantly. “Of course it counts, of course! What an honor, Mr. Randall himself!” The fawning made my stomach turn. I hadn’t expected Randall’s Storme Pack to hold enough power to sway the police. Randall chuckled. “I put money into a production, only to find its leading lady locked up at the station. Tell me…” Before he could finish, the officer was already grinning ear to ear. “The Storme Pack’s former Alpha has close ties with our chief. Say no more; she’ll be released right away!” By the time Tammy walked out of the station, she looked as if she’d just woken from a bad dream. She turned to Randall gratefully. “Thank you, Mr. Randall.” Randall’s gaze lingered on me, his smile laced with meaning. “Thank Raelyn instead.” Tammy caught on instantly. Hugging me, she whispered in my ear, “Raelyn, see how good Mr. Randall is? Sure, on the surface, he came to save me, but in truth he was looking out for you. Why hang yourself on Aiden when you could choose someone like Mr. Randall?” I shot her a look. “Your mess isn’t even resolved, and you’re already gossiping? Honestly, I should’ve left you in that cell.” She scrunched her face in a pout. “Okay, okay, my bad.” I turned to Randall. “Regardless, thank you for stepping in for Tammy today.” He raised a brow. “Then how about repaying me with yourself?” “Repay with dirt,” I snapped. Randall frowned. “Dirt? Really? That’s your idea of payback?” I glared at him. “Get lost.” Randall only laughed. “Fine. I’ve got business to take care of anyway. I’ll leave you be.” “Couldn’t be happier. Don’t let me keep you.” He didn’t mind my sharp words in the slightest; in fact, he looked even more amused. Once Randall left, I turned back and noticed Adam’s expression had darkened. “What’s wrong?” I asked. He shook his head, sighing. “Nothing. I just feel useless.” “That’s not true. You’re an entertainer; if you had the kind of pull to sway the police, you’d have been blacklisted from the industry ages ago.” It was part jest, part comfort. Adam forced a small smile. “Alright. I get it.” The three of us were just about to get in the car and return to set when a harsh voice rang out. “Tammy!” The sound made Tammy flinch. She darted behind me, trembling. Adrian came running up, grabbed her collar from behind me, and yanked her forward. “I was willing to forgive you for sneaking off without me, even planned to come see you later. But now you pull a stunt this big?” Tammy swallowed hard. “How did you find out?” That set Adrian off. “So you weren’t even going to tell me?”Tammy dropped her gaze. “I didn’t mean that.” But the moment she lowered her head, she spotted Adam nearby. Her eyes narrowed. “Adam, was it you who snitched?” Adam rubbed his nose, expression calm. “It wasn’t me.” Adrian pinched her cheek hard, making her yelp in pain. “Now’s the time to explain—what the heck happened?” Watching them squabble beside me gave me a headache. “I’ll tell you. Odds are this poisoning was Geraldine’s doing.” “Geraldine?” All three of them spoke at once. Seeing their disbelief, I asked, “What, none of you suspected her?” Adrian hesitated. “Geraldine may be a little delicate, but she’s always been decent. She’s treated us in the Eclipse Pack well. I don’t think she’s that kind of person.” I sneered. “Is Tammy a member of the Eclipse Pack?” That shut Adrian up. I turned to Adam. “Tell me, can someone survive four or five years in this industry, climbing to her level, without pulling strings or using tricks?” Adam, who knew the filth of the entertainment world better than anyone, fell silent. He stopped defending Geraldine. Tammy, on the other hand, grew anxious. “So you’re saying Geraldine tampered with my pastries?” I flicked her forehead. “Use your brain. We need proof before we can say that.” The other three nodded in agreement and followed me back to set. I asked Tammy to bring me the pastries. Holding the box close, I inhaled. A faint, familiar scent hit my nose.
