Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 229 A Tough Guy Pouting

Aiden flexed his wrist, face blank. “The guest bed was too hard. I couldn’t sleep on it.” “What bed could possibly be harder than the floor?” I glared at him through gritted teeth. “You really have no shame.” Aiden chuckled. “Careful; we’ve got company. Not the best thing to say out loud.” He cast a casual glance at the butler. The butler gave an awkward laugh, wiped sweat from his brow, muttered an apology, and hurried out. Poor man. If Mr. Greg found out Aiden and I were staying under the same roof, who knows how he’d punish him? Aiden still wore that infuriating, playful grin. I took a deep breath, trying to steady the frustration bubbling inside me. “I’m heading to the hospital to check on Wesley later. You coming with me?” The smile in Aiden’s eyes vanished at once. “No.” I sneered. “What, planning to sit here and have tea with Imperial Pack’s Alpha instead?” He froze, then quickly corrected himself. “Fine. I’ll drive you.” At the hospital, we walked into Wesley’s ward and found him laughing and chatting with Trent. He looked in good spirits. “You’re here,” Wesley greeted with a nod—though when he saw Aiden, he paused. Seeing the color in Wesley’s face, I stepped forward. “Lie down. Let me check your back.” “No!” “No!” Two voices rang out in unison. Wesley’s face burned with embarrassment, while Aiden’s expression was ice-cold as his eyes locked onto Wesley. I stared at the pair of them, exasperated. “Seriously? I’m a doctor right now. What’s there to be embarrassed about?” Without giving Wesley a chance to resist, I pulled up his shirt. His wounds had started knitting together, the skin healing well. I nodded in satisfaction. “Looking good. Two or three more days and you’ll be almost fully healed.”Pinned under my hand, Wesley found he couldn’t move at all. He gawked. “Raelyn, how are you this strong? Are you even a woman?” Of course, I couldn’t admit my Alpha identity; I only shot back with a smirk. “If I’m not, are you?” Among wolves, strength was everything. Even if his injury played a part, being restrained so easily in front of others left Wesley blushing furiously. Aiden’s face had already darkened like a thundercloud. His voice came sharp as a blade. “Done yet?” I caught the irritation in his tone. Wesley, on the other hand, smirked. “Well, well—jealous, aren’t we? You’re jealous of your brother-in-law? Aiden, you’re pathetic.” Aiden shot Wesley a look sharp enough to warn him off. “Why are you glaring at me? Raelyn, look at him—your man’s vicious.” Aiden narrowed his eyes. “Who are you calling vicious?” “What if I am? You’re still living under Imperial Pack’s roof. If you bare your fangs at me, I’ll throw you out myself.” “Enough!” I snapped, my temper flaring. “Both of you are injured. Can’t you stop bickering for once?” Honestly. Put them in the same room and they were at each other’s throats; the noise alone gave me a pounding headache. Wesley glared at Aiden, grumbling, “If it weren’t for Raelyn, I’d make you regret it.” “You dare try? Don’t blame me when I don’t hold back.” Aiden’s lips curved into a cold smile. At nearly six foot three, radiating raw dominance, and smiling with that razor-edged cruelty, Aiden looked downright terrifying. Wesley swallowed hard, finally falling silent; clearly afraid Aiden would actually make good on the threat. Then, out of nowhere, Aiden frowned, eyes shining with mock hurt. “Wife, he picked on me first.” I froze, nearly choking on air. Is Aiden pouting? Wesley and Trent both gaped, disbelief etched on their faces.Wait, what did he just say? Wife? Fury flared; I curled my fingers and knocked him hard on the head. “We haven’t mated. Don’t call me that.” “Sooner or later,” Aiden replied with a smug grin, brimming with confidence. Trent rose abruptly, his expression unreadable. “I’ve got things to take care of. I’ll be going.” He left without another word. I shot Aiden a withering glare, muttered a quick apology to Wesley, then dragged Aiden out of the room. Wesley’s POV: When they were gone, I pulled out my phone and made a call. “Come back. I know you didn’t leave.” A few minutes later, Trent returned, smelling of smoke, his eyes faintly red. “How’d you know I was still here?” I snorted. “Please. I know you too well. Your eyes are practically glued to Raelyn. If I couldn’t see what’s going on in your head, then I’d be an idiot after all these years as your brother.” Trent gave a bitter laugh. “But Raelyn has a boyfriend. They suit each other. My feelings don’t matter.” I hesitated. “If this were anyone else, I’d back you up; tell you to chase your happiness. But Raelyn… once she makes up her mind, nothing can change it. And with Grandfather already set on introducing her to someone he thinks is perfect, Aiden’s going to have his share of obstacles too.” Trent shook his head. “It’s fine. I know it’s impossible. I’ll let it go slowly.” I bumped his shoulder with mine. “Drink?” Trent let out a sudden laugh. “Yeah. Drink.”
