Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
“Raelynn, what’s going on?” Raven sounded genuinely thrilled to receive my rare call. “Master, I need a favor.” I almost never addressed him that way, so he immediately grew serious. “Raelynn, did something happen?” “Do you still have a century-old Spirit Fruit? The older, the better.” He hesitated. “Those aren’t easy to find. The older they are, the rarer. The one I have—an eight-hundred-year-old—I spent a fortune collecting. What do you need it for?” “Obviously to save someone.” Raven sighed, sounding wronged. “Can’t you talk to me a little more gently? I’m still your master, you know…” I wasn’t in the mood for banter. “I need you to have it air-delivered today. I want it in my hands within four hours. Make it fast.” I didn’t wait for his reply and hung up immediately. Turning back around, I saw Aiden’s lips had gone pale from the spreading toxins. He looked like he was on the verge of fainting. “Aiden! Stay with me!” “Aiden, hold on! I swear I’ll heal you!” Aiden tried to comfort me with a weak smile. But the very next second, his head rolled to the side, and he passed out. “Aiden!” I cried out in panic. Right now, all I could do was wait for Raven to get the Spirit Fruit to me. But four hours passed with no delivery in sight. Feeling more and more uneasy, I called Raven—only to find out that he had absentmindedly sent it to the Eclipse Pack in Varken. I immediately called the Eclipse Pack’s villa landline. No one answered—just the hollow tone of a disconnected line. The next second, an unknown number called me. I didn’t recognize it, but the voice that came through the speaker made my heart drop.“Raelynn, are you waiting for something? The Spirit Fruit, maybe?” Andrix’s voice was thick with smugness. My growing dread was confirmed. The life-saving Spirit Fruit had ended up in Andrix’s hands. “I heard Aiden’s in critical condition. This fruit’s not for him, is it?” My stomach sank. “You had something to do with this?” He spoke lightheartedly, clearly pleased. “Of course not. I just happened to know about it.” “Andrix, give it back.” “Why should I?” he sneered. “What a coincidence—I just so happened to stop by Eclipse Pack and stumbled on the package. If I hadn’t gotten curious and taken a peek, I wouldn’t have discovered such a priceless little treasure.” “What do you want!” I snapped, unable to suppress my fury. My outburst seemed to please him. He threw out his trump card without hesitation. “You want the Spirit Fruit? Then meet my conditions.” I forced myself to stay calm. “Say it. What do you want?” “That’s not how you ask a favor,” he said with a mocking lilt. “Why don’t you guess what I want most?” His gloating tone made me grit my teeth. I didn’t have to guess—I knew exactly what he was after. “Eclipse Pack’s shares?” He chuckled darkly. “You really do know me well. Why not just break up with Aiden and be with me? Then not only will you get the Spirit Fruit—you’ll get the entire Eclipse Pack, too…” I cut him off coldly. “Andrix. Is there anything else you want?” “Of course not. I only want two things—Eclipse Pack and you. Nothing else matters.” “Andrix, I’m your brother’s girlfriend. Your future sister-in-law.” He laughed wickedly. “Oh, I know. Doesn’t that make it even more exciting?” “You’re disgusting.” I couldn’t hold back anymore. “Say more.”He was clearly enjoying this twisted game. Seeing that reasoning wouldn’t work, I decided to play along and lured him into a trap. “Come to Capital City. Bring the Spirit Fruit. We’ll talk in person.” There was no way I’d ever hand over Eclipse Pack to him—but I couldn’t let him know that just yet. If I did, I’d risk losing everything. He wasn’t so easily convinced. “You’re not planning to jump me the second I show up, are you? Just so you know, if I feel even slightly threatened, I’ll destroy the fruit on the spot.” I couldn’t be bothered to argue with a lunatic. I softened my tone. “Relax. I won’t trick you. If we’re talking about a contract for share transfer, don’t you think we need to sit down face to face?” He still didn’t fully trust me, but in the end, he reluctantly agreed to meet. Varken was only a two-hour flight from Capital City. With Aiden unconscious from the poison and unlikely to wake soon, I had no choice. I asked Dr. Chandler to keep an eye on him while I left alone to meet Andrix.
