Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 206 Scheming Wesley

The girl froze for a second, realizing I’d basically called her brain-damaged. Her face turned bright red with anger. “What did you just say? I’m Wendy of the Whitemoon Pack! Who the hell do you think you are, talking to me like that?” As she spoke, she raised her hand and tried to slap me. I tilted my head slightly and caught her wrist mid-air. Wendy couldn't move, glaring at me. “What the hell are you? How dare you stop me! You want me to have my dad kick your whole family out of Capital City?” “Oh? Ms. Wendy is really something. You’re going to kick everyone from the Imperial Pack out of Capital City? Now that’s scary.” Wesley had gotten up at some point and walked over to stand beside me. He had a faint smile on his lips, but his tone was ice cold. “Want me to call the Whitemoon Pack Alpha and ask him how he plans to make that happen?” Wendy froze in place. “...Wesley? You’re here too?” Wesley stared at her without a hint of warmth. Wendy glanced at me and suddenly seemed to realize something. “She’s from the Goldberg family?” “My sister. Mr. Greg’s granddaughter. Got a problem with that?” Wendy shook her head so fast it was a blur. “Of course not! No problem at all. This dress looks amazing on Ms. Salvatore—why don’t I just let her have it?” Hearing her call me “Ms. Salvatore” made my skin crawl. I corrected her flatly, “My last name is Beck.” “Ms. Beck, I’m so sorry—I didn’t know any better. Please forgive me.” Gone was the arrogant heiress from moments before. Now she was pitiful and groveling. I almost laughed. At least she knew how to read the room. I gave a small nod and decided to let it go. But just because I let it go didn’t mean Wesley would. “Want to make it up to her?” he said with a smirk. “Then pay for the dress.” I stared at Wesley, who looked like some sleazy conman. The whole thing struck me as absurdly funny. Wendy’s face twitched. I felt a little bad for her—just a little. The price tag showed eight million. Even with a discount, it wouldn’t go below five. “What? Don’t want to?” Wesley sighed when she hesitated. “Guess I’ll give Mr. White a call then. Let’s see what he thinks about what you just said.” Wendy panicked. “I’ll pay! Don’t call him!” She pulled a card from her purse and reluctantly handed it to the saleswoman. After the transaction, the saleswoman returned the card with a professional smile. “Ms. Wendy, you still have fifty yuan and eighty cents remaining.” “Pfft—” I couldn’t help myself. I burst into laughter. “Ms. Wendy, times must be tough.” Wendy’s face darkened at my teasing. But with Wesley still there, she didn’t dare throw a fit. She forced a smile and asked timidly, “If there’s nothing else, may I… may I go now?” There wasn’t much fun left in dragging it out, so I nodded, giving her permission to leave. Wesley had clearly had enough, too. “Fine, go. Next time you see my sister, take a detour.” Wendy’s eyes were practically shooting sparks, but she forced herself to smile and nodded before finally turning to leave. As soon as she disappeared through the exit, I couldn’t stop myself—I burst into full-blown laughter. “Seriously? You’re this happy over draining someone’s wallet? You’ve got no sympathy at all,” Wesley said, watching me laugh like an idiot. I looked him over and raised an eyebrow. “You’re no better. You’re the one who brought up the idea. Total scammer.” He rolled his eyes. “I was doing it for your sake. Or do you really think it’s fine to let someone cuss you out and walk away like nothing happened?” That caught me off guard. Then I grinned. “Aww, are you worried about me?”“Worried? About you? Please. If it weren’t for the fact that you’ve got Imperial Pack blood in you, I wouldn’t have bothered.” I knew he was just being stubborn, so I didn’t argue. “Got a free dress and didn’t spend a dime. Let’s go home.” Wesley watched me carrying the dress toward the exit and asked, “Not getting anything else?” “Nope. Let’s go.” Then, as if something occurred to him, he said, “Grandpa said I should help you fit in with our crowd. Why don’t you come with me to the wine tasting tonight?” I had zero interest in any wine tasting. “No thanks. Not interested.” “I just helped you out, and now you’re dodging me? Don’t tell me you’re pretending that doesn’t count.” I glared at him. “That’s how you use a favor?” Still, he wasn’t wrong. I did owe him one. “I’m short a date anyway. Come on.” Wesley gave me a once-over and wrinkled his nose. “You came out barefaced? No makeup at all?” I looked down at myself—sure enough, I hadn’t put any on. “Is there a makeup room nearby?” The saleswoman practically flew over. “Ms. Beck, we have a makeup room and a fitting room right here. You can change into the dress you just bought. You’ll definitely be the star of the wine tasting tonight.” Now that’s a smooth talker—she knew exactly what to say. I smiled and nodded. “Thank you.”
