Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 195 My Resignation

Geraldine’s POV In the office, I was seriously working through documents with Aiden. A female colleague who sat near Raelynn came in, cautiously reporting that Raelynn had asked for leave. She added that Raelynn stormed off and said her pay could be docked. Aiden’s eyebrows lifted slightly, and his tone chilled. “If she wants to leave, let her. I’ve been too lenient with her.” Seeing his irritation, I was secretly pleased, but I kept it off my face and spoke in a gentle, persuasive tone. “Sir, don’t blame Raelynn. She’s always been proud. It’s only natural she wouldn’t like being spoken to that way.” “She doesn’t like it?” Aiden’s eyes turned cold. “This is a company that runs by the book. It’s not her personal playground.” His disappointment was obvious. “Alright, don’t be upset,” I said, quickly shifting the subject. “Sir, look—this quarter’s plans. I was thinking we could approach them like this...” As I explained the report, I turned back to find Aiden staring at me intently. “Sir? Is something on my face?” I asked with a light laugh. He blinked, then looked away, his gaze clearing. “No. You just look a lot like someone I used to know.” “Someone from your past?” I teased gently. “You don’t strike me as the type surrounded by women. Don’t tell me I look like an old flame or childhood sweetheart.” He didn’t deny it. “Well, I’m flattered. To think I resemble your ex.” I smiled and dropped the subject before he got annoyed. Watching me work, he suddenly sighed. “Raelynn used to be like that too. Completely focused. She had this unshakable confidence. She was like a star—so bright, she dimmed everyone else.” I lowered my head and gave a modest smile. “Then I hope I can be like her one day—just as outstanding.” “You might,” he said with a faint smile. “Keep working hard.”Then something occurred to him. “You said your name’s Geraldine. So you two went to the same school?” I nodded. “Yeah, though I majored in design. Compared to her, I’m still lacking.” “Got it. You can head out now.” I gave a quick nod and left the office. I didn’t return to my desk right away. Instead, I went to the restroom. At this hour, everyone was busy working. The restroom was empty and silent, save for the whir of the vent fan. I walked to the last stall, shut the door, and pulled out my phone. I dialed a number. “Jiarou? How’s it going?” came the low voice of a male werewolf on the other end. “Mr. Lin,” I said, admiring my shiny nails. “Your plan’s almost done.” Raelynn’s POV Over the next few days, Aiden and I kept putting on our show—arguing, avoiding each other. Soon, all of Eclipse Corporation knew we were on the brink of a breakup. Satisfied, I decided to pour on some gasoline. At a meeting, Geraldine proposed expanding the company into the perfume industry. Everyone else liked the idea. I was the only one who objected, and Aiden publicly “reprimanded” me. I stormed out of the meeting. After that, Aiden handed the whole project to Geraldine. The way he favored her had everyone whispering. It didn’t take long before rumors started flying—about Geraldine becoming the new future Mrs. President. Some watched with gossip-fueled glee. Others were unsettled. I went straight to Aiden’s office. After spending a little time tangled up with him, I stormed out again, shouting: “I’m done! I quit!”Right after, I sent out the resignation email I’d already written—CC’d to every department across the company. Then, in full view of everyone, I began clearing out my desk. Now they knew. I wasn’t bluffing—I was really resigning. Geraldine’s desk was right next to mine. Watching me wordlessly packing up, she walked over with fake concern. “You’re leaving like this? The president must be heartbroken.” “Whether he is or not has nothing to do with me. We’ve already broken up.” Geraldine’s eyes widened in disbelief. She looked me over, testing the waters. “You really broke up? When?” “Just now. Texted him,” I said flatly. “We’re not a good match. There’s no point dragging it out.” She still seemed unsure. “Do you not like him anymore?” I paused mid-pack, letting my face fall into something sad. “What good is liking someone if there’s no trust? All that’s left is suspicion and pain.” That seemed to convince her. She smiled faintly. “Hey, don’t be so hasty. Maybe it’s all a misunderstanding.” “You stay here and work hard. Maybe someday you’ll take my place... Anyway, I’m off.” I didn’t say another word. I carried my things to HR, collected my final paycheck, and walked out.
