Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
That was when it hit me—Randall had just been trying to warn me. "If I’m not mistaken, that guy had a camera. Pretty sure he snapped a bunch of pictures," Randall continued. “Wouldn’t be surprised if this makes the headlines tomorrow.” My expression darkened. “Did you see his face?” Randall paused, then smiled. "That’s not really something I’m at liberty to share. But if you want to know, Ms. Beck, you’ll have to trade me something." I blinked. "Trade you what?" "Come work for my company. I’ll even give you a VP position." I rejected him without hesitation. "Absolutely not. There’s no way I’m switching over to your team.” "Then I guess that’s that." Randall shrugged, sounding almost regretful. He swirled the drink in his glass and turned to leave. "If we can’t make a deal, Ms. Beck, you’ll have to find another path." I didn’t stop him. If I let Randall use this against me once, he’d keep coming back for more. There’d always be another demand. As for tomorrow’s headlines—if I handled the PR well, I could get ahead of it. I let out a quiet sigh and started heading back toward Aiden—only to be stopped by someone stepping into my path. My mind was a mess, but I still managed a polite "Excuse me" as I tried to pass. The person didn’t budge. That was when I finally looked up—and saw Yvonne, the same woman who’d been kicked out of the company just a few days ago. Yvonne might’ve been kicked out, but she looked like she was doing just fine. Sure, she wasn’t a director anymore, but she was still the golden girl of the Starborn Pack. She clearly wasn’t hurting. “Well, if it isn’t Raelyn. Long time no see,” Yvonne said, smug as ever. I gave her a faint smile. "If you’re not here for anything important, Ms. Yvonne, step aside. Don’t block the way."I had zero interest in getting tangled up with her. Yvonne’s expression twisted with anger. "Who do you think you’re talking to, Raelyn? Keep pushing me, and you’ll regret it!" I stared at her, unbothered. “Whatever you say.” She laughed bitterly. “Aren’t you the least bit curious why Andrix so firmly sided with Lawson Corp? Why did he trust them without even hearing your side?” I’d been ready to walk away, but that made me stop cold. I turned to look at her. “What exactly do you know?” Yvonne raised her chin, full of arrogance. "I already told you, act like that and you’ll regret it. I work at Lawson Corp now—I know a lot of things. The question is, do you think I’ll tell you any of them?" My voice dropped. “Let me guess—you think I’m going to panic, apologize, and beg you to tell me what’s going on?” Yvonne looked momentarily stunned. “You really don’t get it, Yvonne. I’ll dig up the truth myself—and I’ll uncover way more than you ever could.” I smirked. “But thanks for the confirmation. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be so sure Lawson Corp is behind all this.” Her face twisted, and she pointed a finger at me, voice shrill. “Don’t get ahead of yourself, Raelyn!” Then she stormed off. I couldn’t help but laugh to myself. She really wasn’t built for this kind of game. I lingered for a bit longer, letting the breeze clear my head, but soon I felt dizzy and decided to head back into the banquet hall. Yvonne was gone. I found an empty table to sit down at, but Adrian was nowhere in sight. I figured he was probably off with Tammy. So I waved over a waiter and ordered a drink. I took a few small sips, enjoying the rare moment of quiet. Then the dizziness hit hard. Confused, I stood up, thinking I’d go upstairs to find a room to rest. Just then, the same waiter came over again, gesturing to lead me to a room. Alpha, there was something in that drink, Freya warned me. My eyes snapped open. That waiter—he was the one who served me. There was definitely something off about him. He was just a low-ranking werewolf—he wouldn’t dare pull something like this on his own. Someone had put him up to it. I played along, pretending to be dazed. While he wasn’t looking, I slipped a detox pill out of the small pouch I always carried and swallowed it. It was one of my custom formulas—super effective against most sedatives. And with my Alpha bloodline, it kicked in fast. Within minutes, my head was clear again. But I didn’t confront him right away. I needed to know who was behind this. Still pretending to be woozy, I leaned on him for support as he led me to the room. I gave him a weak smile. "Thanks for helping me over. You can go now—I’ll be fine." He nodded and quietly shut the door behind him. The room was dim, with only a faint glow slipping in from outside. The silence was almost unsettling. It was a fancy suite. In the back, there was another door—slightly open. I could hear someone murmuring inside. I crept closer and leaned toward the doorway. "I told you, I can’t drink anymore. Stop making me…" The voice was familiar. I slowly pushed the door open and saw a young werewolf lying on the big bed, turned slightly to the side. The room reeked of alcohol. I frowned. Was this their plan? Drug me, dump me here, wait for me to lose control with some blackout drunk guy—and then use it to destroy me? That’s honestly pathetic. I stayed by the door, keeping quiet, watching everything. There was only the faint scent of roses in the room—no chemical traces. The guy wasn’t drugged. Just drunk. Still wary, I turned on my phone’s flashlight and shined it on his face. The guy passed out on the bed, snoring loudly, was none other than Tammy’s brother—Jensen.
