Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
I calmly pulled out my phone and looked up that Twitter handle—it turned out to be Yvonne. I was a little surprised, but I had to play it cool. Feigning ignorance, I turned to the others and asked, “Can anyone tell whose Twitter this is? I can’t tell at all.” A colleague glanced at the screen and instantly recognized it. “Isn’t that Yvonne? I know her Twitter handle like the back of my hand, I even complimented how nice it sounded once.” I turned to look for Yvonne, only to see her jogging toward the exit. I couldn’t help but smile; I dashed over, blocked her path, and dragged her back. “It’s you?” the woman said, eyeing Yvonne with clear confusion. Naturally, Yvonne started denying it. “How could it possibly be me? I changed my Twitter handle ages ago, that account isn’t mine.” A coworker came over and glanced at Yvonne’s phone. “Let me see, looks like she really did change her Twitter handle. Maybe it really wasn’t her?” But another colleague who was clearly familiar with Yvonne’s antics saw through it right away. “Ha! Who knows if it’s just a side account. Let’s be real—Yvonne’s always busy networking with men left and right. Who knows if she even remembers Mac here.” Yvonne’s face turned pale. “What nonsense are you spouting!” “Is it nonsense?” the colleague shot back. “Everyone here sees it loud and clear. I’m not even in your department, so I’ve got nothing to lose. Ms. Yvonne, you’ve probably got more than one man on the hook, huh?” I recognized the one speaking—a sharp-looking girl named Harper. She’d just graduated from college and had already earned a reputation in the operations department for being direct and no-nonsense. I hadn’t expected Yvonne to have made enemies even in ops. I couldn’t help but click my tongue in my head. “If you don’t know how to speak properly, then just shut up! Who gave you the right to slander me?” Yvonne snapped. Harper didn’t back down. “You seriously think this is slander? Don’t you know in your heart if it is or not? And now you’re even trying to frame Ms. Beck? Have you no self-respect at all?” What a show. Clearly, Harper was a fighter; her verbal attacks were just as strong as her presence. But for now, the priority was putting Yvonne in her place. “So you said you changed your Twitter handle, right?” I looked up, locking eyes with her. I didn’t flinch. “You said you changed it a long time ago, didn’t you?” Thinking I was trying to trick her into saying more, Yvonne replied directly, “Anyway, I changed it before all this happened. Definitely before.” I wasn’t fazed. “I’ll give you one more chance, are you sure you don’t want to tell the truth?” Yvonne paused. “What do you mean?” “I accidentally took a screenshot earlier while checking the Twitter handle. Want to take a look?” “You took a screenshot?” Yvonne’s face went ghost-white. “Why would you do that?” “I just thought someone might try to deny it.” I waved my phone in front of her. “So? Want to see it? When I checked it just now, it still had your name on it.” “Fine! I admit it. I did it,” she finally broke down, face twisted in frustration. Her mental defenses completely collapsed, and she finally confessed with a bitter expression. I just laughed. “Gotcha. I was bluffing. I didn’t actually take a screenshot; I just wanted to see if you’d admit it.” Truth be told, I really hadn’t taken one. I’d just been testing her—didn’t expect her to cave that fast. She was such a coward; a little scare and she spilled everything. The woman, who’d been listening for a while, finally stepped forward, eyes blazing with fury. “Why the heck did you seduce my husband? You little slut! You knew he already had a mate—why did you still go after him?” Yvonne’s face stiffened, her forced smile practically crumbling. “There’s nothing between me and your husband. It was all just harmless flirting. Honestly, I’m not even into him, it’s he who kept pestering me...” Harper rolled her eyes. “Oh, please. Don’t fall for her crap. Yvonne’s known all over the company as a social butterfly; your husband’s far from the only one she’s been flirting with!” The woman couldn’t hold back any longer. She charged forward and slapped Yvonne across the face. “You really are something, huh? Well, today I’m going to give you the punishment you deserve, let’s see who’ll step in to protect you now!” I stepped to the side, giving the furious woman a clear path to deal with the homewrecker. Yvonne’s petite frame was no match for the sturdy woman. Within seconds, her vision was spinning; red handprints covered her face.“All right, that’s enough! Any more and someone’s going to end up dead,” I said, pretending to intervene as I pulled the woman aside. “I’m calling the cops! You’re trying to kill me!” Yvonne screamed, clutching her face. The woman spat at her. “Kill you? I should be reporting you for stealing my husband! You’re disgusting, flirting with that many men. Aren’t you afraid of karma?” “That’s enough. No more shouting,” I said firmly. I tugged her wrist a few times, then shot Harper a look. She immediately got the message and pulled the woman to the back. “I never thought something like this would happen in my company.” Aiden had finally arrived.
