Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
I slowly stood up, facing the female werewolf in front of me—she looked to be in her thirties. “I’m Raelyn. Is there something you need from me?” She stared at my face for a second, stunned; then her expression twisted in fury. “So you’re Raelyn! You filthy homewrecker, why are you seducing my husband?” I frowned. “First of all, I’m not seducing your husband. Second, I don’t even know who your husband is. Are you sure you haven’t mistaken me for someone else?” I kept my tone polite, barely. But the woman acted like she’d lost her mind. Before I could say anything more, she lunged at me, clawing at my clothes. “I knew you’d try to play innocent! You’ve got my husband so hooked he hasn’t come home in days, and now you’re standing here pretending to be some helpless little flower? Oh, I’ll tear your clothes to shreds and show everyone exactly what kind of person you are!” This was Eclipse Corporation—she had the nerve to cause a scene like this in broad daylight? Not on my watch. I gave her a little shove—nothing serious—and she landed right on her butt. She couldn’t win with brute force, so she dropped to the floor and started wailing. “There’s no justice anymore! Mistresses are bullying wives now—where’s the law?” People began whispering all around us, but I didn’t care. After a while, the woman realized she was being watched like a circus act. She stopped crying and scrambled to her feet. “What, you’ve got nothing to say now? You obviously seduced my husband. Why are you so quiet? Feeling guilty?” She cried with such conviction, I realized she probably wasn’t here just to pick a fight—her mate had likely actually cheated on her. “Can you tell me who your husband is?” I asked, sighing. Why do I always end up cleaning up other people’s messes? “He’s a key employee in your company—one of the tech department leads! Mac!” Her words came out with a heavy accent, but they were clear enough, though they earned a round of laughter from the employees nearby. “What are you laughing at?” she asked, confused. “What’s so funny?”The employees immediately broke into a chorus of snickers and whispers. “Wow, never expected Mac to have such a… fiery mate behind the scenes.” “Man, the stuff he brags about. Unbelievable.” “Poor woman got played hard… that’s actually kind of sad.” I took a deep breath. “Are you saying you and Mac are mates?” The woman shrieked, “Of course! Why would I lie about that? If you don’t believe me, I’ll shift right now and prove it to you!” “No, there’s no need for that. I believe you.” I shook my head. “But I still have to be honest with you, I don’t even know Mac.” She looked completely unconvinced. “That’s impossible! I saw your name in his phone contacts. That night he came home drunk, he had a message open with your name on it—and you even called him ‘darling’ in your reply. Don’t try to lie to me now!” I arched an eyebrow. “And after that… you didn’t confront him?” “Of course not! My husband has always been a loyal, hardworking man. Clearly you were the one who seduced him. I saw the messages—you were the one calling him darling!” I laughed, exasperated. “I’m telling you the truth, I’ve never even met him. Look around, ask any of the employees. Do I have any connection with him?” She hesitated. The other employees were still chuckling, and their looks said it all. But the woman held her ground. “I don’t care what they say, they’re all in on it with you! I don’t believe any of them!” “In that case, can you explain to me why I’d go after your man?” She lifted her chin and said proudly, “Because he’s an outstanding man! He’s handsome, kind, works for a big company like this, and he’s won awards! Of course, a woman would fall for him—it’s only natural!” I touched my chin, pretending to think. “So, what you’re saying is… he’s quite exceptional?” “Of course!” she said firmly, which triggered more giggles from the crowd. I tilted my head. “Do you know who my boyfriend is?” She blinked. “Who?” “My boyfriend is the heir to the Eclipse Pack—and the CEO of this company. Now, tell me this, one’s a tall, rich, and powerful CEO… the other’s a mid-level tech guy. Which one would I choose?” The woman stared at me. “Well, of course, the CEO.” “Right. And now tell me, am I pretty?” I gave her a warm smile. She looked me up and down, nodded with admiration, and said, “Pretty. You’re very pretty.” “Exactly. So why would someone like me waste her time on an average werewolf?” Confidence was my superpower. Every card I could lay on the table—my background, my standing—matched me with the best of the best. Why would I even glance at some so-called tech lead? “Even the CEO had to start from scratch to win me over. You think he stands a chance of catching my eye?” My words came out smooth and sure. She blinked, her anger fading into disbelief. “Then who’s the woman my husband’s cheating with?” I looked down. “Do you remember the girl’s Twitter handle?” Her face lit up. “Yes! I knew I’d need proof, so while my husband was sleeping, I snuck a look and copied it down from his phone contacts. Look—this is the one!”
