Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 170 Jealous for No Reason

Raelyn’s POV: After that, Aiden and I drove Adrian back to school. As soon as we pulled up to the entrance, Adrian’s eyes locked onto something in the distance—his expression full of surprise. I followed his gaze and blinked in disbelief. “Isn’t that Tammy?” Tammy was walking toward the school gate, hand in hand with a young male werewolf. “She’s not seriously dating someone already, is she?” The moment the words left my mouth, I realized my mistake and quickly shut up. Everyone knew Tammy had a thing for Adrian. No matter how flirtatious she could be, there was no way she’d fall for someone else in just two weeks. “Who cares who she likes?” Adrian muttered, pretending to brush it off as he looked away, though he couldn’t help stealing glances back in that direction. Suddenly, the boy wrapped an arm around Tammy and pulled her into his embrace. That did it. Adrian practically launched himself out of the car, storming over and yanking Tammy by the wrist. His voice shot up several octaves. “Tammy! What are you doing hugging some guy out in public like that? You’re a girl, have some self-respect!” Worried things might escalate, I quickly followed. When Tammy turned and saw it was Adrian, her eyes lit up with joy—but his scolding left her completely confused. “What do you mean hugging? Oh, him? He’s—” The guy didn’t say much; he simply smiled and slung his arm around Tammy’s shoulders. “You must be Adrian. Tammy talks about you all the time. You’re kind of famous around school.” “And I know who you are too, not a decent guy,” Adrian snapped, glaring at the boy’s hand on Tammy like it personally offended him. Tammy rolled her eyes. “Excuse me? What did you just say? Who are you calling ‘not a decent guy’?” “What? You upset because I called out your little boyfriend?” Adrian scoffed. “Just a few days ago, you were saying you liked me, talking about being my girlfriend. Now you’re out here all cuddly with someone else? You’re a real piece of work.” Tammy looked like she was about to cry, but then she paused, narrowed her eyes, and shot Adrian a look. “Who I’m with has nothing to do with you.”“Oh, really? Fine. You can be with whoever you want. But do you even know who this guy is? He’s a school-wide troublemaker and that’s who you’re choosing to date?” Adrian looked at both of them with disgust and spat on the ground. “I seriously can’t stand you.” And with that, he turned and marched straight into the school without looking back. I gave Tammy an apologetic nod, then walked away. But just as I got back to the car, I heard that boy mutter to Tammy, “See? That’s the guy you like? Arrogant. Rude. Doesn’t respect you at all. If you ask me, you should’ve dumped him a long time ago.” I paused, surprised, and slipped into the car, motioning for Aiden not to start it yet. From a distance, I watched the boy closely. After delivering his little speech, he playfully flipped his bangs with a smirk. So smug. “Hey, why’d you provoke him like that?” Tammy asked. “If I didn’t, how would you know he actually cares about you?” the boy replied. “Anyway, I’m heading back to class now. Tell my mom I wasn’t skipping school—I did go in.” With that, he turned and disappeared into the building. I noticed Tammy was still standing there, unmoving. Something tugged at my heart; I got out of the car and walked over. When she saw me, she blinked. “You’re still here?” I couldn’t help but laugh. “If I’d left, I wouldn’t have caught that delightfully awkward misunderstanding.” “You… heard all of it?” Tammy flushed and dropped her head. I gave her a playful wink. “Adrian’s got a bit of a temper, and his words don’t always come out the right way. If you really want to be with him, you’ll need to figure out how to soften those rough edges. It’ll take some effort.” Tammy let out a relieved breath and nodded. “Got it. But, Raelyn… there’s something I need your help with.” “What is it?” She hesitated. “Well… next Wednesday is my eighteenth birthday. I want to invite Adrian to my party. Could you… help me get him there?”“Why don’t you ask him yourself?” I asked. Tammy sighed. “I’ve already tried—multiple times. He won’t even talk to me, let alone show up to my party. Just help me find a way to get him there without him realizing, okay?” I thought about it for a moment… then agreed. After saying goodbye to Tammy, Aiden and I returned to Eclipse Corporation. As soon as we got back, Aiden called an executive meeting. During the meeting, he directly announced that I would be taking the position of Vice President. Yvonne was the first to object. In just a few days, she’d somehow grown even more sour and sharp-tongued. “Mr. Aiden, I don’t think this is appropriate,” she said, trying to sound concerned. “Raelyn has no experience as a vice president. She hasn’t even officially joined the company or taken on a real position. Promoting her out of nowhere like this, isn’t that a little unorthodox?” I’d already expected her to say something like this and couldn’t help but smile. “Ms. Yvonne, isn’t that a bit hypocritical? Didn’t you get promoted straight from a junior staffer to department head? Oh wait, that was pure luck, wasn’t it? Not exactly based on merit. So it makes sense that you’d be confused about how qualifications actually work.” Yvonne’s face darkened instantly at the jab. “Raelyn, don’t you think that’s a bit much? Are you saying I didn’t earn my position? I graduated from the best design school at Varken. Doesn’t that qualify me to be a design director?”
