Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming

Chapter 152 Yvonne Shut Down

The little girl who had been quietly eating just a moment ago suddenly threw a tantrum. She started crying and fussing, insisting that I feed her. “Stop being naughty and listen!” “Waaah…” She was obviously faking the tears. Trying not to laugh, I walked over. “Alright, I’ll feed you. Don’t cry.” Nora’s face changed instantly, lighting up with a smile. “Really?” “Really. Come on, be good and eat.” After I spoon-fed her a few bites, Nora suddenly picked up the bowl and gulped it all down. Her parents standing nearby looked completely stunned, like they’d just witnessed a miracle. “Okay, I finished! Raelyn, can you come play with me now?” I hesitated. “But I’ve got something to do later. How about next time I come back and play with you? I’m staying at the hospital, so I promise.” Nora looked a little disappointed at first, but then smiled again. “Okay! What room are you in? If I have time, I’ll come find you!” I told her Adam’s room number, then gathered my things to leave. Suddenly, someone knocked at the door. I opened it casually and was met with a familiar face. Yvonne? She looked a little stunned when she saw me, but quickly forced a smile. “Raelyn, long time no see. I heard you were kidnapped recently. I didn’t get the chance to visit—being promoted to design director has kept me super busy, you know how it is.” Only the first sentence sounded like a greeting. The rest? Pure provocation. I knew her personality well enough and couldn’t be bothered to argue. I smiled faintly, pulled the door open, and prepared to leave. Yvonne sneered behind me. “What are you doing here anyway? You’re not related to the Ginger family of the Imperial Pack. What are you sticking your nose in for?”I paused and turned back. “Oh? Then what are you doing here?” She clearly waited for me to ask. She lifted her chin proudly. “Our Starlight Pack and the Imperial Pack are cousins. My mother is Mr. Greg’s niece. Technically, Nora should call me cousin. So what do you think I’m doing here?” I laughed aloud. A distant cousin, and she was acting like royalty. I said coldly, “Anyone who didn’t know better would think you were Mr. Greg’s granddaughter, the way you’re bragging.” The man standing nearby frowned at her. “Yvonne, this is Nora’s lifesaver, not someone you can dismiss as meddling.” Yvonne was startled. “So the woman who saved Nora was Raelyn?” “That’s right. If it wasn’t me, was it you, the so-called distant cousin?” I said sharply. Her expression twisted, but knowing she couldn’t win against me, she turned to Nora with a fake smile. “Nora, how about I play with you?” “No thanks. I don’t want to play with you.” Nora clearly didn’t like her either. Her eyes stayed fixed on me. “Raelyn, promise you’ll come play with me next time. I won’t be in the hospital long.” I nodded and smiled at her. “I promise, Nora. Be good. See you next time.” Then I glanced at Yvonne’s frozen expression and that awkward, humiliated face of hers, raising my chin at her as I walked past. Trying to pick a fight with me? You’re way too green for that. I ignored Yvonne’s barely-contained fury and left straight for Adam’s room. “Raelyn, what took you so long? You’ve been gone for four hours. I called you over twenty times and you didn’t answer.” Adam looked like an abandoned puppy, sulking with a pout. “I saved a little girl on the way… then…” I patted my pocket and finally realized what happened. My phone was gone. “Guess it fell into the river. Oh well, I was planning to get a new one anyway.” Adam froze when he heard the word “river,” then immediately looked worried. “What river? Did you fall in? Are you okay?”I twitched my lips. “No, I didn’t fall in. Like I said, I saved a kid, and my phone accidentally ended up in the water.” “Don’t do anything that dangerous again.” I chuckled. “Got it. Oh right, I brought you new medicine. If you take it on time, your body will make a full recovery.” Adam muttered under his breath, “I don’t want to get better.” I flicked him on the forehead. “What nonsense are you spouting? That medicine is made with expensive ingredients. If you waste it, we’re done.” Holding his head, he winced. “Okay, okay, I get it.” “Oh, and if you’re not too busy the next few days, you should start learning how to be a proper manager. If you run into anything you don’t understand, you can ask me anytime.” Adam looked at me with anticipation. I nodded casually. This stuff was too easy. Managing someone? No one knows that job better than me, the CEO of an entertainment company. Before hiring anyone, I made sure to learn all the manager protocols myself. “Got it. It’s getting late today, so I’m heading home.” Adam didn’t want me to go but knew he couldn’t make me stay. He could only nod reluctantly.
