Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
Raelyn's POV Aiden brought me to the hospital. After a quick checkup and basic treatment, he laid me on the hospital bed. "Raelyn, are you okay?" I didn’t answer him. Right now, my mind was filled with worry for Adam. As an Alpha, even if I’d been drugged with wolfsbane-laced sedatives, my life wasn’t in danger. At most I’d be bedridden for a couple of days before recovering. But that dagger that stabbed Adam—there was a real chance it could cost that young werewolf his life. "Take me to Adam. Hurry." I sat up and urged him. "Why are you still worrying about Adam at a time like this?" Aiden sounded sour, clearly not understanding. Seeing him jealous at a time like this only made me angry. "That dagger was coated in wolfsbane. Take me to see him now!" "I already found the best doctor for Adam. Don’t worry, he’ll be fine. Right now, your job is to rest and heal. Let the others take care of everything else." Aiden furrowed his brows and tried to calm me down. I knew he was worried about me, but I couldn’t tell him that my constitution made me relatively safe. So I could only plead, "Then I won’t go now, but have someone keep an eye on him. If anything happens to Adam, you have to let me know right away." "Fine. Just rest for now." Aiden paused, then asked as if suddenly remembering something, "Why did Adam find out before I did?" I answered casually, "They didn’t take my phone when we were on the road. I sent out a message and my location in secret, so he showed up." I didn’t think anything was wrong with that, but Aiden’s expression darkened slightly after hearing it. "You ran into trouble and the first person you called was Adam?" His reaction made me want to laugh. "Everyone knows Mr. Salvatore is busy day and night. How would I have time to bother you? Don’t you have to go train your new recruits?" I didn’t mean to mock him, but seeing him jealous out of nowhere made it hard to resist a little jab.Still, I was just talking. Honestly, I had thought the message would go to Aiden. But clearly Aiden had misunderstood. His face turned cold. "I told you, there’s nothing going on between me and Yvonne. We’re just a normal superior and subordinate." "Normal? Normal superiors and subordinates hug each other?" I scoffed. I wasn’t blind. Yvonne threw herself into your arms, and you didn’t push her away. If that wasn’t emotional involvement, what was? "You saw that?" Aiden hadn’t expected I’d seen the scene and froze for a second. "So what? I saw Mr. Aiden holding Ms. Yvonne. You sure looked like you were enjoying it. You don’t need to explain anything to me. There’s nothing between us anyway. Even if you really like her, what does that have to do with me?" My sharp retort left Aiden speechless. He just stared at me, his eyes filled with an emotion I couldn’t quite describe. "Whatever. I’ve got things to do. I’m leaving." He dropped that line and walked out of the hospital room. I rolled my eyes at his retreating back. Aiden's POV Fuming, I walked to the outside of Adam’s operating room. I didn’t know how else to explain it. What Raelyn saw wasn’t the full story. I was pushing Yvonne away. She just happened to catch that one moment. No matter what I said now, it just made things worse. Adam was still in surgery. He’d been stabbed with a wolfsbane-coated dagger, and the toxin had already spread into his system. Even though he was a high-ranking werewolf, he was young. I could only hope he pulled through. He was my real brother. We’d always been close. Seeing him like this didn’t sit well with me. Especially because he was hurt saving Raelyn. The lights in the operating room were still on when a doctor stepped out. "The patient’s condition is very serious. He’s in hypovolemic shock, and we suspect the wolfsbane poison has spread throughout his system. We may need to… sign a critical condition notice." His words hit me like a punch to the gut. Rage surged through me. "I don’t care what you have to do. You must save Adam. Say the words ‘critical condition’ in front of me again, and I’ll exile you from Varken Prison and turn you rogue." The doctor trembled under my glare, bowing quickly. "Y-yes sir, we’ll do our best." He hurried back into the operating room in a panic. I stared at the glowing "In Surgery" sign and, after a moment of silent thought, called Raelyn. "Adam’s condition is critical. The doctor said he’s in shock, and the poison might have spread throughout his body. He might…" Not long after I hung up, Raelyn rushed over. "Aiden, did the doctor come out already?" she asked anxiously the moment she saw me. I shook my head. She was about to ask again when the door opened. The same doctor stepped out, looking even more nervous. "It’s not that I don’t want to save him—we’ve tried everything. But this is just too serious. The wolfsbane poison is too aggressive. The bleeding won’t stop!" He spoke through chattering teeth, his whole body shaking like a leaf in the wind. I frowned, about to say something, when Raelyn suddenly stepped forward and said firmly, "I’ll operate on him myself."
