Alpha Raelyn: The Alpha They Never Saw Coming
The others in the villa came running at the sound of the scream. They saw Madam Regina sprawled on the first floor, blood pouring from her head, and everyone instantly panicked. I rushed down the stairs. Andrix, who had some medical knowledge, was already kneeling beside her, quickly checking her condition. His brow furrowed. “She hit her head and has multiple fractures. Call an ambulance, now!” My heart clenched. No wonder Madam Regina hadn’t had time to shift—she must’ve hit her head hard. She wasn’t young anymore. Even for a high-ranking werewolf, falling down a staircase like that and hitting her head could be extremely dangerous. Aiden pulled out his phone and made the call. After briefly explaining the situation, he looked up at me and Taylor. “What happened?” I was about to answer when Taylor jumped in first. “Aiden, it’s all my fault. Madam Regina only got hurt because I upset Raelyn. It’s all on me!” Tears spilled down her cheeks. “Madam Regina was so pitiful. Aiden, you can’t let the one responsible get away with it. She wouldn’t rest easy!” I let out a quiet sigh. It didn’t surprise me one bit that Taylor would say something like this. I shot her a cold glare. “You did this on purpose to frame me, didn’t you?” Taylor flinched and shrank behind Aiden. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to! Please don’t glare at me like that…” I scoffed. “Taylor, you’re the one who pushed me from behind. That’s why I couldn’t hold on to Madam Regina. And now you’re pretending?” Tears streamed down her face. “Raelyn, Madam Regina practically raised me. I’d rather get hurt myself than ever harm her. But you—your connection to her runs far deeper. If anything, wouldn’t you have more motive than I do?” Aiden frowned, glancing between us. “Aiden, do you suspect me too?” The flicker of doubt in his eyes sparked something in me. My anger flared.“Raelyn, I haven’t said anything yet. Why are you so defensive? Unless you have something to hide?” Taylor said, piling it on. “I didn’t mean it like that,” Aiden said after a pause. His tone had turned serious. “But my mom is lying there hurt. I don’t know who to believe right now.” A wave of bitterness hit me. I couldn’t believe it. Yesterday he was boldly vowing to marry me. Today, he already doubted me. “Fine. If you don’t believe me, then I’ll take the blame. Let’s say it was an accident caused by me.” I said it coldly. My blunt response left Aiden flustered. He stared at me in shock. “Raelyn, you know that’s not what I meant.” I drew a long breath. “Then what did you mean? You’re standing right there, and your eyes are full of doubt. You think I can’t see it?” His gaze flickered away. And my heart ached. “So don’t go making promises so easily next time, Aiden.” I closed my eyes and let out a bitter laugh. “It’s funny.” Funny enough to bring me to tears. “I’ll go, alright?” Taylor looked at me, her tone laced with fake concern. “No need to rush off. This might involve criminal charges. It’s not just about blame—you could be facing prison time.” Aiden clenched his fists, his eyes darkening. “Taylor, that’s enough.” “Why can’t I say it? Aiden, you know she’s the reason your mom got hurt. And you’re still defending her? Isn’t that your real mother lying there?” “I’ll handle this myself. Stay out of it.” “Aiden! Then have her prove it! If she can prove she’s innocent, I’ll apologize. But if not, I’ll never forgive her for what she did to Madam Regina!” Taylor’s righteous act was so flawless, I almost wanted to applaud. “Raelyn,” Aiden turned to me, a pleading look in his eyes.Of course I knew what he meant. He wanted me to produce evidence—to prove my innocence. He knew I was smart. I’d gotten out of so many tight spots before. He thought I’d have a way out of this one too. But this time, I didn’t. Madam Regina had fallen down the stairs and suffered serious injuries. In terms of both motive and appearances, everything pointed to me. And most importantly—Midnight Pack’s grand villa had no surveillance cameras. “I’m sorry, Aiden. I don’t have any evidence.” I sighed and shook my head. Aiden’s eyes immediately dimmed.
