From Betrayal to Brilliance: She Rose Stronger Than Ever

Chapter 362 The Invitation

Beverly sat calmly across from Athena, her tone even as she said, "I need to see a doctor." Athena quickly regained her composure. Putting aside who the woman was, she asked in a professional tone, "What seems to be the problem?" "My heart," Beverly replied without hesitation. "Have you had any tests done before? If you have the reports, could you show them to me? It would help me understand your condition better," Athena said. On the surface, Athena looked perfectly calm and professional, but inside she was irritated. Why had Beverly suddenly come to her? Athena remembered well that Beverly never liked her and had always tried to push Zaden toward other women. After everything that had happened with Teri, Zaden and Beverly hadn't spoken since. Thinking of how Beverly had treated Teri, Athena's expression turned colder. Even if Beverly was Teri's grandmother, what she'd done was unforgivable. That incident had traumatized Teri so badly she stopped talking altogether. She only started to recover after Athena took her to a summer camp in Brookdale and encouraged her to make friends. Of course, Beverly wasn't really there for a medical consultation, so she hadn't brought any reports. "I've had tests before," she said, frowning, "but I forgot to bring the results." Standing behind her, Daisy nearly panicked. How was Beverly supposed to make peace with Athena if she kept acting so stiff and cold? She should have been friendly, using this appointment to ease the tension and gradually mend things between them. With Athena's help, maybe she could even fix her relationship with Zaden. Daisy gave Beverly a discreet nudge, reminding her to soften up. Beverly cleared her throat, finally remembering she wasn't here to argue. Her tone eased a little. "I had my tests done at this hospital. You should be able to find them in the system." "Alright, just a moment," Athena said. She turned to the computer and quickly found Beverly's medical record. After reading through it carefully, she realized Beverly did have some heart issues, though nothing too severe. Still, the best option would be surgery. After a moment of thought, Athena said, "You'll need surgery for this condition." Beverly's brows furrowed. Surgery? From Athena? No way. She couldn't accept that, and a small part of her even worried she might die on Athena's table. "I don't want surgery," Beverly said coldly. "Isn't there a less aggressive treatment?" "There is, but it only manages the symptoms. It won't fix the root problem," Athena replied. Beverly waved it off right away. "Then just go with the conservative treatment. No surgery." Athena respected her decision. If the patient didn't want surgery, she wouldn't force her. "These results are from over a year ago," Athena said. "We don't know your current condition, so you'll need a full checkup. But it's getting late, and our shift ends soon. Why don't you come back tomorrow?" Beverly nodded."That's all for now," Athena said, glancing up. "You can leave and come back tomorrow for the tests." But Beverly stayed seated. "Tonight, you're coming to the Storm Estate." "What?" Athena blinked, confused. Why was Beverly suddenly inviting her over? Daisy quickly stepped in with a bright smile. "Ms. Hall, what Mrs. Storm means is that you've helped her a lot with her treatment, so she'd like to thank you by inviting you to dinner tonight at our home." Athena stared in disbelief. She actually wondered if Beverly had lost her mind. She hadn't done anything to help just now. All she did was ask a few routine questions about her condition, without even running any tests. Still, Beverly's sudden visit already seemed strange, so this dinner invitation wasn't that surprising. There had to be another reason behind it. Before Athena could respond, Daisy added quickly, "Then it's settled. We'll be expecting you tonight." She hurried Beverly out of the office before Athena could change her mind. Athena wanted to refuse, but they were already gone before she had the chance. Sitting there, she felt a headache coming on. After a moment's thought, she decided to go anyway, just to see what Beverly was really planning this time. She'd learned her lesson from being set up once before.
