From Betrayal to Brilliance: She Rose Stronger Than Ever

Chapter 361 The Visit

"Mrs. Storm, are you thinking about Mr. Zaden?" Daisy asked softly from behind. She had been with Beverly the longest and knew her best. She could tell right away that Beverly was missing Zaden again. Beverly nodded and sighed. "Yes. He's probably still blaming me—blaming me for what happened to Teri. But I did it for his own good." After a moment, she added, "Honestly, keeping Athena around wouldn't bother me, as long as Zaden listens to me. If he divorces Athena and marries a proper rich heiress, I can accept that child's presence." Hearing this, Daisy quietly sighed to herself. Beverly was just too stubborn. Things between her and Zaden were so tense that he almost never came home anymore, yet she still couldn't let go of her pride. If she would just meet him halfway, maybe there was still hope to repair their relationship. Daisy kept her thoughts to herself. Beverly had a strong temper—if she said anything that displeased her, it might end badly. Suddenly, Daisy remembered something. "By the way, Mrs. Storm, there's something you should know. Mr. Peyton—" Beverly immediately forgot about Zaden and turned to her with sharp eyes. "He's back?" "Yes," Daisy nodded. "He's moved back into the Storm Estate." "Did he came back alone?" "Not exactly. From what I heard, he brought that mistress with him. If he stays here in Vlephia, he might try to take over the Storm family business. With how strained things are between you and Mr. Zaden, maybe you should focus on reconciling with him first."Beverly's face tensed, her brows drawn tight. Daisy was right. This wasn't the time to dwell on old grudges. She needed to make peace with Zaden and stand with him against that illegitimate son. She couldn't let the Storm fortune fall into someone else's hands. If Peyton brought the illegitimate son back to live in the Storm estate, he must be counting on Drake's support. Thinking of that, Beverly asked, "How's Zaden doing lately?" Daisy looked uneasy. "I heard Ms. Teri got hurt at school not long ago. Since you never liked her, I didn't mention it. Otherwise, you could've used that as a chance to visit her and reconnect with Mr. Zaden." Beverly's expression darkened. She hadn't realized she'd missed such a perfect opportunity. Now she really had no excuse to go see them. And even if she did, she couldn't bring herself to swallow her pride and show up in front of Zaden. Everything was stuck, going nowhere. "Oh, right." Daisy suddenly remembered something else. "Athena is working at the Storms' hospital now. Maybe you could pretend to be sick and go see her. It would give you a reason to visit, and you could slowly rebuild the connection." "Athena?" Beverly's eyes widened. "She got that position on her own? Or did Zaden pull some strings for her?" In recent weeks, Beverly's health had worsened after constant fighting with Zaden. She'd shut herself off from outside news and hadn't even heard about the conflict between Athena and Maya. Daisy knew more than she let on but often kept unpleasant news from her. She said softly, "Mrs. Storm, Athena joined through her own ability. I heard she ranked first in the entrance assessment, and everyone at the hospital speaks highly of her."Beverly looked doubtful. She didn't quite believe Daisy—or maybe she just didn't believe in Athena. Still, she didn't have many options left. Zaden listened to Athena more than anyone. Maybe she could convince him to stop being so cold toward his mother. Even if Beverly disliked Athena, she could tolerate her for now. After all, what she truly hated was Peyton's illegitimate son. She feared he would take everything that belonged to her, so her dislike for Athena didn't seem as important anymore. "Go to the hospital and book an appointment with Athena for me," Beverly said. "Yes, Beverly. I'll do it right away," Daisy replied and hurried out. Once Daisy left, Beverly let out a long sigh. She had never shared any real love with Peyton. He had never cared for her. The only thing she could hold onto was the family business and she wasn't about to give that up to anyone. At the hospital, Athena was seeing patients when a familiar figure suddenly entered the room. She froze in surprise. Zaden's mother, Beverly? What was she doing here?
