The Rise of the Rejected Luna
Lyra walked into the house and found Jagger there in the living room, having some apples. He had a knife with which he cut out the apple before taking it into his mouth. He seemed so happy, while she was there, mourning. "Lyra." He called, his mouth full with a chunk of apple. "You didn't tell me you were coming." Lyra's eyes were sore and swollen. She fixed her gaze on him as she dropped her bag on the parting table in the room. "How do you do it?" She asked in a low tone. "How do you manage to stay so happy when our biggest plan crashed a week ago? You didn't even bother to comfort me, neither did you seem worried that we had lost a lot of money. You didn't even try to come up with an alternative or something. It's so unlike...you." Jagger scoffed. He sliced out a piece of apple and threw it into his mouth before looking at her."Did you say an alternative? What was I supposed to do? Point a gun at the Kensingtons and threaten them to transfer their wealth to me? You really think that would work?" The sarcasm in his voice killed Lyra. How dare he even make a mockery out of the situation? She took two steps towards him. "This isn't the you I know. Why are your being so nonchalant about this?" Jagger's lips curled into a smile. "And why are you being so desperate? Are you there to run away to Germany with all the money we were supposed to share?" Right there, Lyra's heart left her chest. Her eyes dilated in shock, and her fingers became numb. She looked at him with so much terror, like her heart had been ripped out of her chest. Jagger laughed at the shock on her face. "Are you startled?" He taunted. "You're so shocked that I know about it? About your plans of betraying your brother and I and running off with the money? I knew all about it, Lyra, including the fact that your visa was already available." A big lump covered Lyra's throat, she struggled to breath. "You treacherous bitch!" Jagger stood up. Now, his eyes were glinting. "I worked so hard for this. It was my idea from the onset! Yet you thought of betraying me? Of betraying this family?" Lyra lifted her teary gaze to meet his. For a moment there, contrition settled in her heart. She had no idea he'd discovered her plans. How did he even find out? "Did you say family,?" She scoffed. Yes, she felt guilty. But she was still offended by his words. "When were we ever a family? Growing up, I barely even knew you. You abandoned me and mum and left us to suffer! But when you finally had use for me, wanted me to marry an old man, you sought after me and used me! You never saw me as a daughter, but as a business object! You were never a father to me!"Jagger's hands curled into fists. His eyes sparked, and it took him a lot of self control not to lay his hands on her. "You ungrateful brat!" He scrowled. "I picked you from the wretched life you lived, gave you a purpose, and this is all you can say to me? How dare you?!" Going closer to her, her grabbed her cheek and dug his fingers into it, making it hurt. "I should've known better. You're just like your shitty whore of a mother who would betray anyone for personal interests." Lyra got so angry, she forcefully pushed his hand away from her cheeks. "Don't you dare speak about mum. She was a better parent than you were to be honest, I don't even think you deserved her." Jagger chuckled and took some steps back. Dipping his hands in his trouser pockets, he gave her a scrutinizing look. "I have no regrets, Lyra, of what I did to you. I really have no regrets. Though, it hurts to see our last mission failed, I'm glad I was still able to ruin it for you. At least, we both lost." Lyra's eyes shimmered with a blend of shock and rage. She looked at her father like he he had just mentioned the most forbidden thing in her life. "What did you do?" She asked, her tone a little shaky. Jagger laughed, seemingly finding pleasure in her pain. "What do you think? Why do you think Thatcher was killed a day to the will signing? It's because I was behind it, love. I had Bellamy do it for me. She killed him, just the same way I killed your dreams." He added a haunting laughter. A sharp pain stung at Lyra's heart immediately, she had to place her hand on her chest. No, she didn't want it to be true. Her father couldn't be the killer. A tear dropped to her cheek as rage and betrayal shimmered in her eyes. "It...It... it was you?" He voice was barely audible. "You did this to me?" Jagger shrugged. "Seeing the pain in your eyes, I'd say it was fun. You don't get to bite the finger that fed you, brat. This should serve as a lesson that a father has so many ways to discipline a stray child." Taking the half apple on his tray, he laughed as he turned around and started towards the stairs. Lyra's entire world came crumbling. More tears coursed her cheeks and blinded her vision. He ruined her life, her plans and everything she worked so hard for. He was the cause of her predicament. Her gaze shifted to the knife on the tray. She looked back at him and found him chuckling as he walked, taking a bite from his apple. She didn't think twice. Her emotions had the upper hand, not her reasoning. Deftly, she picked up the knife and ran towards him with a speed that would've been difficult to foresee. Without thinking twice, she drove the knife right into his head, giving him an irrecoverable stab.
