Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog
Tiffany clutched her aching head. "Braxton, why can't I remember anything?!" Braxton, thrilled, hurried over to help her up. "If you can't remember, don't worry about it. You hurt your head, and I just finished patching you up." "My head was hurt?" Tiffany looked at him in surprise. Braxton nodded. "You got shocked by Natalie's door and hit the back of your head when you fell. That's what made you lose your mind." "Lost my mind?" Tiffany's mouth dropped open in disbelief. "That's right." Braxton put on a pained expression. "A lot has happened lately. It's too much to explain all at once ..." "But," his eyes lit up, "now everything's finally turning around!"He dragged Tiffany over to the window. "Look!" She followed his gaze outside and saw crowds of people celebrating. The floodwater that had troubled them for so long was completely gone! Her eyes widened. "The flood is over?!" In Tiffany's memory, she'd just been starving, tormented by that creep Edric for supplies and tranquilizers, and now—just like that—the apocalypse was finished? She stood there, stunned, feeling like it was all a dream. But the pain all over her body reminded her that it was real. Tiffany looked at Braxton, confused. "Braxton, why am I so banged up? What's happened lately?" Braxton's face grew awkward. He thought for a moment before answering. "It was Natalie. Natalie beat you up!"Tiffany's anger flared. "Natalie again!" Braxton saw her grinding her teeth and worried she'd storm up to the 14th floor to stir up trouble, dragging him along for the misery, so he quickly tried to calm her down. "Tiffany, don't do anything rash. We're no match for Natalie. Even after using that strong tranquilizer last time, we didn't get anything out of it—she just wiped the floor with us." Thinking about everything they'd been through, Braxton shivered. "So just leave her alone for now. The apocalypse is over. When things get back to normal, we'll go straight to the cops! "She's killed so many people, and all the neighbors saw it. She'll end up behind bars for life!" Tiffany nodded in agreement. Just imagining Natalie getting dragged off in shame made Tiffany laugh out loud with satisfaction. That bitch! I'll make sure to visit her in prison and rub it in her face! Unit 1302, Owen's place, they were also watching the flood situation. Elena looked out the window at the cheering crowds, clutching Owen's sleeve nervously. "Owen, what do we do now that the apocalypse is over?" Owen was smiling as he looked outside, already plotting how he'd claim his wife's inheritance once society was back to normal. He turned to Elena, confused. "The apocalypse ending is good news. Why do you look like it's the end of the world?" Elena glared at him. "I mean, once things go back to normal, what about your wife? And Daniel?" Owen shrugged, unconcerned. "What about my wife? She disappeared looking for supplies, didn't she? "As for Daniel ... " He grinned slyly. "The only witness when I took care of him was Henry. And Henry starved to death a while ago." Elena whispered, "But that leaves ... Daniel's wife, Olivia?" At the mention of her, Owen's face soured. "Olivia doesn't have any proof, and she wasn't a witness, but ... " Thinking about how relentless she was, he added, "She's Daniel's family, and she's definitely a handful." Elena pouted. "Exactly! I thought she'd gathered all those supplies so someone else would do the dirty work, but then she moved to the 14th floor. Her friend Natalie is tough." "Natalie?" Owen snorted dismissively. "That was then, this is now! The apocalypse is over. She can't just keep breaking the law forever! "Natalie isn't like me—when she killed, all the neighbors saw it." Owen smirked. "I'll stir up some trouble for Natalie first, get her too busy to fight back, then we'll take care of Olivia." Elena giggled, pushing his chest. "You always know what to do." The next day, Natalie didn't go out as usual, staying home to practice her moves. Ever since she got Roderick's emerald thumb ring, her teleportation range had increased to four inches. After two weeks of training, Natalie was now really skilled at using her "cheat." Facing Lucky, she spoke in a low voice. "Come at me, brave one!" Lucky growled fiercely, then sprang at her with lightning speed. Just as she was about to make contact, Natalie smiled and vanished into thin air. Lucky missed completely and crashed onto the floor. A second later, she felt a cold chill at the back of her neck—a weapon pressed against him.
