Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog
In less than a minute, Rosalie could hardly believe her eyes as her two bodyguards were taken down. Meanwhile, Natalie stood there calmly, not even bothering to move. Shaking, Rosalie screamed, "Natalie! How could you hurt them?! You're breaking the law! I'll have you all arrested!" Natalie stared at Rosalie like she'd just heard the funniest thing. "Oh, really? Then go ahead and arrest me." Rosalie shrank back in fear. "You're picking on me! I'm telling Daddy!" Olivia gave Rosalie a sharp glare and whispered to Natalie, "Want me to kill her?" Rosalie turned pale. "What did you just say?! I heard that! You're so vicious! I'm her half-sister!" Natalie didn't acknowledge that so-called sister, but she wasn't the kind to kill people on a whim.Instead, she walked over, grabbed Rosalie's collar, and slapped her twice. "Since you're spending my money, show some respect when you talk to me. That's the rule." Then, she leaned closer and whispered, "But don't get comfortable. You won't enjoy that money for long. You won't need it soon." Natalie was thinking about the coming disaster. When wealth turned to nothing, Rosalie wouldn't get to enjoy it. But Rosalie was convinced Natalie was about to kill her. She was so terrified that she peed herself. Natalie saw that and scoffed. "Go home and tell your dad. I'm letting you live today because he raised me for 20 years. From now on, you go your way, and I go mine. I'll always look down on him." Rosalie tripped as Natalie let go, collapsing onto her boat. She froze for a moment, then scrambled to get the boat moving. She didn't even look at her two bodyguards, who were knocked out and floating in the water. Crocodiles were nearby. There was no way she was jumping in. Besides, they might have already drowned. Natalie watched Rosalie flee in panic and called after her tauntingly, "You're all dressed up and wandering out here—hope you don't get eaten!" Rosalie was fuming but too scared to fight back. She knew the world outside was rough—robbers and creeps lurking everywhere. If she hadn't been stuck at home with nothing to do and hadn't brought two bodyguards, she'd never have dared to go out for a walk. Shaking, she started the inflatable rescue boat and sped off, crying. She didn't look anything like the arrogant, confident girl who had shown up earlier. Roderick watched Rosalie speed away and felt a rush of satisfaction. The enemy of his enemy was his friend. Grinning, he handed the last of his veggies to Natalie and her friends. "Pretty lady, you're Natalie, right? I knew from the start you were special. You're indeed amazing! "Nice to meet you. I'm Roderick Norman. I'll bring the fertilizer to you at the same time tomorrow." Natalie took the veggies with a nod. But then, she spotted the emerald ring on his thumb. She stared for a moment. "That's emerald, isn't it?" Roderick nodded. "Yep." Her eyes brightened. "Are you selling it?" He was caught off guard. Trading food for jewelry wasn't something he expected. Looks like even if this girl has fallen on hard times, she's still got some real strength! But he shook his head. "It's not for sale. My boss gave it to me when I finished my first task. It means a lot." Natalie held up two fingers. "I'll trade 20 pounds of crocodile meat for it." Roderick shook his head. She added another finger. "Thirty pounds." He still shook his head. Natalie frowned. The last bracelet she'd bought was way fancier, and it only cost her four pounds of crocodile meat. Roderick was earning big from selling vegetables and had no interest in a few scraps of crocodile meat. If not, she wouldn't even offer that much. "Fifty pounds!" That was her final offer. Offering more would attract too much attention. Roderick still shook his head. "Sorry, Ms. Ashford. I've got to head home. This ring isn't for sale. If my boss finds out, I'd be in trouble." Natalie had to let it go. He probably hadn't gone hungry, and a ring couldn't be eaten anyway. Anyone else would've traded it already. But she wasn't discouraged. Emerald wouldn't rot or burn. She'd get it eventually. After two trips to the market, she'd already scored an emerald bracelet and some fertilizer. It was a total win. Plus, all the crocodile meat she traded came from Harold and Olivia—she just provided the boat. Once they set the trade for tomorrow, Natalie and her group started up the inflatable rescue boat and headed home. They had even more supplies than yesterday. Harold's pile of scrap metal alone took up a ton of space. On the way back, Olivia asked, "Nobody tried to rob us today?" Natalie laughed. "Getting hooked on robbing the robbers now?"Olivia blushed. "No, not really." No one wanted to be an easy target.
