Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 670 Married Into Money

After thinking about the Overlord and the Bugatti she had just stored away, Natalie couldn't help asking Cassian, "You've got so many cool things in Olissea. Why do you only have the Knight XV and a helicopter in Northlorn?" Logically, his main place should have had even more good stuff. Cassian said, "Northlorn isn't near the ocean, so there's no yacht." He paused, then added, "But there are more cars there. Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Bentley, Maybach, Lamborghini... too many to list. They're all parked in my private underground garage." Underground garage? Natalie suddenly understood why she had never seen his other supercars. She clutched her chest in pain. "They all got flooded during the disaster, didn't they?" Cassian nodded. Not every car was as lucky as the Knight XV and the Hummer. One had been parked on a rooftop. The other just happened to be at the hillside villas. Even so, he hadn't kept either of them. One had been "stolen" and taken away by his wife. The other had been destroyed during the earthquake. Natalie looked around and asked in confusion, "This place is underground too. Why didn't it get flooded?" All the food and daily supplies in the warehouse looked brand new. There were no signs of water damage at all. The cars and the yacht were also in perfect condition, with barely any dust on them. She asked in surprise. "Didn't Olissea have a flood?" "It did rain heavily here too," Cassian said. "Before the internet and signal went down, there were news reports online." Natalie remembered it now. She had seen posts about the storms on Instagram. "Then how did all this survive?"Cassian explained, "This place is very close to the sea. When this underground warehouse was built, the waterproofing was top-level. It used materials made for underwater structures." He continued, "The parking garage in Northlorn was just a normal building. It had waterproofing too, but it couldn't stand a mega flood that covered seven floors." Natalie nodded. Then something hit her. "That G-Class..." It hadn't been stored in the warehouse. Cassian realized it too and frowned. "It was probably flooded. Take it out and dump it. Flooded cars aren't safe." Natalie quickly pulled the G-Class out of her storage space and checked it carefully. There were watermarks on the seats and floor mats. Some metal parts under the car and inside the engine bay were rusted. It was clearly a flooded vehicle. She frowned. "No wonder it was so dirty. I thought it was just from sitting too long. Turns out it soaked in dirty water. I didn't look closely earlier." A flooded car was a safety risk. No matter how nice it was, it couldn't be kept. She decisively left it there and didn't store it again. Thankfully, she already had the Knight XV, the Paramount Overlord, the Bugatti Firebolt, and a luxury yacht. Losing one G-Class was something she could live with. Natalie gave the lonely black car one last look and turned to leave. Then she noticed another button on the wall. She twitched her lips. "There's nothing else behind this wall, right?" Cassian laughed. "Not this time. That's the passage used to move the yacht." Natalie nodded. "Alright. Let's go." She didn't care how the yacht had been brought in. All she knew was that the luxury yacht was hers now.As they walked back the way they came, she muttered softly, "I really did marry into money." Cassian couldn't help laughing. "All the stuff is with you now. From now on, I'm the one depending on you." "That's true." Natalie waved her hand generously. "Don't worry. I'll treat you well." Laughing and teasing each other, the two of them left the villa with the pets. Because installing and removing the snow tracks took time, Natalie gave up on test-driving the new car. She drove the Knight XV with the tracks still on and headed straight for the ocean. The coast was very close. In just three to five minutes, they arrived. It was a small cliff overlooking the shoreline. It wasn't very high—about 30 feet—but for safety, a guardrail had been built along the edge. Unless someone climbed over on purpose, there was no risk of falling into the sea. Natalie and Cassian parked the car to the side and got out with Lucky, Cash, and Baron. They let the three of them run around freely. The grass under their feet was completely covered in snow. Thick icicles hung from the guardrail in front of them. The ocean was different from lakes or rivers. No matter how cold it got, it never froze solid. It still moved like a playful child, sending waves rolling in and crashing toward the shore. Looking out, the sea stretched endlessly. It ran from right below their feet all the way to the horizon. Looking down, there was a wide field of jagged rocks. The waves slammed into them again and again, making deep, booming sounds. The sky was overcast, and the wind was strong. Gales roared. Huge waves crashed against the shore. The scene was breathtaking and terrifying. Lucky, Cash, and Baron had never seen anything like this before. They froze in place, staring ahead in silence.
