Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 603 Following the Supply Chain

The innkeeper gave a nervous laugh. "Heroine, how about you put the gun down first, and I'll explain everything slowly." Natalie frowned. "Cut the crap!" She made a motion as if to pull the trigger. The innkeeper immediately shouted, "Wait, wait, wait! I'll talk! I'll tell you everything!" The Greendale Gang was a faction formed in the later stages of the Great Heat. They'd recruited almost all the able-bodied young people in Greendale with any real strength. Well-known and powerful throughout the area, they monopolized all the survival resources in the entire Greendale. Ordinary survivors who wanted to live in Greendale had no choice but to rely on the Greendale Gang. Unlike most gangs, they didn't have a fixed base. Instead, they were divided into three branches, with each branch controlling its own territory independently. But these three branches were surprisingly harmonious and united. The innkeeper spoke enthusiastically. "You folks aren't from around here, so you probably don't know. We used to have a lot of outsiders in Greendale, but the locals drove them all away. "Those outsiders somehow banded together at some point and came back to Greendale trying to fight for resources. Man, there were hundreds of them! The pretty boy leading them even had a gun. Looked pretty tough! "They targeted the weakest of the Greendale Gang's three branches, thinking that since they had fewer people and were located more toward the outskirts, they'd be easier to bully. "But they didn't expect the Greendale Gang to be so united. The other two branches rushed over to support them right away. When they fought, they fought like they had nothing to lose! They drove those outsiders away in no time! After that, those punks never dared to come back and cause trouble."Natalie knew he was talking about Cash and his group. Earlier, she'd thought Cash and the pockmarked man had their foreign group stationed on the mountain just because they wanted to guard the warehouse supplies. Turned out they'd actually tried to come into the city to live. Come to think of it, with the apocalypse being so unpredictable, it really wasn't suitable for long-term outdoor survival on a mountain. She interrupted the innkeeper. "Didn't you say the outsiders had a gun? How did they still lose?" The innkeeper looked meaningfully at the gun in her hand. "The Greendale Gang is full of capable people. Having a gun doesn't mean you can just do whatever you want and get away with it." Natalie looked at him coldly. "Are you trying to make a point about me?" The innkeeper immediately hunched over. "I wouldn't dare! I'm just talking about the Greendale Gang!" Natalie snorted coldly. "Continue." The innkeeper cleared his throat. "Anyway, it's that kind of powerful gang. None of us locals dare to mess with them. Whatever we need in daily life, we have to buy from them." Natalie raised an eyebrow. "They sell goods?" The innkeeper nodded. "They set all the prices, and you can only buy through their channels. If you're caught making private transactions, the consequences are severe." Natalie nodded thoughtfully. This Greendale Gang was different from any gang she'd known before. Most gangs only managed their own internal affairs and either stayed uninvolved with outsiders or robbed and plundered.A gang that controlled everything was basically an authoritarian regime. She glanced at the stewed meat on the table. "You bought this meat from the Greendale Gang?" The innkeeper nodded. "Yes." Natalie asked, "Where exactly?" The innkeeper replied, "Not far. It's just three to five minutes away. But with the blizzard outside right now, it's impossible to walk. It took me nearly an hour just to bring the meat back." As he spoke, he glared at Guinevere and Selina. "And then these two little brats went and ruined it all." Natalie smacked him on the head with her gun. "Are you serious? You fed them her boyfriend, and you're blaming them for ruining your meal?" The innkeeper got smacked and covered his head, his arrogance deflating a bit. "How was I supposed to know it was... Anyway, I paid good money for it! I'm the victim here!" Then he tried to drag Natalie into it. "It's all because you said your boyfriend likes braised pork. My wife has a kind heart. She felt bad that you didn't get to enjoy the room and board benefits, so she specifically made me go buy it to cook for you." Natalie rolled her eyes at him. "Want me to bow down and worship you?" He had ulterior motives but was acting like he was some saint. The innkeeper chuckled awkwardly. "No need for that." Natalie looked at his sleazy, grinning face with some disgust and stepped back a bit before continuing her questions. "What's the background of the Greendale Gang's boss?" The innkeeper and his wife exchanged glances. The innkeeper's wife, who hadn't spoken until now, said, "We don't know either. He's very mysterious and has never appeared in public. The three branch leaders are the ones who always handle external affairs." Natalie stared at the couple. "From your tone, it sounds like you know quite a bit about this Greendale Gang and have faith in them?" The innkeeper's wife froze for a moment, then gave a stiff laugh. "How could that be..." Natalie observed their expressions. "Do you think this meat is Anthony?" The innkeeper's wife bristled at her interrogating tone. "Like I said, whether or not this meat is Anthony, it has nothing to do with us."
