Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog
He looked completely lost, like he'd just lost the woman he loved. Before anyone could say more, Iris glanced nervously behind her. "How did you get in? Where are the Grayhound Sect people? We should leave now. If they come back, we'll be in trouble." Bruno ground his teeth. "Where are the Grayhound Sect people? I'm going to kill them!" Natalie replied calmly, "They're all dead." Bruno didn't expect that. He froze. "All ... dead?" Iris stared in shock. "No way ... You killed them?" Natalie nodded. "There's no one from the Grayhound Sect left in this building. The ones who invaded Hillside Villa District have been taken care of too." Iris couldn't believe it. "So many people ... How did you do it?!" In this apocalypse, you don't hide your strength. Natalie pointed to Cassian's rifle. "We've got some power." Iris felt like it was unreal. A huge, organized sect like that ... wiped out by Natalie in less than a day? When she made sure she wasn't dreaming, she stomped her foot in excitement. A huge wave of relief hit her. Someone had gotten revenge for her! She had thought her mom's death would go unpunished. Revenge was a pipe dream; just escaping this hellhole seemed impossible. But now, she was free, and the monsters who killed her mom were all dead! Iris let out a relieved breath and patted her chest. "They got what they deserved. Thank you! Thank you so much!"Serves them right!" Nearby, Bruno looked frozen. "All dead ... " He had built up so much anger and was planning to rush out and beat those jerks into a pulp. But they were all dead? The fighting spirit drained right out of him. He slumped like a deflated balloon, muttering, "They're all dead? All of them ... " So what am I supposed to do now? Where should I go? What should I do? Seeing him so lost, Natalie said, "It's still safe outside for now. You can go find Ms. Jensen. Give her a proper burial." Bruno's head snapped up. "You're right! I need to find Whitney!" He bolted off without looking back. Iris also said goodbye to Natalie and Cassian. "I need to find my dad! When I get back to Hillside Villa District, I'll thank you properly." Natalie waved her off. "Don't worry about it. Just go." Iris thanked Natalie and Cassian seriously, and even Lucky, before running off. The hallway was quiet again. Just them and Lucky. Natalie smiled and said to Cassian, "You know, helping people like this ... actually feels pretty good." Cassian chuckled. "Oh? Planning to become a wandering hero now?" Then he added, "Just don't forget to take me with you." Lucky barked, "And me!"Natalie pouted. "Hero? Nope, not my plan!" Just then, frantic banging started coming from the other rooms. The people locked inside, like Lillian and Rosalie, had been listening the whole time. Hearing the two people in the hallway had left safely, they all tried to run out right away. Natalie glanced at the doors. "The main door out there is locked tight, but the locks inside are pretty weak." It was just a rope and a nail tied together. One good kick and they'd open. Soon, women from the rooms started pouring out into the hallway. Natalie and Cassian, with Lucky, stepped aside. The women rushed past them in a panic, trying to escape. Seeing them covered in wounds, looking utterly miserable, Natalie couldn't help but frown. Almost all of them were barely covered. Some had wrapped a blanket around themselves, but others didn't even have that, just using a pillow to cover private areas as they ran out. The sheets and pillows they carried were covered in dirt and blood. The most shocking part was that some women had no clothes, blankets, or pillows, and had to run out naked. Cassian, standing behind Natalie, immediately looked down, avoiding the sight. Natalie peeked into the nearest room. It was even worse inside. You could barely tell it used to be a luxurious hotel. It had its own bathroom, but the toilet clearly wasn't working right now. People had been forced to eat and go to the bathroom there. Nobody cleaned the restroom, so it smelled terrible. To stop them from escaping, thick wooden boards were nailed over the windows, leaving only tiny cracks for a little bit of light to get in.The once-white walls were stained with all kinds of strange marks. Both beds were filthy, the sheets were wrinkled and soaked with sweat and dried, dark blood.
