Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog
Actually, it wasn't that the Grayhound Sect members had moved. It was the three of them who had teleported to a corner of the yard, leaving a big gap between themselves and the Grayhound Sect. Harold's mouth dropped open. He already knew Natalie could use Blink, but seeing it happen right in front of him felt unreal. Inside the house, Roderick watched Natalie using Blink for the first time. He pressed his face to the glass and shouted, "That's so cool!" Even the enemies across from them were shocked. Three people were standing there one second, and then, in the blink of an eye, they were gone and appeared somewhere else! Even the fastest runner in the world couldn't move that far in that short time! Lisa and the others rubbed their eyes in disbelief, thinking they might be imagining things. On top of that, another surprise hit them—Philbert's gunshot was just a blank. Philbert frowned, angry and confused, and tried shooting again. Natalie used Blink again, and once more, the shot was empty. What the heck?! The Grayhound Sect couldn't believe it. It was one thing that the enemy kept teleporting, but why weren't the guns working either? Harold couldn't help teasing. "Did you guys come to fight without loading your bullets? Hahaha, so stupid!" Philbert yelled at his men, furious. "Why are you just standing there? Shoot!" Shocked by Natalie's superpower, the underlings finally snapped out of their shock. They lifted their guns and started shooting along with Philbert.Lisa grabbed the empty rifle Natalie had thrown back and started putting bullets in it. To everyone's surprise, none of the sect members' guns would fire. Only a few weak, pathetic clicks came out. Before Lisa could finish loading the rifle, Natalie had already teleported again with Cassian and Harold, landing right inside the Grayhound Sect's group, standing next to her. Forget about the sect—even Harold jumped in surprise. At that moment, he was pressed cheek-to-cheek with one of the guys, standing way too close. Harold gave an awkward smile. "Heh, hey there!" His words sounded casual, but his hand moved fast. Before the guy could react, Harold slid his pocket knife into the man's stomach. "Sorry for calling you stupid earlier. That was rude. I'm the kind of guy who ... " Before he could finish, and before he could even pull the knife out, Natalie grabbed his arm and teleported them all back to the yard. Chaos broke out in the Grayhound Sect's ranks. Even the usually calm Lisa looked shaken, staring at her hands in disbelief. The rifle and bullets she had just picked up were gone. "What kind of magic is this?!" Teleporting? Blinking? Superpower? A heavy fear washed over Lisa. She finally realized her skilled fighting didn't matter at all against this strange movement. She couldn't even touch them. In the courtyard, Natalie held up the rifle and a pile of bullets with a smile. She called out, "Oops, I snagged these back. You don't mind, right?" Then she handed them to Cassian and Harold. "Looks like you had your turn. Now it's ours."The Grayhound Sect felt like crying. Their turn? They hadn't even fired a single shot! Someone must've stolen all the bullets from their guns! Even the spare bullets in Philbert's pocket had been replaced with gravel! Seeing their guns go useless while the other side was ready to fire made Lisa feel like she'd fallen into freezing water. She stepped back to protect her team and shouted, "Battle pets! Release the battle pets!" Battle pets? Natalie raised an eyebrow, a little amused. This Grayhound Sect actually had something like that? Lions? Tigers? Too bad Lucky and the others weren't here. It would have been the perfect way to test their training. She sighed, then lifted her rifle, ready to take them out the easy way. Lions, tigers—anything living wouldn't survive her bullets. Imagine a hero from the old stories taking on a wild beast—if they'd had an assault rifle, it would've been over in no time. Suddenly, out of the thick fog behind the Grayhound Sect, a colorful rooster flapped its wings and flew forward. Natalie froze, finger on the trigger. That's the enemy's battle pet? Isn't that Cash? Before she could react, the Grayhound Sect moved aside to make a path down the center.Out of the fog walked a noble white dog with light, proud steps, and a big rabbit hopping behind it. Natalie's mouth twitched. Wait.Lucky ... Baron?
