Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 457 Proposal

"I don't buy that the people in that villa will just sit around, letting anyone barge in," Lisa said, pausing. "That's why Godfrey and his crew will go in first—to test the waters." Someone frowned. "But isn't it likely that Mr. Olson's men will come out on top?" Villa 1 only has two people inside! Lisa shook her head. "Even if Villa 1 is easy ... what if we throw Villa 2 into the mix? Maybe a few others too ... " Philbert's eyes lit up. "You mean ... get someone else to do the dirty work for us?" Lisa gave a faint smile. "Who beats who isn't set in stone. Let's just call it letting the dogs fight." Philbert grinned. "And we'll be the hunter reaping the rewards." Lisa pressed her lips together. "We'll need to stir the pot. The men I planted earlier—it's time to use them." Philbert blinked. "You mean we have our people inside Mr. Olson's team to spark a fight at Villa 2?" Lisa hummed, a small curve to her lips. "Since he loves showing off, we'll let his men burn through the enemy's ammo." She leaned back casually. "And don't forget—set Villa 5 on fire while you're at it." Philbert laughed. "Understood!" Another lieutenant chimed in excitedly, "Ms. Eland, that's genius! By the time we arrive, all we'll need to do is clean up. Anyone left standing—we'll take care of them too!" Lisa rubbed her fingertips together. "There's still a mountain of supplies buried around the Hillside Villa District. Once we take Greenhaven Mountain, we'll dig them out slowly. The brothers we planted as spies will get triple their usual cut."She remembered something. "One family still has a working excavator. That'll come in handy—make sure we find it." She chuckled. "I'll give it to my son to play with." Her inner circle responded in unison. "Yes, ma'am!" Lisa finally noticed Joe, fiddling with the silver bracelet on his wrist. She sighed. "Leave Villa 12 alone for now. I have other plans for it." Joe's eyes lit up. "Thanks, Mom!" Meanwhile, Godfrey huddled with his men, plotting the next day's attack. "Boss, once we take Villa 1, we won't go back! We'll just fortify it and wait for Lisa's crew to walk right into us." Godfrey threw back his head and laughed. "Finally! I've swallowed my pride long enough. It's my turn to settle this!" One of his men spoke cautiously. "But Boss ... she agreed too easily to let us go first. Could it be a trap?" Godfrey waved it off. "Nonsense. I only suggested it after she finished giving the intel. What trap could there be? "Even if she wants us to be the vanguard paving the way for her, so what? We've got the numbers. Villa 1's two people can't stop us." "Boss is right! No need to overthink—let's just do it!" The next morning, Godfrey led his men in a massive column toward Greenhaven Mountain. At the same time, inside one of the hillside villas, it was bustling. Roderick peeked out of the closet, panicked. "Honey, hurry! Don't make us late for Mr. Holland's big day!" Nadia was fixing their son's hair, giving him a sharp look. "I'm ready. Out of the whole family, you're the slowest. And you've got the nerve to rush us?" Roderick chuckled. "Alright, you're right! Just give me a sec to change." He grabbed a suit he hadn't worn in ages and hurried to put it on. "We've got to move fast—we're supposed to help Harold and the others set up too." Nadia finished tidying, put on her gas mask, and said, "You don't need to be there. I'll handle the setup. You just stand guard outside Mr. Holland's place." Roderick nodded. "Fair enough." Then he kissed her cheek. "Thanks, babe." Nadia smiled, pressing her lips together. "Of course. You know I love being in the thick of it." Dominic pouted. "Mom, Dad, what are we even doing?" Nadia pinched his cheek. "Cassian is proposing. We're helping him out." Dominic nodded slowly, not really grasping it. "Oh ... proposing." Nadia sighed, knowing he didn't understand. "Mr. Holland is really something else. Even after the world went to hell, he still plans a surprise proposal for Ms. Ashford." Roderick tightened his belt, muttering, "If you ask me, he already won her heart. What's all the fuss for?" Nadia shot him a look. "That's because you don't understand what it means to cherish a woman." Roderick's eyes widened. "Hey now, that makes it sound like I don't!" Nadia sniffed. "Not as much as Mr. Holland." Roderick protested, "What? My proposal to you was pretty grand too, wasn't it?"
