Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 456 Cautious, Clever Rich Folks

For my own safety? Lisa sneered quietly. If she stayed here, by the time they got back, not a single one of her trusted men would be left. Now that would be real danger. Everyone in the hall knew both Lisa and Godfrey weren't afraid to strike anyone in their way. If either of them led the team, the other side would definitely take heavy losses. So the two sides' followers started arguing, refusing to give an inch, and the room quickly erupted into chaos again. Amid the noise, Lisa clicked her tongue at Godfrey. "Godfrey, look at you. Everyone was happy before, and now you show up, and they're fighting again." Her tone left no room for politeness. Godfrey glared back, unwilling to back down. "So, Ms. Eland, you're saying I shouldn't have come to this meal?" Lisa snorted coldly. "I never said that. Honestly, what's up with your listening skills? You always get things twisted." The standoff dragged on, neither side budging. Finally, Godfrey's temper flared. He gritted his teeth. "If you won't let me lead a team, fine. I'll at least handle some of the work myself." He waved his hand dramatically. "I'll take a group of brothers with me!" He could lead the fight if he wanted to—there was no way she could stop him. If he couldn't crush Lisa's men, at least he could protect his own people. Without waiting for Lisa's response, he stood and moved toward the exit. Philbert, sitting to the left, leapt up and drew his knife, stepping in front of him. "Stop! Did Ms. Eland say you could leave?!" Godfrey's men immediately rose, forming a defensive circle around him.Philbert's followers mirrored the action. Across the aisle, the two groups glared at each other, tension thick enough to cut with a knife. Lisa let out a soft, almost invisible sigh. There were battles ahead—this was no time for internal squabbles or wasting manpower. She snapped sharply. "Philbert! Who said you could talk to Mr. Olson like that? Sit down!" Philbert shot Godfrey a glare, then reluctantly sat. His men followed suit, returning to their seats. Lisa's eyes fixed on Godfrey. He smirked and waved to his men. "You too, sit down!" Lisa had the upper hand, and Godfrey couldn't sway her loyal supporters. A head-on fight would get him nowhere. Once the room quieted, Lisa said, "Since you're so eager to lead, Mr. Olson, fine. Take a group and scout ahead." Godfrey narrowed his eyes. She wants me and my men to go first while she stays back, enjoying the results? It annoyed him, but he knew it was already a concession. At least his own people were under his command—not cannon fodder for her. And he was confident that taking Villa 1 would be easy. After all, they were just two people, while he had over 200 men. The numbers were overwhelming. Losing wasn't an option. Once Villa 1 was secured, he could lure Lisa's people into Villa 2 and weaken her further. He gave a slight bow. "I won't let you down, Ms. Eland!"Joe, sitting beside Lisa, saw Godfrey heading to Greenhaven Mountain and opened his mouth to speak. Lisa pressed her hand on his leg under the table, signaling him to stay quiet. The boy looked at his mother, anxious and impatient. Lisa whispered in his ear. "If you want to keep that Whitney safe, you stay quiet." Her gaze swept the room. "I've taught you—never show what you care about in front of others. That's how they'll find your weakness." Joe fiddled with his sleeve and stayed silent. After the banquet, Godfrey led his men out, and most of the others had left as well. The hall was left with only Lisa and a few trusted aides. "Lisa, are you really going to let him go first? Doesn't that put us at a disadvantage?" "Yeah, he could take Villa 1 as his base and strike our men afterward." Lisa smiled calmly. "Do you all really think taking Villa 1 is a guaranteed win?" The others exchanged glances. "Well ... it doesn't seem too hard." Two people, no guns, a big house with plenty of weak points. Even a dozen men could take it, let alone 200. Lisa chuckled. "Don't underestimate cautious clever rich folks. All the windows in that villa are one-way glass, and the security cameras are fully functional. That tells you how careful they are."
