Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 406 The Thick Fog

"Lillian, I want to kill him so badly!" Rosalie burst into tears when she heard that, crying uncontrollably. "Don't kill Dad! Derek, please don't kill Dad!" Derek kept shouting in his rough voice, "Kill him! I have to kill him!" Rosalie clung to his arm and sobbed so hard she could hardly breathe. "No! Derek, I'm begging you, please don't do it. Waaaah ... " One person was furious, and the other was heartbroken. Both were yelling at the top of their voices. Lillian frowned. "What is wrong with you two? Why are you making such a scene?" As she said that, the unease and fear inside her grew even stronger. "Enough! Let's go! If Natalie shows up, we won't be able to leave." Derek's eyes were bloodshot. "Natalie? What's there to fear? I could knock out ten of her with one punch! Anyone who hurts you, I'll make them pay!" Rosalie kept crying, "But Mom, if we run away, what about Dad?" Lillian grew more impatient. "Hurry up! Stop dawdling!" She moved ahead and mumbled under her breath, "Please don't let Natalie catch us, please don't let her find us ... " Derek grabbed their bags and hurried after her, shouting, "Lillian! Wait! Don't worry! If someone hurts you, I'll kick them to death!" Rosalie looked back at Jacob, not wanting to leave him, then followed Lillian while still sobbing. "Waaaah! Wait, don't leave me! What about Dad ... "The three of them walked off, arguing and shouting, slowly fading into the thick fog. Inside the Hillside Villa District, the sounds of fighting and yelling kept coming from every direction. "This is my house! I saw it first!" "So what? I stepped in before you did!" "Hey! Try to steal my house and I'll kill you!" "Bring it on! Let's see who kills who first!" "Stop fighting, I'm really scared!" "Me too! Waaaah, this fog is creeping me out!" "Scared? Why be scared? Let's have some fun!" Harold and Olivia stood in their front yard, hearing all the noise and looking at each other with worried faces. Olivia frowned. "What's wrong with these people? They're acting like crazy." Harold suddenly seemed to realize something. He hurriedly pulled out the gas masks he had kept before the apocalypse. He handed one to Olivia and said, "Put this on." Olivia saw the gas mask and immediately understood. "Do you think something's wrong with the fog?" Harold replied, "People nearby are acting strange. Let's put these on, just in case." He went to Ghania. "Mom, put the gas mask on, hurry." Ghania grabbed the mask, complaining as she put it on. "Ugh, damn it! These idiots just keep shouting! It's driving me crazy!"Harold's heart skipped a beat when he heard her swear. She hadn't cursed in a long time. Ever since Olivia had helped her with needle therapy to calm her outbursts, her temper had been calm. But now, out of nowhere, she was getting angry again. Harold frowned. This fog must be affecting people's nerves and feelings. Ghania finished putting on the mask, but she kept shouting and cursing. Her words came muffled through the mask. "Ugh! You brat! This stupid thing is way too tight! "Damn it! First, it rains too much, then there's a drought, then we survive the heat, and now fog hits us. Nothing ever goes right! Might as well blow up the whole world! "Goddamn it! We just moved into a new house and there's an earthquake. Finally get things settled, and now we have to move again!" As she spoke, she angrily smashed two cups. Olivia noticed something strange, too. "Harold, Ghania's acting weird." When the earthquake hit before and they had to move, Ghania never complained. She always stayed positive about finding a new home. But now, after settling in and moving their things, why was she suddenly whining like this? Before Harold could answer, a few cages in the yard started shaking badly. Earlier, the three of them had locked up the chickens and rabbits to stop them from running around while moving things. Now, the animals inside were fighting like crazy. Even the chickens that usually pecked each other occasionally were unusually aggressive. And normally calm Snowy was starting to act aggressive. Harold looked at the restless animals, then patiently calmed Ghania before speaking to Olivia, "There's definitely something wrong with this fog. My mom and the neighbors only started acting strange after it got thicker."Olivia nodded but looked confused. "Then why aren't we affected?" She touched her chest, feeling completely calm, not annoyed or upset at all. Harold thought for a moment. "I think this fog doesn't just make people grumpy. It makes their existing emotions even stronger."
