Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog

Chapter 401 Using Natalie's Name

"Mind your own business! Get out of my way!" A voice answered fast, "Mr. Ashford, you're biting the hand that feeds you!" "You got a damn problem with me?!" Jacob exploded and started swearing without thinking. Years of carefully built reputation as a calm, respectable businessman disappeared in a second. If his legs weren't broken and he could stand, he would have punched someone already. He wanted to punch Lillian! Punch those nosy people! Smash the whole world! But Lillian looked totally unbothered, even when things were crazy around her. She pulled a small mirror from her pocket and fixed her hair. She had always been shameless and only cared about her own benefit. Talking back to these bystanders was pointless. Better to straighten up, look decent, and find someone who would support her for a long time. Jacob was furious at her attitude. People nearby started saying mean things. "Hey, Mr. Ashford, with Mrs. Ashford acting like that, maybe she has a late-night date?" Jacob could not take it any longer. In the end, he used Natalie's name to try to shut them up. "Anybody else says one more word, I'll go get a gun from Natalie and blow your head off!" Everyone knew Jacob and Natalie did not get along, but still, she was his daughter. No one wanted to risk their safety betting on whether they would make up someday. So the crowd quickly scattered. "Ugh, some people just don't appreciate help." "Yeah, serves him right lying there all pathetic. I was going to help him up, too." After everyone left, Jacob turned to Lillian and snapped, "What are you doing, primping in front of a mirror?" Lillian, who'd been pushed down for years, didn't hold back now. She rolled her eyes so hard. "Why does it matter to you? We're done. Stop acting like you can boss me around!" Jacob couldn't make her obey, so he brought up Natalie again. "Oh, so now that I've out of supplies and got hurt, you think you can just turn your back on me? Don't forget, I can get more whenever I want. Once I make up with Natalie and take the Hollands' assets, you'll be the one regretting it!" Lillian ignored him. She understood things clearly. Natalie wasn't that soft, easy-to-control little girl anymore. She wiped out the entire Boltons just because she was displeased. The only reason Jacob was still alive was that she hadn't completely lost her humanity. Getting supplies from her wasn't going to happen. But Lillian didn't bother to argue. She kept touching up her hair and makeup. Jacob was furious at being ignored, and his voice rose. "Even if Natalie won't help, I have Mom and Rosalie. Once they come back, let's see how you explain yourself then!" After that, Jacob stopped arguing with her. He leaned against the side of the road and waited for his daughter to return. Meanwhile, Olivia, Harold, and Ghania picked out a villa and got ready to move their stuff. They had wanted to wait until it was totally safe. Still, they feared the house might collapse at any moment, destroying all the valuable lab equipment and fuel Harold had stored. So while the building was still holding strong, they took the risk to save what they could. To make things go faster, they borrowed Cassian's big truck from Villa 1. Natalie handed over the keys right away. "Be careful," she said. Olivia nodded. "Nat, aren't you moving your supplies, too?" Natalie shook her head. "No rush for me. I'll wait until things settle down a bit. Once things settle down, I'll start moving." She usually kept her important supplies in her storage space, so there were only a few things in Villa 14, just for show. She planned to wait until tomorrow, make sure there were no more aftershocks, and then move those things in her storage space. There was no reason to take risks right now. Harold said, "Okay, we'll get started. If you need help moving later, just call me." Natalie smiled. "It's fine, Cassian is here. You guys just focus on your move." After Olivia and the others left, Natalie turned to Cassian. "Speaking of moving, I wonder how our new house at the official base is doing. We just bought it. I hope it's not destroyed already." Cassian stayed calm. "It's fine. We're not living there yet. Even if it's gone, we can rebuild. We can bring our ID cards, fill out the forms, and keys to pick out a new one." Natalie nodded. "You're right." Then Cassian said, "The official base also gave me a piece of land. If you want, we can build our own home there."Natalie blinked in surprise. "A piece of land?" Cassian nodded calmly. "Yeah, about 7,5 acres. It was part of the deal when I sold them fuel." Natalie twitched her lips. "Why didn't you tell me before? If we already have land, why bother buying a house?" Seven and a half acres—that's about 320,000 square feet. They could do way more than just build one house. It was big enough to make a small villa community.
