Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog
Cassian finished explaining his situation. Then he said, "Anyway, now that we're together ... " He paused, his tone becoming serious. "And we'll always be together from now on. Everything I have is naturally yours too. If you're willing, I can take you to see our warehouses." Hearing this, Natalie's whole body tensed up. What's going on? What does he mean by "our warehouses"? They'd only been dating for two months. This man was ready to hand over his entire fortune to her? Was he completely lovesick? Natalie felt inexplicably nervous. Seeing that Natalie remained silent, Cassian continued, "Don't worry, I'm not like Mr. Theodore. I don't care about bikini babes or have any bad habits. My only interest is ... " He didn't finish his sentence, but his eyes were locked directly on Natalie. Natalie was shocked by his honesty. Now meeting his gaze, she didn't know how to react. After mulling it over for a long time, she finally made her move. She quickly punched him in the chest. Cassian was speechless. Natalie snapped, "Enough talking during dinner!" She then focused on shoveling quinoa into her mouth. Cassian couldn't help but laugh. Why does this woman always hit me for no reason? Seeing that Natalie was already eating, he didn't disturb her further. He quietly put some scrambled eggs with tomatoes in his mouth. While Natalie appeared to be calmly enjoying her meal, she was actually deeply conflicted inside. Cassian was clearly getting serious about their relationship. But she had secretly taken his supplies. She wanted to tell him about it. But how could she explain her method of transferring the supplies? Although their relationship had been developing well recently, she still didn't want to reveal the storage space. Perhaps it was the psychological trauma left by her parents' situation. Between men and women, when love was at its peak, everything could be shared. But could such feelings really last forever? A person's lifetime was simply too long. Who could promise to stay with their beloved forever? If they couldn't, that trust could become a knife turned against you. Ugh. Dating really is a pain in the ass. The more Natalie thought about it, the more anxious she became. Even her eating became much more aggressive. Cassian watched his girlfriend gulping down her food. He couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. Had he expressed too much today and scared her off? After dinner, Natalie finally responded to his question. "Let's talk about seeing the warehouses later. I'm not ready yet." She was hiding so many secrets from him. How could she have the nerve to look at his things? Since she was keeping her own cards close to her chest, naturally she couldn't expose all of his either. Cassian hesitated. Then he looked at her and said, "Alright. When you want to see them, I'll take you there." After cleaning up the dishes, neither of them brought up the topic again. The next day, Natalie got dressed, ready to go see the snowmobile as agreed. Today's schedule was packed. She also had to pick up the water tank trucks in the afternoon. So she hurried out right after breakfast. "I might be back late tonight. If you get hungry, don't wait for me. Eat first." Cassian was taken aback. This meant she wasn't taking him along. He thought for a moment. He chose not to pry, but only asked, "Why so late?" Natalie said while changing her shoes, "After seeing the snowmobile, I have some other business to attend to." Cassian looked at her. He knew she didn't want to go into details with him. So he didn't ask what kind of business. He said, "Okay, stay safe." Natalie responded and left. Lucky, who had just finished eating her dog food, ran a few steps too slow. Her owner had already left. She stood there blankly in the entryway, looking at the closed door. Cassian smirked. "Lucky, come here." She looked at the door again, then trotted over to Cassian, wagging her tail. Cassian petted her head. "Stop looking. Natalie abandoned us both." Lucky obediently lay in his arms. Why did she feel the handsome guy was even more disappointed than she was? Cassian brushed her fur while looking toward the door. How come after he'd offered up his entire fortune, it seemed like he'd actually pushed Natalie further away? That wasn't what Roderick had told him would happen. Cassian thought about it. He got up and went back to the bedroom to change his outfit, preparing to go out. Lucky immediately sat up straight. She barked urgently while pawing at him with great force. Cassian found her anxious expression amusing. "Alright, alright, I'll take you with me." He found the leash and put it on Lucky's neck. Then he helped her into her climate suit. Then he left with Lucky. ... Meanwhile, Natalie drove the Knight XV straight to the Centralview District. She sat in the car, hands gripping the steering wheel, feeling conflicted. Thank goodness she'd driven the Ford Transit to the Cassiland Base before. Otherwise, she'd be driving the armored SUV right in front of its owner!
