Shining Through the Chaos with My Bulldog
"You're not bad. But if you want to blame someone, blame your brother. He picked the wrong people to mess with." After finishing off Kelvin, Natalie turned to Magnus. "Where did you get these guns?" Magnus was still frozen in fear, shaken by Kelvin's death. His lips trembled, but no words came out. Natalie frowned and kicked him. "I asked you a question. Where did the guns come from?" Magnus finally snapped back to reality, but instead of answering, he begged, "Bonnie, please don't kill me! I swear I never did anything to you. I wasn't even close to Cyril!" Natalie picked up the gun Kelvin had dropped and waved it in front of his face. "This one. Where did you get it?" Seeing the weapon in her hand made him panic even more. "Please, don't shoot me! I'll never take revenge for Kelvin. He was just a tool I used, nothing more. If you let me live, I'll act like none of this ever happened. We'll go our separate ways, okay?" Natalie was speechless. Did this monkey have a problem understanding her question? She rolled her eyes, her patience running thin. "When did I ever say I was going to kill you?" Magnus let out a shaky breath, almost relieved. But then Natalie pointed at Cassian. "You're his problem now." Magnus turned and saw Cassian's cold expression. His stomach dropped all over again."Mr. Holland—please! I'm with Holland Group too. I've worked there for over ten years! You have to let me go!" Cassian stepped closer, his voice low and steady. "You messed with the wrong people." Magnus thought Cassian meant the lies he spread using the company's name. He rushed to apologize. "Yes, yes, I was wrong! I shouldn't have made things up. I shouldn't have dragged you and Holland Group into it. Please, don't kill me!" Cassian glanced at Natalie. "That's not what I meant." Magnus broke down completely, babbling nonstop about his mistakes and begging to be spared. Cassian frowned, catching the sharp stench of urine from the floor. Disgusted, he stepped back. Natalie pinched her nose and pressed, "Just tell us where the guns came from." Magnus stammered, "W-we made them ourselves." She leaned closer. "Who did you work with?" Breathing hard, Magnus looked at the two of them standing over him. His breathing turned rapid. "It was ... it was ... " His pupils shrank suddenly. His mouth opened, but no sound came out. A moment later, he went still. Cassian frowned and crouched down to check. After a moment, he lifted his head toward Natalie. "Cardiac arrest." Natalie asked in confusion, "Your knockout drug was lethal?" Cassian shook his head. "No. He died of fright."Natalie had no word. Seriously? Magnus, the big boss himself, scared to death by a few questions? She had thought he was a smart, tough opponent. Turns out, he was a coward all along. Cassian stood up. "He probably panicked after seeing how Kelvin died. He's been rambling nonsense since then." Natalie turned to Amber, who was still lying nearby in shock. "Do you know who made these guns?" Amber stammered, her voice trembling. "I—I don't know! I really don't!" Her mind was replaying every moment she had mocked Natalie and flirted with Cassian earlier. Now she was too shaken to even form a full sentence. Cassian glanced at her, then at the people still passed out on the ground. He asked Natalie, "The drug lasts another hour. What do you plan to do with the rest of them?" Natalie thought it over. Those six top men had to be dealt with. Otherwise, eventually, they'd come after her for revenge. Besides them, there had to be one more person in this crowd—Magnus's secret gun-maker. Magnus's words had confirmed that such a person existed, though she still had no idea who it was. She swept her gaze across the room and finally said, "Take care of all of them." Better to kill too many than let one slip away. After all, every single one of them had just been shouting, "Kill Natalie."Even if she hadn't drugged them tonight, they would've stormed Maplecourt to hunt her down. From the moment she met Cyril, this had already become a fight to the death. She turned and met Cassian's eyes. "What? Never seen someone this ruthless before?" She made a decision that affected so many lives with just one word. In any novel or TV show, she'd be painted as the villainess. Cassian studied her. "Yeah, you're ruthless." Then he asked, "Do you want the left side or the right?" Natalie stared into his eyes, deep and dark as a cave. "I don't get it. What do you mean?" Cassian pressed his lips together. "There are too many. I'll help you. Half each."
