Harvest Moon: Bound to My Four Stepbrothers

Chapter 35 Predicament

Benjamin’s P.O.V. After I met Aspen and Hunter Daniel asked me to move back into the Palace and I was more then willing to do so, but not for the reason he thinks. Yes, I want to be close to my new Daughter and Granddaughter, but that is not the main reason. Jayce was the first one to come talk to me, it was on the day Hunter showed us all what she was made of. I still remember the look on his face as we sat in his office, an office he holds until he takes over from his Father. Jayce looks nervous as I sit down in the armchair across from him, he asked me to meet him here and I knew it was important. I don’t push him into talking to me, he will start talking once he is ready. “Grandfather, I found my Mate.” He says, but the look in his eyes tells me that something is up and I wait on him to tell me everything. My jaws drops when he tells me she is not of age yet and that he doesn’t know how to manage until she is. “Jayce, how long will it take before she becomes of age?” I ask him and I really feel for him when he tells that for the next three more Harvest Moons she will not be able to tell. “Jayce, are you telling me that Hunter is your Mate?” I ask him, even though I already know the answer. He nods his head as I see a sadness in his eyes I have never seen before and I ask him what I can do for him. He asks if I am willing to move back into the Palace, keep an eye on Hunter while he goes on short assignments for the Council. “I don’t think I can control myself or Colt if I am around her twenty-four seven. I don’t want to tip her off, Dad always told us that the underaged should find out for themselves. I want her to enjoy her life, not worry about an over-protective Mate.” He says and I tell him I will keep an eye on her. The next day it was Justin that confided in me and the day after that Jax and Jason came to me, each of them asked me the same question. Not to tell anyone else and now I have to keep a secret of my Grandsons to myself. They are unaware they all share the same Mate and I wonder if this has ever happened before, but how am I going to find out without breaking my promise to my Grandsons. I don’t even know if I will be able to find an answer. It is the first Full Moon after the Harvest Moon and I am sitting on a bench near the grave of my girls. I keep going over my Grandsons all being mated to my Granddaughter and it is driving me and Reginald insane. We don’t know where to look for answers or who to ask, I send a prayer up to my girls even though I know they won’t answer me. My mind goes over everything I have heard and seen, since I found out they are all mated to Hunter and I know they need to stay away from her as much as they can. I have seen the looks they give unmated males at the Palace or the training grounds and I have heard them growl on a few occasions. So far they have been able to convince Daniel and Aspen that they are just protective of their little Sister. Hunter luckily seems unaware of everything and is just enjoying her new life. Her Uncle was punished by the Council and is currently forbidden to come anywhere near the Palace grounds. Her Grandfather is a different story; he tries almost every single day to get close to her, even though he is not allowed inside the Palace. Not that Hunter or Justice allow it, the both of them have no interest in that family what so ever and they make it known every chance they get. Justice mainly growls at him and Hunter gives him murderous looks. When she turned fifteen Alfred gifted her the family jewels and she had planned on throwing them in his face, but Gabe had put a stop to it by saying, “Princess, they belong to the female bloodline of the Lycan King. They belong in the Palace, even if you never want to wear them they belong here. You can place them in the vault or you can have them displayed in the Throne room. You can do with them what ever you want, but I don’t think it is a good idea if you hand them back.” Hunter had smiled at him before she turned to Daniel and asked him to place them in the vault until she decided what to do with them. After talking to her Mom and Dad Hunter decided to put them on display in the Throne room and now everyone can enjoy their beauty. “Prince Benjamin, is something wrong?” I hear someone ask and as I turn around I think I have found the one person that might be able to help me. Council Elder Matthias is looking at me with a questioning look on his face.I ask him if he has seen anyone around here and he immediately understands that this conversation doesn’t need to go any further then the two of us. He closes his eyes for a moment, before he tells me that we are safe. I quickly tell him my predicament and I see a small smile appear on his face, it tells me that he is aware of something that I am not. “Prince Benjamin, the Council really likes Princess Hunter. She is curious about things no one else wants to talk about, she is quick with a response and some of them are good, while others are not so much. Princess Hunter is an extraordinary female, I believe she has four Mates for a reason. Sometimes she will need a firm hand to guide her, Jayce is best suited for that. Sometimes she just needs a cuddle, that is where Justin comes in. Sometimes she needs someone to argue with, I believe Jax will take care of that. Sometimes she needs someone to be on her side, Jason will always be there for that. With so many sides to her personality she needs more than one Mate.” He says. His explanation makes sense and I ask him if there is something I can do to make it easier on my Grandsons to deal with this. I tell him that Jayce already is considering taking on short assignments. He tells me that the Council will keep the boys in mind for those assignments and that it might actually help them deal with their predicament. “How do they feel about sharing a Mate?” He asks and laughing I shake my head. “They are unaware of that fact and I wonder how long it will take before one of them confides in the others. I would love to see the look on their faces when they find out.” I say and he asks me if I can arrange front row tickets, making us both chuckle. We talk a little more about Hunter and her studies and he tells me that she is a better student than the boys ever were. Her interests are all over the place and she does nothing half-hearted, when she wants answers she finds them. “Matthias, I am glad that Daniel found Aspen. She makes him happy and he deserves to be happy again. Most of all I am glad for Hunter walking into our lives, she has brought life back to the Palace. Brent and Gabe found each other and my Grandsons found their Mate. I hope I live to see the day that my Grandpups have Pups of their own, but if I die tomorrow I will die a happy man.” I say truthfully. “Prince Benjamin, you will out live all of us.” He answers teasingly and after we talk a while longer he leaves to meet with Hunter for her studies on Lycan law. Something she requested as a part of her studies and the Council granted her request. I see that Hunter paid the grave a visit, because there are fresh flowers and a small pot with an abelia in it. Hunter’s favorite plant, she takes good care of the ones on her balcony and I smile as I realize this is her way of being close to my girls. “If they used their fucking brains they could know she is mated to all of them.” Reginald growls in my head and I ask him to clarify himself. He asks me if I remember what happened when I told them about the First Lycan King and I curse under my breath. If one of my Grandsons or the people around them would pay attention, their secret would be out in no time. I am not sure how Hunter will react to this or how her parents are going to react. There is one thing I do know for sure and that is that a lot of females are going to hate Hunter. She will be taking the most desirable men of the market, not only because of their status, but also because they are handsome to a fault.
