Alpha Amarath

Chapter 750 Solid Theory

Indigo’s p.o.v. Ever since Inti told me that he wants to see where this is leading, whatever this might be, my mind has been running in circles. Kardia likes the idea of finally having a Mate, she likes Ronion and Inti and what is not to like about the two of them. They are kind and caring, always keeping an eye on us and they are never too far away. “Indigo, can you take the Pups and Joey away from Jocelyn? Doc needs to talk to her about her wound.” Inti’s voice sounds in my head. This must be serious, because I doubt Inti would ask me to leave otherwise and I use the time to prepare a little surprise for Jocelyn. Joey keeps listening to their conversation and I only hear snippets of it, too busy with getting the help of other Pack-members. I remember the lesson Jocelyn is talking about and I am not surprised that she has realized that there is a bond between her and Joey or with Faye, Jenna and Christian. Joey gets emotional when her words finally sink in and I let him have a moment with Jocelyn, before we make our way over to her. I watch as Joseph and Joey help my Sister by choice to lie down and for a few minutes I just look at the scene in front of me. Jocelyn surrounded by the people that love her, that care about her and that includes Joseph. The only thing I am not sure about is if Joseph and Jocelyn have figured it out, if they understand that something is building between them. Inti places his hand on my back and I lean closer to him, while we both watch our friends. “Let’s get some rest. We need to get moving again tonight and the thought of a possible ambush has Ronion on edge.” Inti says and I just nod my head. I snuggle into his side, my head on his shoulder and one hand placed flat on his chest. Inti’s arm is wrapped around my shoulder and I feel him placing a gentle kiss on the top of my head. Kardia and I are convinced that there is a bond forming between us and we both hope it is a bond that can rival the bond of fated Mates. A bond that will be stronger than that of chosen Mate, a bond that will give hope to other Shifters that want to find a true Mate-bond. I hear Inti’s breathing even out and I am glad he can catch up on some of the sleep he has lost over the years. Herold confided in me that Inti sometimes worries him and Joseph, that he refuses to go to bed to sleep or just to lie down and get some rest.An Alpha is always worried about the safety of his Pack-members and Inti is no acceptation to that worry, he just needs someone to remind him of his own importance for the Pack every now and then. Kardia and I hope that we can be that person for him some day, I don’t think I would want another male as my Mate. I never felt comfortable around males, Jocelyn and I always thought it had to do with the war and the fear that our parents instilled on us. Right now, I think it might have been something deep inside of me that stopped me. Something that wanted me to find a male that would treat me good, a male that would want me for me and not because we can’t find a fated Mate anymore. Every male in this Pack is more concerned with the well-being of a female, than they are with getting a Mate. The ones that have a Mate are very protective, but also kind and caring towards their Mate and that is the kind of Mate that I have wanted all my life. Talking to the females in this Pack I have gotten confirmation on a theory that Jocelyn and I have. It was after one of Aunt Gail’s lessons that Jocelyn and I got interested in this subject. In the old days it was possible for a female Shifter to get pregnant by someone that wasn’t her Mate, but after listening to Aunt Gail we figured that that disappeared along with fated Mates. We dove into the Pack’s archive to find evidence of our theory and we found out that there had not been a birth with parents that hadn’t marked one another. Doc had been interested in our theory and he had helped me to figure out if the same applied to Little Crescent Pack. My theory is a solid one and he managed to send an email to the Elders during one of the rare moments we could connect to the internet. The Elders will try to get an answer to my theory and many Packs might be pleased to hear whether it is right or wrong. It will at least prevent a few females from claiming a male or for parents to twist someone’s arm to accept a Mate they have no real interest in. Maybe I should ask Aunt Gail to write down her lessons, it will benefit our Pack-members and maybe Alpha Amarah might be interested in teaching her Pack-members a few of these lessons. Even though we might have to make a few adjustments to those lessons in the future, because not everything will stay the same. I watch Warriors changing shifts and in the meantime I enjoy the feeling of Inti’s arm around my shoulder. I think of the Pack-house that is waiting for us, Inti told me that Alpha Amarah wanted the Pack to have a choice. Stay a Pack within their borders or to join their Pack and so far the Pack-members want to stay a Pack of their own.Alpha Amarah and Alpha Theseus will have the final say about issues within their borders, but Inti will be able to have a say in matters that concern our Pack-members. Inti told me to compare it to a small Kingdom, where Alpha Amarah and Alpha Theseus have taken on the role of the Royal family. There is a major difference though, our Warriors will run border patrol around the entire territory and not just the small part where our Pack-house is. I can’t wait to finally reach our destination and settle into some sort of normal again.
