Alpha Amarath

Chapter 729 Bloody Scene

Inti’s p.o.v. Ronion is out for blood, but I am not sure what his problem is. He has been acting like this since we saw Indigo checking out Herold, but then again so was Jocelyn and he wasn’t upset with her for checking out an unmated male. No matter what I ask him, Ronion keeps quiet and I eventually give up on making him talk to me. He will spill his guts when he is good and ready, until that time I will let him deal with this on his own. “What was your problem, Joseph?” I ask, remembering that he growled when Jocelyn took of her dress and again when her Wolf was looking at Herold. “I don’t have a problem, but Griffin does. He didn’t like it that Jocelyn was checking out Herold, but he can’t explain to me why he is mad about it.” Joseph responds and for a few moments the mind-link between us goes quiet. “I don’t understand the problem, Herold is unmated and so are Jocelyn and Indigo….” He gets interrupted by both our Wolves growling and for a moment I am too stunned to respond. I try to make sense of this situation and I think back over the past twenty four hours, Ronion had gone after Indigo without a second thought. He would have killed each male that tried to kidnap her, if she hadn’t collapsed from exhaustion. I chalk his behavior up to the knowledge of her fate, if they had succeeded in getting away with her and then of course there was Jocelyn. She wouldn’t have liked it if her friend had been taken, while she had been free. Ronion’s soft growl pulls me from my thoughts and I allow the scent he smells to settle down, it is the distinct smell of blood. A lot of blood by the smell of it and I know that whoever the blood is from, is long dead. I order two Warriors to follow us, before I let Ronion follow the scent of blood in the air. Our convoy slows down, but they keep moving forward and we slowly walk into the tree line. We have barely set foot into the tree line, when we see the first signs of blood. The blood is already dried, a clear indication that whatever happened here, happened at least twenty four hours ago. The scene of blood isn’t slowing us down, I just hope that my instincts are deceiving me and we will find whoever fought here still alive. Paw prints on the forest floor tell us that this was an unfair fight, but whoever they were after did a lot of damage to some of their attackers. We walk around some bushes to see a body lying face down on the ground, not the blood Ronion is smelling and we keep moving. Two more bodies are on the ground, but neither one of them is the source of the blood scent. “They probably attacked an Alpha or a Beta, those are hard to kill if you aren’t of a high rank yourself.” Ronion says to me, before he makes a sharp turn to the left. After a few more steps, we are face with an old oak tree and a body is leaning against the trunk. Ronion doesn’t waste time to get to the body, we already know that it is a dead body. “Fuck, that is Jordan.” I growl and I send one of the Warriors back to get Jocelyn. She will have the questionable honor of telling Jenna and Faye one day, but she needs to see the fight he put up to protect his Pups. Because there are two other bodies on the ground near him, but his injuries must have been to sever to survive. It takes a few minutes before I hear, “Just entered the tree line, Alpha.” I just hope that she can handle everything she will see here tonight. Jocelyn’s p.o.v. “Tell one of the others that you will shift, that I will shift back the moment Alpha Inti returns.” I say, but she doesn’t have time to respond. One of the Warriors Alpha Inti took with him returns and he makes a beeline for Erylis, gesturing to the tree line when he is near us. Erylis breaks our formation and follows the Wolf into the forest, but I am gagging at the sight of all the blood on the forest floor. Erylis points out the amount of paw prints and I quickly determine that there were at least six Wolves here. We pass three bodies, before I see Alpha Inti on his hunches near a tree. I barely register that he is butt naked, my eyes strained on the body against the tree. “This is Beta Jordan, Jenna and Faye’s Father.” He whispers and Erylis whimpers softly, knowing that those two little girls have lost both their parents. She slowly walks around the old oak tree and finds a same situation as when we found Beta Faye, she starts to dig a grave with her paws. The Wolf, that came to get us, starts to help her and soon the grave is deep enough for Beta Jordan. Erylis marks the tree in the same way she did for Beta Faye and then she steps aside to give Alpha Inti the space he needs to place the body in the grave. We close the grave quickly and I say a silent prayer to the Goddess, before we walk back to the convoy. Kardia is walking next to our SUV with my dress on her back, I shift back to Human form and put the dress on, before I step into the SUV. Erylis and I need time to process what we saw, Beta Jordan killed all of their attackers and the chance of anyone coming for the girls is slim to none. I grab my own map from my backpack and mark the spot where we buried him, I just hope we can bring both of them home one day. I take Faye from the youngster in the front passenger seat and place Jenna’s head on my lap, I need them both close to grieve in silence. Tears silently run down my cheeks, mourning the loss of two Wolves that I never knew. The only thing that will remind me of them daily are the two girls in my arms, their Daughters and I will protect them at any cost.
