Chapter 717 Keep Up

Gamma Judas’ p.o.v. My Wolf woke me in the middle of the night, something was wrong according to him and I quickly linked our border patrols. Each team reported back to me, all borders were clear and it had been quiet all night. My Wolf didn’t like their answer and demanded we would go out there ourselves, but I managed to calm him down enough to stay put. By morning my Wolf still hadn’t settled down and I took my Son and my soon to be Son in law with me, we ran the entire border without finding anything out of the ordinary. It wasn’t until after breakfast that I found out why my Wolf had been so agitated, my Mate had linked me in a total panic and I had to go home to find out what happened. My Mate was crying, while my best friend’s Mate gave me a murderous look. “You never talked to our Daughters, did you?” She asks me and I know what this is about, but act as if I am clueless. “Did Jocelyn say something?” I ask and with a brisk movement she holds out her hand, a note is clenched between her fingers. You sold us out is what is written down on the note and I wonder how Jocelyn found out about our plan, not that their Mothers would have agreed to it if the girls had said No. But that is why I never asked the girls and why I told the boys to forcefully mark them. There are barely any unmated females left in this Pack and the ones that are still unmated want nothing to do with the boys, just like Jocelyn and Indigo wouldn’t have said Yes to our plan. Most Packs find themselves in this predicament and the chances are getting bigger every day that the only available females are related to unmated males. My Grandpups are more likely to encounter that issue and I had hoped to avoid it for my Son, even at the cost of my Daughter. “Judas, what is going on here?” I hear the Alpha ask from behind me, but the look on his face tells me that he already knows what is going on and that can only mean one thing. My Mate gets up from the couch and rejects me there on the spot, but I am reluctant to accept her rejection. The Alpha forces me to accept it and moments later my best friend and I are without a Mate, and without a Pack because the Alpha banishes us. Our Sons are banished with us and I know that another Pack will only accept us if the boys have a Mate, that is the only reason why a Pack will accept new Pack-members. “Let’s go and find Jocelyn and Indigo. I think I have a pretty good idea where they might have gone and if we travel fast enough we can catch them before they reach their destination.” I say and we quickly head in the direction of White Mountain Pack. They have a head start of I don’t know how many hours and we need them to get into another Pack, they need to be captured. We run at top speed for hours on end, but my Son isn’t as fast I think he should be. It is halfway through the day that we are forced to rest for a while, the boys are too tired to continue and reluctantly I find a spot where we can rest. We rest almost as long as we have run and I hope we can catch up with the girls or we will be forced to live like Rogues for the rest of our lives. Not something my Wolf and I are looking forwards to. It is difficult to say if we are making any progress, if we are gaining on them and I keep pushing everyone as far as I can. But we need to rest more often than I would like and my hope of finding the girls is getting smaller with each passing hour. We have been gone from the Pack for over twenty four hours, but still no sign of the girls and we haven’t been able to smell their scent either. This can only mean one of two things, they went in another direction or their head start is bigger than I had thought. I am also regretting the fact that we didn’t bring any clothes or food with us and even though our Wolves hunt for food, it isn’t enough to keep us going for very long. Maybe we should just try to find a Pack that is willing to take us in, but I doubt we will be able to escape a life as rogues without the girls. “Dad, we need to stop.” My Son says in my head and I see that he isn’t the only one that can’t keep up with me anymore. My Wolf is unwilling to stop, he is convinced that the girls are close and I tell him to keep his ears open. We are slowing down our pace and start looking for a place to rest, for the third night in a row. I keep the huge, old tree in mind as my mark, it is there that my Wolf started to feel a bit more optimistic and I need to come up with a plan for tomorrow. It takes us half an hour to find a huge cluster of bushes, a good place to rest for the night and we lie down in Wolf form. I wake up with a jolt, my Wolf had released control back to me to wake me up and I grab my watch from my pants. “Wake up, it is almost nine in the morning.” I call out to the others and that is when I smell it, the scent of my Daughter. We give chase, but somehow they are too far ahead of us and we slow down when we can smell other Wolves. We keep checking if Jocelyn and Indigo are with them, but so far no luck. One of us keeps an eye on the Wolves in the clearing, while the rest of us keep chasing the girls and my Wolf releases a roar when we come up short once again. My Son is the first one to catch up with the girls and collides with Kardia in hopes of stopping her, but that damn Wolf isn’t giving up her freedom that easily. He runs into Kardia once more, but again she manages to get up and slowly backs out of the forest. The moment Jocelyn barrels into her Brother, I know that he is a lost cause and I decide to take my losses. We manage to grab Indigo and make a run for it, but I know someone is hot on our tail.
